Wow, Lose Yourself has to be one of the biggest songs of all-time
7M+ digital sales, almost 1 BILLION streams on Spotify (one of the most streamed 2000s singles ever) and almost 1 BILLION views on YouTube
It was a 12 week #1, but only had 23 weeks on the chart because it dropped like a rock on airplay after topping it for 11 weeks (ranked #77 on the 2000s Airplay Chart, relatively low for a 10+ week radio #1)

Where is Bday on the list of best albums from the decade? I could swear I saw a tweet last year with it only a couple million streams behind DIL.

Ugh, the amount of nu-metal and post-grunge on the list. If anyone ever says a thing about trap being the worst, just remind them off a time when Staind and 3 Doors Down were big names I feel like (on average) post-grunge doesn't have as good recurrent stats as pop-punk, alt-rock and nu-metal from those years though, at least when you consider how big they were on the charts. Adult Contemporary style pop-rock/soft-rock and post-grunge seemed to be the rock subgenres that did best on the Hot 100 back then. Yeah. There's a good reason the alternative acts like Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Muse, The White Stripes, Gorillaz, The Strokes, and Queens of the Stone Age are more fondly remember than say Fuel or Default or Buckcherry (I felt like I just grew a Tap-Out shirt with a goatee listing those names)

I am pretty sure this one is from 2003: Nickelback - Someday And just for good measure, though they are probably just 2004 singles: Strokes - Reptilia Evanescence - My Immortal Blink-182 - I Miss You Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit OutKast - Roses I'm only doing the top 50 per year though, Someday is at #56 for 2003 on my spreadsheet. And yeah, I have all those other songs under 2004.

2005 seems like a bit of a weaker year then others.
Pon De Replay being more streamed then We Belong Together AKA the song that blocked it from #1 is kind of funny.

I wonder if there is a demographic reason why most of these songs with longevity are alternative/rock.

Really surprised I'm Yours is the most streamed 2000s song, I literally forgot about it.

I wonder if there is a demographic reason why most of these songs with longevity are alternative/rock. My theory has been that there's been a lack of mainstream/cross-over hits from that genre in the past decade so people who were into that music in the 00s just keep listening to their 00s alt/rock.

I'm surprised Make You Feel My Love is Adele's highest streamed song for 08 and not Chasing Pavements or Hometown Glory.

2005 seems like a bit of a weaker year then others. Pon De Replay being more streamed then We Belong Together AKA the song that blocked it from #1 is kind of funny. Great thread and great observation here. I would like to argue that a song's leg also depends (as an additional factor) on whether the artist is still relevant in the streaming era. Thoughts? Really surprised I'm Yours is the most streamed 2000s song, I literally forgot about it. You'll be surprised by how often this is being sung at Karaoke bars across Asia

Really surprised I'm Yours is the most streamed 2000s song, I literally forgot about it. You'll be surprised by how often this is being sung at Karaoke bars across Asia idk, I mean a lot of these bands don't seem like they're super big in the streaming era, in terms of the songs they've released in the streaming era. Like Green Day and Blink-182 don't really have any big streaming songs in the last 5 years. The Killers and Linkin Park and RHCP barely do, like they have one or two songs around 100-200m but that's still not that much by streaming era standards and less than their older material. System of a Down have pretty good recurrents despite not having released anything in 15 years. But as someone born in 91, I can say that all of those bands were really big growing up in the 00s. I don't know if it's that they were being pirated more, or if it was just lower radio play or what, but people in my school were definitely aware of who they were and listening to them. Maybe the guys I was hanging out with weren't fully representative of teenagers at large since I was in a overwhelmingly white high school and hanging out with mostly straight guys, but older bands were pretty big, I had friends into Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Nirvana, Deep Purple... and newer metal bands had a following too, as well as System of a Down, The White Stripes, Tenacious D and Foo Fighters. For hip-hop, Eminem was definitely huge, and 50 Cent was big too (I was 14-15 right at his peak), Kanye, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Nas were decently big, but all those smaller artists that made up much of the charts in any given year didn't really penetrate in my school as far as I could tell, other than the ones we'd talk about for the memes like Soulja Boy and Chamillionaire. I didn't hang out with as many girls, but from the ones I did know, Coldplay, Green Day, Linkin Park and Evanescence were some of the bands they liked. The post-grunge bands though, all I can remember of my friends bringing them up was when the Chad Kroeger Photograph memes started going around in 2008-2009.

A lot of these songs and their streaming #'s depends greatly on play listing as well.
