1. What will be #1? Probably "Let It Be Christmas". Can't imagine anything else, honestly. Maaaaaybe "Holly Jolly Christmas"? I feel like his version is one of the more popular versions of that one... 2. What will be #23? "Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck" please. 3. What songs will be in the top 5? "Let It Be Christmas", "Holly Jolly Christmas", "Just Put A Ribbon In Your Hair", maybe one of the "There's A New Kid In Town"s? 4. What songs will be in the bottom 5? "Pickup Truck", "Please Daddy", maybe some of the more boring classics like "The Christmas Song" or "O Come All Ye Faithful". 5. Which album will do better overall? (Honky Tonk Christmas or Let It Be Christmas) I think it'll be pretty even tbh, kinda like George's Christmas rankdown was. But his first album will probably do a liiiiittle better. 6. Which version of "There's a New Kid In Town" will do better? (Chris Young or Keith Whitley) The newer one with Young, Chris. 7. "Just Put a Ribbon In Your Hair" is one of only two songs not to be featured on either album. How will it perform? It better be top 10 MINIMUM, but I'm hoping for top 5! It literally blew me away on first listen 8. Any other thoughts or predictions? I will agree with some who have said that Alan isn't exactly the most exciting Christmas artist, but this is still a pretty solid set of songs! I'm excited to see how it goes! While I feel like the winner is obvious, everything else could be kind of unpredictable imo.

1. What will be #1? It has to be "Let It Be Christmas" cannot imagine it being anything else, though I suppose bboat11 could be right and "Holly Jolly Christmas" could contend 2. What will be #23? "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" maybe. I could see the Chipmunks duet being last too though I hope not cause that is a fun song 3. What songs will be in the top 5? The two #1 contenders I mentioned above plus "The Angels Cried", "If We Make It Through December", and maybe "There's A New Kid in Town" (1993 version). I could see "Honky Tonk Christmas" being a popular one as well 4. What songs will be in the bottom 5? "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "If You Don't Wanna See Santa Claus Cry", "Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck", "Please Daddy (Don't Get Drunk This Christmas)", and "Jingle Bells" 5. Which album will do better overall? (Honky Tonk Christmas or Let It Be Christmas) I'd prefer to see Honky Tonk Christmas do better overall because I grew up with that album more but both are great and I could see a lot of the participants liking the Let It Be Christmas songs better 6. Which version of "There's a New Kid In Town" will do better? (Chris Young or Keith Whitley) the Keith Whitley one should easily do the best
7. "Just Put a Ribbon In Your Hair" is one of only two songs not to be featured on either album. How will it perform? I could see it escaping the bottom 10 at most but I doubt it honestly. I see it being out between 16 to 18 8. Any other thoughts or predictions? I'm probably gonna lose a couple top 10s right away but thats because I love a couple songs I know a few others don't and nostalgia definitely plays a factor for me. I do hope that "There's A New Kid In Town" does well because this is one of my favorite Christmas songs and his version from 1993 is my favorite version of the song.

Well, much to the delight of bboat11 and the chagrin of castleoblivion26 “Santa’s Gonna Come in a Pickup Truck” bows out first. This clocked in with the 9th highest standard deviation as collectively it accumulated a total of six last place rankings while also picking up two top 10’s. I happen to think y’all did this one rather dirty because I happen to find it incredibly clever. I always find myself revisiting this song every holiday season at least once just for the giggles it brings. This never really stood a chance unfortunately as once it settled into last place it remained there for the remainder of its run.

Just after losing our 9th most polarizing song we say goodbye to our 9th least polarizing song as “If You Don’t Wanna See Santa Claus Cry” departs next. It’s a sad, sad sigh for Kanenrá:ke and kw9461 as they lose a top 10. Both myself and castleoblivion26 lose our last place song while bboat11 and someguy get a perfect ranking! There were two songs flirting with my last place and this just happened to find its way in that slot towards my final edit. It’s kind of a sad and dreary-type of Christmas song that I don’t often find myself in the mood to hear and therefore is one of the few songs from his first release that I don’t revisit much. This never manage to leave the bottom 2 and maintained its position there for its entire run.

