I’m not going to engage any further into a discussion with people who are trying to argue that WAP isn't the most popular and dominant song right now. It's like saying God's Plan wasn't the biggest song in January 2018.

Your post makes no sense, you dont have to like WAP to understand its more deserving than BTS Good point. Also, is that C.C. that I saw on your pfp? Cute!

'Inside Your Heaven' says 'hi.'
Ppl are acting as if WAP won't return to #1 for the next and probably several weeks.

WAP deserves to retain the no.1 spot. It’s obviously the most popular song this week. BTS is pulling all these antics and for what? If the GP doesn’t like your song then maybe you need to re-evaluate the material you release

Who said that the “GP” or people outside of their fandom didn’t like the song? So far, people that I’ve seen on twitter/Facebook have actually liked Dynamite enough to talk about adding it to their playlist.
The numbers they are pulling are ones that their fans haven’t done on their own. So somebody likes it, maybe not the same people who love WAP.

If the GP doesn’t like your song then maybe you need to re-evaluate the material you release "Dynamite" is literally the most white-washed thing they've released so far, so it is clear that they have re-evaluated their material. They are singing in English, have a radio deal, and just broke the YouTube 24-hr record by nearly 20 million views to spare. 12 million of which were from the US, which is an improvement on their past releases. They are clearly popular and are playing the game right. If they succeed, they deserve it. Y'all are sounding foolish.

Afaik, the only #1 in the Soundscan era led by East Asians is...Like a G6.
I don't see the need for breakdowns over that number possibly going up to 2, for one week over an already-reigning #1, for a song that seems likely for 100k weekly sales locally and ~100 mil Youtube views opening day globally.

Aren't BTS falling on all metrics, though? What will be their saving grace? Last minute remixes?

Well Dynamite is expected to go #1 in the UK, where their songs have never made it to the top ten. It would be odd if the US didn't let it top their charts
Oh, and Talk of the Charts is predicting Dynamite to have over 800 points this week.

Well we have had 29 different sales #1s this year and August isn't over. 2019: 21 2018: 20 2017: 22 2016: 19 2015: 16 2014: 14 2013: 15 2012: 22 2011: 16 2010: 23 2009: 13 2008: 20 2007: 21 2006: 20 2005: 16
Guess it's yet another proof of how song sales these days are mostly relevant for just opening weeks.

Those First Look charts are very misleading as they're missing a significant amount of streaming data. The song is #20 on UK Spotify, so I doubt it's going #1 overall.

Apparently lil baby has the top selling album in the US so far. is this true? he’s had one hell of a year aha This is based on HitsDD week 33. You can also check the thread 2020 YTD which is by oldbloke from UKmix, or just go here link on page 13/14 you have top 200 best selling albums in 2020(SPS) week 32. Their numbers (oldblke & HitsDD) are nearly identical (difference is <0.2%) Like i said before in order for 'folklore' to reach #1 it will need to outperform 'Lover' by 10-15%. 'Lover' after 4 weeks (without pre-released units from singles) had 1.226M which is ~13K more than 'folklore'. 'Lover' was released week 34, 'folklore' week 30. But 'Lover' had 263K SPS from pre-released singles.
So congratulations to Lil Baby for having the best selling album in 2020 by Nielsen. On Billboard 200 Year-End 'Hollywood's Bleeding' will 99% take it.

Folklore will likely end up the best-selling album of the year if we are considering units actually sold, lol, which is amazing after a month.
Won't ever be a fan of a stream being considered a "sale" for album or song, regardless of the times. lol Like "WAP" and other songs "selling" 500k in week 1. Lawd. Will always be much harder to aquire a purchase than a free stream.

I thought it's obvious that WAP is and will be the most popular song in the US and UK by far this week before I saw some of the replies here... There’s some obvious bitterness going around the board. It’s usually like this when a big hip hop song is overshadowing a ‘big’ pop era (in this case Taylor, Gaga). So just get used to it and let the numbers do the talking.

What hip hop song is overshadowing Lady GaGa and Taylor? The way I was reading the source of contention was between BTS and WAP? lol
