The album comes out next month so I definitely see them pushing this one till then, so top 10 might actually be possible after all.

According to a new ad in Aircheck from Big Machine, “Next Girl” is going for max spins now.

^ Thank God. This is the only week I could see top 10 potentially happening.

I honestly don't see this going Top 10, but I'm glad they're wrapping things up. I wish this could've been a #1, but it clearly wasn't connecting as well as I thought it would.

This could've stood to be a higher-impact hit, but even if it comes up shy of the top 10, it still managed to make the top 15 in the end and for a female country artist, that is a solid accomplishment. She's also only had two major hits, so this competes with "Hide the Wine" for her third-biggest (and I'd say "Next Girl" has it beat). The promise of an Ashley McBryde duet for the next single has me excited, and duets lately have been moving the needle pretty well, so we'll see how that does.

I think she did well. It’s a lot countrier than most of what’s out there, she really only has two hits before this, her voice isn’t for everyone and the song was a recycled hook from one of the genres biggest megastars. Top 15 was really good for this.
Hoping the song with Ashley is great, I love Ashley.

Not trying to offer a daily update on the song, but: Is todays' update a fluke? Is this still alive? I'm not convinced it can recover from last week's BB fall, but it certainly has a bullet today (of literally 10...but, still) on MB.
Edit: I see it's being max-ed this week. Rooting for top 10!

It was a small loss on BB.

This will probably finish the week at #11. I don’t think it’ll gain quite enough to jump over Old Dominion’s song (which is what it would need to in order to get top 10.) Despite peaking the same place Hide The Wine did, this feels like a bigger hit. It got its gold certification relatively quickly and will be Carly’s third biggest hit.
Hope her future singles from the album move the needle more in the way that ELT and IHYHN did. Which she definitely has some; looking at 29, SKB, & What he didn’t do.

Given the Ashley collab is the next, I’m not too hopeful on another big radio hit for awhile. Nonetheless, “Next Girl” did well, but certainly deserved better.

^ sadly agree. Hope it can move the needle in every other way if radio decides not to cooperate (streaming, sales, accolades, etc.)

Carly posted a snippet of the studio version of What He Didn’t Do on her TikTok and it sounds as great as the live version. September 17th can’t come soon enough!

^ saw that a few days ago. Really wish she would push it as the next single, because they way it’s connected despite being unreleased is something she’s never seen with a song.

Can we stop discounting the Ashley collab? We haven’t even heard it yet. People who have actually heard it have spoken very highly of it. “What He Didnt Do” sounds good but it’s not some incredible single of the year caliber smash hit that some of y’all make it out to be.

I think we all know it's going to be a very good song, but for radio purposes a lot of us feel like it probably isn't the smartest choice because it's a female collab and very rarely do those do well and the fans really want "What He Didn't Do". I just don't see the point in trying to push a song that fans aren't connecting to and I think it would be the smartest choice to push a solo single to continue Carly's momentum at radio.

I’m also pretty sure it’s a vocal minority of 4 or so pulse members that are pushing for “What He Didnt Do” to be a single. It’s great that y’all love it so much but you haven’t even heard it in full and you haven’t heard the other songs on the album.

So from what I’m gathering, they shouldn’t release the Ashley McBryde collab because a) fans aren’t connecting with a song they haven’t heard, and b) radio would be fine with something solo but will automatically write off this song because there’s another woman singing with her? I hope I’m missing something, because this all sounds completely nonsensical.

Can’t wait to read the first reviews for the album, I hope for a couple of track-by-track reviews to know what to expect from the new songs.
Which new songs, only based on the title, are your most anticipated ones? I’m really curious about the album closer Mean It This Time and hope it’s a big, heartbreaking ballad, since I really need one. Something in the vein of Halfway Home would be nice.

Talks about how she’s going to do things differently next time around. The “written in stone” part of the album title actually comes from a line in this song.

Do you know, if it's more of an acoustic song or a full on power ballad? In the listening room, singers only perform with a guitar and not with the instrumentals, which are used in the songs, right?

I’m not sure how to studio instrumentation is for it, but you are right about the listening room being more acoustic. I imagine the production will elevate it even more and make an already stellar song even better. Because the production we have seen thus far has been top notch. Also, loving Diamondback from the preview. A much bigger fan of that one so far than Liability.

Another 'leak'....and austin , I think you have your wish...this is just a country sex jam haha. Production is interesting, very swanky, but country sounding. Do we know, if this song made the album? Maybe this is ‘Your Drinkin’, My Problem’? It's one of my favorite snippets from her. Edit: Just found out it isn't on the album. :'(

Did she perform anything beyond "Next Girl" on Kimmel? Strange to perform an old single. I guess the new single is a duet, and so is her last/biggest hit, so..
