The BTS digital-sales figures are not like the digital tack-ons to physical singles that won't be shipped for weeks, like what had been happening with singles earlier in the year. These are legit purchases, much like past instances (going back to at least the '90s), with fans purchasing multiple copies of the same singles- hardly anything new.

but we never saw this much scale of mass buying before in US market. at least bb should do something about D2C artist store's download where you don't need account and no regulation of 1 person buying 4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4+4++44+4+44+4 as long as it's in separate order. lol
180k dwonload in second week.. wow.

And people said their popularity is fake and the song will be freefalling, breaking the record for biggest drop, etc. This is such an impressive achievement and I'm happy for them.

It's been 84 years since it became all about playing games for the chart. BTS and their stans are not the first ones and definitely not the last ones to play their games but I guess it becomes problematic only when it happens to an act that you don't support. Everyone's releasing remixes and multiple videos, doing TV promo and discounting songs on iTunes. Nothing they did for the past two weeks to promote the song was new and in this case, other metrics like streaming and airplay indicate that the song is making an actual impact so I'm not mad about it.

btw, HDD have dynamite at 14.5M streaming, and the song only has 6m in Spotify US. their other versions must have huge numbers which is not surprising as stans play them too to boost the numbers. but as again bigger than what we've seen before from others, again shows their huge fanbse's power.

Once again, since the song was released, people on social media and on HERE have been talking about the free fall. They get little to no radio play when they release Korean music. Their team was smart, realized they had to play the game like the rest of the western artists and the free fall commentary obviously fueled fans to keep it as high as they can. BTS and their team played the game right and y’all are only mad because you don’t like them but let any other western artist get away with similar stuff. At this point, if there is a free-fall, so be it! It won’t take away the fact that they charted #1 for two weeks and made literally EVERYONE angry. Good for them. Well deserved.

Cope. It is not BTS's fault that their fanbase keeps buying. At least Dynamite is one of the few sales dominant #1s to not fall from the position, showing it has some GP support. And guess what, because of this prediction, the Dynamite remixes are rising on iTunes. In just this year we had worse #1 hits.

I’m so happy for them. They’ve proven that they can take an album to the top and now they know how to fight when the biggest single in the country is impossible to outstream.
Props to their insanely huge fanbase for pulling this off!
I’m pretty sure that WAP will spend the next few months at #1 after this small but historical break.

At least WAP has done great outside of the US. Should stay at #1 in Canada this week, it's heading for a second week in the UK, it's #1 in Australia and #1 in New Zealand.

Once again, since the song was released, people on social media and on HERE have been talking about the free fall. Can you blame them tho? Dynamite is literally their first song to spend 2 weeks in the top 30. also, like I said before, people are not mad at BTS, they are mad at the rules.

It's cool that they got another week at #1. Getting that many sales in it's second week is really impressive. I'm not a huge fan of the #1 debuts that just free fall after, so this is nice to see. I don't know people are so mad, they had the sales, streams, and airplay to get the #1 again.

Their fans raised over 50k to spread across this country to buy this song and they’ve been distributing money since the song started pre-ordering.
They are highly organized and I’ve never seen anything like this.

Only that anger seems to be selective based on who it effects. I agree Billboard needs to evaluate their process but I don’t think there really exists a process that will satisfy me personally. In the end, as long as the same rules apply week to week, consistency helps. I also don’t think it’s a stretch that Dynamite is a worthy number one anyway.

If Ice Cream debuts in the top 20, this will be the first time in history with 2 K-Pop songs in the top 20. Right?

I remember on Friday of last week people were saying "why is BTS still doing so well iTunes? Don't the stans know that the tracking week is over?"
well turns out the BTS stans continued to buy enough for another whole-ass tracking week to get a second week at #1

The way i’m dying with this. People thought wap would go back to #1. People thought this song would fall 1-100 or 1-OUT. I’m so proud of them and i’m not even a bts fan

A Global smash-hit, both culturally and consumption wise. ✊🏿 One that didn’t need 6 discounted versions + widespread website sales to maintain momentum. It’ll be nice to see it’s +50M streams as well as well-rounded sales & airplay carry it back to its rightful position on the Hot 100 next week. 🔥

I have 5 copies of the same cassette/cd single from songs in the 90's, this is nothing new, fans buying multiple copies. Social media has made it seem worse.

BTS Dynamite could be doing 100k+ sales in second week. Sells leading the hot 100. Some would still be shocked.
