Well I’m off to a bad start here! Me too! I really liked Bryan White. “Love Is The Right Place” was his last big hit, and I quite liked it.

Hoping a few more people will join us for some more reveals. The song at #8 is someones #1 so the pain is really gonna start early!. Almost all songs have a #1 except for 3. We've seen 2 so far, so only 1 song remaining has no #1's Uh oh

I would've probably put When I Close My Eyes at 1 😂 I love some vintage Kenny.
Sorry I didn't get around to this, I saw the date of the 8th but was like oh that's not for a couple more days. :dead:0.

This has gone well for me so far. I would've liked my #6 to do better though.
I'm glad "Big Love" is out. I just could not get into that one.

I’m surprised that the Trace Adkins and Clint Black songs are still in. I’m hoping that my #1 takes this, and I think it has a real shot to.

I just really love "The Love Bug" and wish it would've made the Top 5 at least. It's such an infectious jam!

I don't love this one as much as I did when I was younger, but it still never fails to put a smile on my face whenever I hear it. I'm just glad this managed to escape the bottom 3 because I wasn't expecting it to be a top 5 contender.

My Take:Talked about this a little previously but I struggle with Trace Adkins in general because of his hatred towards the LGBT community. This makes it difficult for me to even want to include his songs in any of my playlist but I try to ignore that because I do love some of his songs. This one is probably one of my least favorites of my favorites so while I love it, I don't love it as much as the others in this list. Surprised to see this make it to #6!

Speaking of Trace Adkins, I just saw him and Clint Black in 2019 with Terri Clark and all of them were just great (wow that sentence just made me really miss concerts). If there wasn't some nostalgia around Trace's music I might have more of a hard time looking past his politics, but I'm still able to set that aside and enjoy his songs. I had a hunch that "There's a Girl in Texas" might get closer to the top 5 than y'all were thinking and I certainly hope bboat11 decides to go ahead with a rankdown for him sometime in the future.

I might do a Trace rankdown, as he does have some good songs, but his Trumpish behaviour has completely put me off of his music for now.

Even though I had predicted Sammy’s “Third Rate Romance” to leave first, I can actually say that I’m not entirely surprised to see him make the top 5 as I consider Sammy to be another underrated artist on Pulse whose ‘90s output is rather strong and would likely surprise most of you. I’m also pleasantly surprised to see Clint make the top 5! As much as I’m hoping to see him at least clear the top 3, I’ll still say that the ladies Jo Dee, Patty, and LeAnn will encompass those spots.

Early Kenny had some real gems. I have always found the vocal on "When I Close My Eyes" to be a little grating, although the song itself is great. It's like it's in too high of a key or something. Kenny's super high vocals in the chorus are uncharacteristic for him, and then with the loud background vocalists mixed with whatever vocal processing was put onto all of it, it all has not aged very well at all imo. That being said, the song itself is still really good, and I was not expecting it to be last place. I actually enjoyed "Love Is The Right Place" more than I thought I would based on who sings it! The only Brian White song I have ever enjoyed is "From This Moment On", and that obviously wasn't because of his contribution, lol. Idk, all of his material sounds super dated to me, and I find his voice to be a bit on the grating side. But this song grew on me the more I listened to it! It was still too strong of a playlist for it to escape my bottom 2, but I would never skip it! Okay, WTF at "Big Love" being in the bottom 3!!! This chorus is pure ear candy! "I've got a big love, wild and free! Room to grow as big as your dreams!" When I hear it, I cannot get that line out of my head. With it being a top 10 contender in his singles rankdown, I thought for sure this would be better received than this... Very disappointing. If this had been sung by George Strait, it would have made a run at the top 3 here. Speaking of George Strait, "Lovebug" did about as well as I expected it to here. It is definitely one of his more polarizing songs. It is very catchy, but definitely has a bit of a novelty vibe to it, so I can see why some people have worn out on it. "There's A Girl In Texas" is a very good song. Trace definitely has some gems buried in his catalog, including this one, which is just a pure straightforward '90s country jam. I'd be eager to see how it does in a singles rankdown! Shocked Sammy Kershaw managed to make the top 5... He HAS to be next. I feel like from here on out it will be pretty predictable, with the two men going out back-to-back and then the three ladies fighting it out in the top 3.

My Take:I remember listening to this song for the first time about 10 years ago and I love it. This has easily become one of my favorite Clint Black songs ("Still Holding On" is probably my favorite from him overall, with "Been There" being up there too). Was happy to see this make the top 5!

Pleasantly surprised to see Clint in the top 5! This was a very nice discovery for me. I LOVE the steel guitar especially. This song has an iconic amount of steel guitar. My #8 rank is totally just because this list is so strong. When we do a Clint rankdown, this will probably be a strong contender for my top 5 among his singles!

Rooting for a female top 3! Especially since Sammy is the only other option... Can't believe he got the highest-ranking male position here...

My Take:This has long been one of my favorites from Sammy and I'm happy to get a perfect ranking here. I never thought this song would do as well as it did here as I figured it would be in the bottom 3 most likely. Glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys this one! Someday I'd love to see a Sammy Kershaw rankdown happen!

I do like "Third Rate Romance", so don't think I'm dumping on it with my last place rank and saying I can't believe it's the highest male song. It will probably be in my top 10 if we ever end up doing a Sammy Kershaw rankdown. But to me it truly feels like a novelty song for some reason. It very quickly becomes cheesy after just a couple of listens. While I do enjoy it, nothing else in the list has the same cheesy effect on me, so it was a very easy last place. I cannot even fathom this being considered the "best" male song in this list, but I guess it's nice to let Sammy get a rare moment of Pulse Spotlight 😂

My Take:I have long loved this song and am so happy to see it make it to the top 3 since for a while there it looked like it wouldn't make the top 5 at all. Look forward to seeing how this does in the album rankdown (due next month if you haven't submitted yet!)

"I Don't Wanna Feel Like That" instantly became one of my favorite Patty album tracks thanks to this rankdown. The whole song just has a really calming, laid-back feel to it that really gets stuck in your head thanks to the odd yet memorable melody. I also am eager to see how it does in the album rankdown next month! I have a feeling it will make a run for the top 2 album tracks, at the very least (despite Trashy Tim and his hateful heart). Now, I am going to stick by my prediction that single bias will give the edge to LeAnn for the win. Although I am rooting for Jo Dee!!!!
