Holy is so.... boring? Itβs pretty uneventful sound wise and Iβm not a Bieber hater by any means. Like it just sounds like such faceless radio filler.
How did he go from the 2015-2017 streak to releasing two lead singles that are so dull in the same year lol. Who at the label was green lighting all this music after hearing it

my thoughts:
"Holy" β this is ok. I'm sure it'll do well, at least this week, but we'll see how it fares in the long run. probably not adding it to my library, though.
"Diamonds" β this is a bop. Sam's return to form, US singles-wise. hope they get the recognition they deserve!
"Naked" β great tune. don't expect it to do much, because...
"Kings & Queens" β should get a nice bump this week. could it finally reach the upper half of the Hot 100?
"Me Gusta" β the breakdown throws me off, but the verses are nice. it feels weird to release this going into fall, though ngl.

The production and delivery of both are actually pretty interesting

I imagine that's probably because Brazil and Latin America are going into spring (being in the southern hemisphere and all π), and their label are probably focusing more on the guaranteed market. Regardless, I hope the Cardi B feature helps Anitta to finally notch a Hot 100 entry. |

I just listened to 'Holy' and...it was better than expected but something about it sounds very artificial. I'm just reminded of what Kanye did last year with Jesus is King and how the gospel sound felt more like a gimmick than something he did out of passion. Like it's at least more distinct than Intentions or Yummy...but if it didn't have Gospel sounding pianos or drums, this would just be another Justin Bieber song.
