The radio stations, surveyed for the show, does not include all the stations that are surveyed for the Mediabase CHR/Pop chart.  That's what makes the difference between those two charts.

i said it as a joke, of course they dont actually hate cardigan.

at the same time, it still feels weird that at40 dropped it off immediately while it's still in the teens on mediabase (granted it is starting to fall, but still it's in the teens). even if the stations that play at40 basically rarely play cardigan, so little in fact it can't even be on the at40 chart feels so so so off to me.

Is that how this chart is measured?

I used to find it weird that people would comment on AT40’s chart if it was too different from the published Mediabase chart because it was like, we know it’s not the same chart and I doubt people listen to AT40 for accuracy since the chart component is the least of its priorities. But the difference with Cardigan is the biggest we’ve seen so far I think and is strange, particularly when everything else is always relatively close to the actual Mediabase chart. I have wondered whether production has a say in song placement to avoid having too many less-familiar songs in a row, or to avoid having too many slow songs in a row, and I’ve wondered if maybe Cardigan was a sore spot for some stations carrying the show because it’s not super pop-friendly - except it’s an extra this week so idk.

Another memorable quote, though it wasn't part of an interview, was Ryan saying that AJR said "Bang!" is about becoming adults and relating that to eating quinoa: it tastes bad but you have to do it. Well, I personally like quinoa--and AJR, which is apparently not a very popular opinion on Pulse Music Board (for evidence read the thread about that or any of their songs.)

And in response to the complaints about "cardigan", maybe AT40 was just a little ahead of itself in dropping it early. A week ago it was in the top 20 on Mediabase but by now it's crashed out of the top 30, which is the kind of movement that often parallels a song falling off AT40 from a relatively high position.
