YES!!!! What a finish! I knew "Commitment" was going to be a frontrunner here, as it is just such a great hit for LeAnn. It tends to be overlooked in her early catalog thanks to songs like "Blue" and "One Way Ticket", but it still holds its own, and it has also aged pretty well imo. LeAnn doesn't seem to get quite as much love in the rankdown world as her peers like Martina, LAW, Sara, Jo Dee, etc. so it is nice to see her get another song into the RotB series. I am soooooo happy to see Jo Dee pull off a win here though!!!!! "Let It Go" has been one of my favorites from her from the first time I listened to her debut back when we did her album series. It just does everything right for me. I love the echoey '90s production, and the way the pre-chorus ascends to perfectly transition from the verses to the chorus. I even love the way the song starts all soft, only to have that epic drum fill as the full band comes in. Jo Dee's vocals are a bit young and unseasoned, but still undeniably fantastic! I also love how the chorus has a bit of a singsongy quality to it. It's just a song that gets stuck in my head and pretty much refuses to leave. After being extremely disappointed with how this performed in her debut album rankdown, it has done quite a bit better every time, so to see it actually win one is like the ultimate vindication! Thanks for hosting castleoblivion26!! The '90s were sure fun!

I wanna thank everyone for participating in these. I have a lot of fun doing these and am excited for the next one. I'll open it tomorrow and it'll be due on Feb 12th! I made a love song playlist specifically for this next Shuffle rankdown. I had a couple songs come up that I missed when going over everything to make sure we had no previous Top 2 songs be repeated here. There are many gems that I would have loved to have seen make this next months shuffle but I am excited to see how everyone ranks these next 10 songs!
Here is the Love song playlist that the next shuffle is based on!
oh and just need to re-iterate how excited I am that "Let It Go" FINALLY won a rankdown!!!

I love Jo Dee but I don’t really like her debut era other than her amazing lead single/l, yet I am sorry for almost tanking a song all my lovers in this thread like so much!
Looking forward to the next shuffle!

"Some People"!!! One of my favorite country music vocals on record of all-time tbh.

As I mentioned a couple times at the beginning of this rankdown, I've been a longtime fan of Clint's that likely goes all the way back to the same time when I was discovering George, Alan, and a slew of other country artists thanks in large part to CMT and TNN to a lesser degree. I'm not quite sure where I'd rank "Loving Blind" in a rankdown for him, but needless to say it would be a strong top 10 contender for sure. I never wavered on putting this at #1 here, though, as it's a song that I still revisit quite a bit even to this day. The steel guitar is definitely what makes this song so great, so imagine my disappointment when I last saw Clint that he didn't have a steel guitar in the band (unfortunately it's just not an instrument that isn't used as frequently these days). Anyways, I'm happy to read that this was a discovery some of y'all really enjoyed and I hope whenever I launch his artist rankdown y'all will join in! I certainly wouldn't have guessed that Sammy would edge out Clint, but alas "Third Rate Romance" was more well liked than I thought it might be. I would've preferred the opposite outcome of course, but either way I think we all pretty much assumed that both of them would be the first two out in the top 5. As I mentioned earlier, Sammy is another underrated artist on Pulse whose output from the '90s is quite strong. Going into the top 5 I had predicted that it would come down to the three ladies and therefore wasn't really surprised by the outcome. I wish I liked Patty's "I Don't Want to Feel Like That" as much as y'all seem to, but I've never been able to get into the song as I find it to be too subdued even for my taste and if I'm being honest kind of boring. Knowing how well-regarded Jo Dee is amongst Pulse and well liked the song "Let It Go" is, I figured it was a contender to win leaving LeAnn as the runner-up. Both are great songs so I'm not at all surprised to see them both in the top 2. Thanks again castleoblivion26 and I'm looking forward to the Valentine's edition!

