I have whole evening on repeat Something to remember album by Madonna (listening to it now - song Rain is on). With The Immaculate collection, these 2 albums are the ones I listen to the most by her. And it seems strange to me that there are also other greatest hits/compilation albums I listen to more frequantly than regular albums by artist.
So... do you have any greatest hits/compilation albums that you listen to more than regular artist album? Which ones? And why you actually love/prefer them more?

And to answer... what I really like about Something to remember is that all songs are ballads and the album has that chill/calm mood which past few year really suits me the most.
Besides this album, here are other ones I do listen to very often and probably more than any other regular albums...
• Love, Whitney ~ Whitney Houston
Again, all ballads and I just like the mellow mood it sets
▪ TwentyFive ~ George Michael
Especially CD2 ▪ For loving - again, slow songs
• Gold Dust ▪ Tori Amos
Def the album I listen to the most by her. Even more than Scarlet's walk. Just love orchestral versions of the songs!
♧♢♡♤ Honorable mention to greatest hits by
Jewel Paula Abdul & Janet Jackson (Design of the decade)

Gloria Estefan - The Essential This has so many of her singles and even some deep cuts and remixes from the major part of her career including some of her Spanish stuff.
Madonna - The Immaculate Collection This has most of her 80s and early 90s hits.
Prince - The Hits 1 & 2 + B-Sides This has all the essential 7” versions of all the 80s and early 90s hits plus all those rare b-sides.
Sade - The Best Of Sade It has all the essential classics. Of course it only covers up through the 90s but it goes deep.
Sandra - The Platinum Collection This has all of the classic singles and nearly all in the hit single and 7” versions.

It's fairly common, I'd think, to listen to hits compilations more than studio albums. For instance, as much as I enjoy Madonna's studio albums from 1983-1990, I have listened to The Immaculate Collection more, without question.

Whitney Houston - The Greatest Hits & The Essential Tevin Campbell - The Best Of Hi-Five - Greatest Hits Mariah Carey - Greatest Hits & The Essential Michael Jackson - The Essential Britney Spears - The Essential
Those Sony "The Essential" albums are so good. They usually put all of an artists singles/single versions across 2 discs.

Artist compilation albums I like:
ABBA Gold David Gray - Best Of Sheryl Crow - Very Best of Madonna - Celebration Pink - So Far Amy Macdonald - 2007-2018 Cranberries - Stars Jewel - Greatest Hits
It’s hard to mess up a hits or best of album, but it’s possible:
Ones I don’t like: Alanis Morissette - The Collection
There are others I’d love to see in existence, particular now that we’re in a new vinyl age.

I never seen essentials in Europe... I'm not sure if they are released internationally but I do know that some of them are repackaged international versions of 'Greatest Hits' collections already released.

It depends on what I'm in the mood for.
If I want to feel the nostalgia and have a sampling of an artist's hits, I will put on a Greatest Hits collection. Also, for artists from the 60s and 70s when the music market was singles heavy and albums were mostly filler, I do a Greatest Hits. e.g. Aretha's Best, The Journey (Donna Summer), The Very Best of Cher, Diana Ross
But I'm a sucker for an album that is sequenced well into an experience and listen to those more often.

But I'm a sucker for an album that is sequenced well into an experience and listen to those more often. Right! The easiest way to go is chronological in the order of when the songs became hits. But this doesn't work so well when the artist's hits are more frontloaded. As happy as I am to have Jewel's hits (and radio mix versions) on a single album, I'd almost rather it not have been in chrono order because it is rather frontloaded. Then there are albums that have a nice mix. For some reason, I really love how Sheryl Crow's 2003 Best Of was presented. Her bigger hits are at the front but she sprinkles the rest throughout so the highlights are spreads throughout the listing. Then there are albums that just feel completely random. Alanis' Collection would have been much better if it had been chronological, because then at least it would make sense. But including random tracks like Mercy (a chant, essentially) among the tracks, while cutting out so many of her actual singles (and minor hits). It's incredibly uneven. Her compilation could have been as strong as Sheryl's and still had room for fan favourites.

I'm a firm believer that a compilation album can be just as much a work of art as any studio album if done right.
The Immaculate Collection and ABBA Gold are the GOAT for sure.