Much to my own disappointment “O Come, All Ye Faithful” leaves us next. This was the 10th most polarizing song as myself, LBTrocks , and castleoblivion26 lose a top 10 while three others lose a bottom 2 including a last place for kw9461 . I absolutely love Alan’s version of this song and it’s probably one of my favorite renditions to this Christmas carol. It got off to a joyful start as it was briefly a top 5 contender, but it really was never able to recover from its first bottom 2 ranking. It mostly hovered around the top 20 from there before settling back to its lowest ranking spot in the rankdown.

Alrighty, I'm going to pause there for now as that at least clears out the bottom 3. I'll be back around later this evening to do some more reveals!

I'll take that PR right off the bat! Not disappointed at anything thus far; but I have to imagine it's gonna get ugly soon enough.

I just happen to have a little more time on my hands before the evening comes around...so I'm going to go ahead and do a few more reveals!
Up first as we enter the top 20 is our least polarizing song of the rankdown.

“Away In a Manger” is likely one of the most covered Christmas carols and so there are no shortage of renditions to go around. I wouldn’t go so far as to say Alan is one of my favorites (I’m partial to George Strait’s), but I do quite enjoy his take especially with the choir and orchestra. This hovered in and around the top 20 for the better part of its run and came in as the least polarizing song of the rankdown! Both LBTrocks and Kris Kringle lose a top 10 while HeyHeyHey loses a last place ranking. The majority of everyone else placed this somewhere either within their top 15 or top 20.

“Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” checks off the list as our third least polarizing song of the rankdown with the majority of our Christmas Honky Tonkers putting it inside their top 20. After having just lost his last place HeyHeyHey loses a top 10 with someguy becoming the first to lose a top 5. Mister Kris Kringle himself must not care much for this song anymore as he loses a bottom 3 ranking. Of all the Christmas songs this definitely isn’t a go-to for me…except from Alan! He absolutely brings this one to life with the big band ensemble infused with a jingle of jazz and I make sure never to skip over this one when I play the album. I just always find myself getting really into this and wanting to dance along with it.

Written by Robert Wells and Mel Tormé in 1945, “The Christmas Song” has gone one to become one of the most recognizable and notable holiday songs. Again, there’s no shortage of renditions as just about every artist who has released a Christmas record likely has recorded this song. Alan of course recorded his version for his second holiday album Let It Be Christmas. I definitely think Alan’s voice brings something unique to this song and therefore his version has always been one of my personal favorites. Quite a few of you enjoy this more than me though as both someguy and Kris Kringle lose a top 10 with taylor is terrified becoming our second participant to lose a top 5. This briefly found its way into the top 10 but was never quite able to recover from the two bottom 3 rankings from castleoblivion26 and bboat11 .

So far a very solid start for this rankdown! "Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck" just does not work at all. It is an interesting concept, but Alan does not have nearly enough personality to pull off a duet with the Chipmunks. In the hands of someone like Dolly this song would have probably worked!
"If You Don't Wanna See Santa Claus Cry" is not something I would ever skip, but it is definitely on the more boring end of these Christmas songs. I'm pleasantly surprised to see it finish so low and me getting a perfect ranking for it!
Several of these other songs ("O Come All Ye Faithful", "Away In A Manger", "The Christmas Song") are among the more boring Christmas songs depending on the version, and are also in the "over-covered" territory. To me these songs can all be great in the right hands, but are painfully boring in 95% of people's hands, so I am not at all surprised or disappointed to see them be so low here. This was what I meant when I made my bottom 5 predictions, so I'd say it's playing out nicely!
"Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" has a fun energy to it, and is not over-covered in the country music world. I wouldn't have minded seeing it a little higher. Not a devastating loss though!