What is gonna be #1? "We Danced"
What will make the Top 3? "We Danced," "Some People," "Angels Fall Sometimes"
What will be #10? "Another Nine Minutes"
What will be in the bottom 3? that plus "Don't I Have A Heart" and "Amen Kind of Love"
Other comments/thoughts? Josh Turner's voice gives me ASMR tingles every time I hear him. "Some People" is a great song and I absolutely love "We Danced"

What is gonna be #1? "We Danced" for the win!!!!!!
What will make the Top 3? "We Danced", "Some People", "High On Love"
What will be #10? This is less obvious to me than the top contenders... There are several songs here that could contend, and none of them are bad, but might succumb to being less known... I'm gonna go for the Yankee Grey song.
What will be in the bottom 3? "Nine More Minutes", "Hold On To Me", and "Amen Kind Of Love".
Other comments/thoughts? I'd be perfectly fine to see Vince/Patty go out sooner than expected... MKOW/MKOM is just not that engaging of a song, sorry! Although she can show up to slay all she wants to with "High On Love"! As long as she doesn't take the victory from Brad :)

Y'all always do JMM dirty! I'd love to do a JMM singles rankdown just so y'all can't tank him. 😂

John Michael Montgomery is a terrible artist. Almost everything I've heard from him is just intolerable cheese and his voice is rather subpar.

Two perfect rankings is a nice way to start this off!! Not too upset at anything so far, but I will say The Wilkinsons certainly didn't deserve last place. I knew they'd be in the bottom 3, but last place?!

I've historically almost always been one of the lower rankers for the Wilkinsons every time they have shown up in a rankdown, so I feel good about not looking like I'm hating on them for once!!! "Don't I Have A Heart" very easily could have been my last place...but only because this rankdown was so consistent in quality that I had like 4 songs I could have easily put in last place. This song is catchy, and has an energy to it that I thought was cheesy at first, but it ultimately made me want to keep coming back to it and helped it to be as high as #7 on my list.
"Another Nine Minutes" was another one that I felt was towards the lower end of this list. It's catchy and enjoyable, but really doesn't have anything special about it.
I did like "Hold Onto Me" quite a bit! I hate looking like a John Michael Montgomery hater, because I do enjoy his output a LOT more than the average Pulser seems to... However, "Hold Onto Me" just doesn't do anything to elevate itself over all the other fantastic songs in this list.
YAY I'm glad to see Vince/Patty out next! "MKOW/MKOM" is just not an engaging song at all to me. The melody plods, and the whole thing just sounds like what would happen if you asked a robot to compose a stereotypical '90s country arrangement. There is absolutely nothing standout about it, other than the fact that two huge names are attached to it.

"Don't I Have A Heart" is catchy and they sound great vocally as usual, but even I as a big Wilkinsons fan always found this one just slightly cheesy and I think that did it in here haha
"Another Nine Minutes" is easily the catchiest song here and I think if they had been bigger this would've escaped the bottom 3. Wonderful energy on the song!
"Hold On To Me" I don't hate or anything, but it's also cheesy and I don't ever think of it much in regards to JMM's whole career. I own everything he's released so I wouldn't mind doing a rankdown for him someday!
"My Kind Of Woman / My Kind Of Man" is a song I always wished I loved more than I do. I like it a lot, but it falls slightly on the more boring side of things that I think Vince gets accused of regularly on Pulse. One Of the few times I can agree.
Sooo glad to see Daryle miss the bottom 4! Fully expecting him or Hot Country Knights out next though.

I never did my thoughts on the first four songs out so let me do them now:
"Don't I Have A Heart" is so cheesy but at the same time it is a lot of fun and I've always enjoyed it a lot. Sad to see it gone first but not one bit surprised. When it popped up in the Shuffle I was excited to see it but also fully expected this.
"Another Nine Minutes" is a fun song and I've always enjoyed it. Was always sad they didn't catch on because between this and "All Things Considered", I really enjoyed them
I love "Hold On To Me". I thought maybe this could be #10 but I'm happy it wasn't. JMM released this around the time I first got into Country so it is one I remember fondly but I barely listen to it so it was nice to revisit it for this and I think the song fit the Valentine theme perfectly!
Lastly, I kinda agree with people that "My Kind of Woman/My Kind of Man" is missing something. Patty and Vince both sound great but the song just kinda plods along. Patty alone elevates this song from being completely forgettable. Wish the two of them had recorded a duet that was a little more uptempo
I plan to finish reveals tonight so stay tuned for that later on!

This song is hilarious. Terri Clark also still sounds great vocally.
