"Santa's Gonna Come In A Pickup Truck" deserved better but I'm not surprised at all. I love Alan's personality coupled with the Chipmunks. Unlike bboat11 I think he pulls it off excellently because his calm demeanor really plays off the Chipmunks personalities. I think it works better with Alan than it ever would with someone like Dolly imo "If You Don't Wanna See Santa Claus Cry" isn't a bad song at all and I do like it but at the end of the day it isn't one I'd ever go out of my way to listen to at all I love his rendition of "O Come All Ye Faithful" and that should be a lot higher. Sometimes a subtle performance is great and Alan delivers this song in a great way. I love this song in general. "Away In A Manger", "The Christmas Song", and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" are all great covers but not great either.

I'll take that PR right off the bat! Not disappointed at anything thus far; but I have to imagine it's gonna get ugly soon enough. I knew it was a matter of time. The last four reveals have all been great covers that weren't that great (depending on who you ask), so let's take a break from the "over-covered" songs and move on to one that Alan recorded which hasn't been covered much.

“Please Daddy (Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas)” was first recorded by John Denver in 1973 and is our third song to exit from Alan’s first holiday album Honky Tonk Christmas. This came in as the second most polarizing song overall as it did see some wide ranging support across the board. The top 5’s are slowly beginning to peel away as taylor is terrified loses their second while castleoblivion26 loses his first. I’ve honestly never cared much for this song myself and I only moved it out of my last place with my final edit. I’m joined down in the bottom two by Kris Kringle and Cody Wants Out... while someguy put this in his bottom 3.

Up next is one that I consider to be a great cover personally ... with only a couple others not in agreement.

“Silent Night” bows out next and came in as our tenth least polarizing song. This did manage to make its way into the top 10 early on as it received its first and only top 5 from Kanenrá:ke . It then quickly dipped outside of the top 15 with our only bottom 2 ranking coming from taylor is terrified . From there it pretty much hovered around the top 15 as it couldn’t quite recover from a few of the lower-end rankings including a bottom 3. I absolutely adore Alan’s version of this timeless classic and think that his voice along with the simple production set the perfect mood. I've found that I revisit his rendition multiple times each holiday season and whenever I do I find myself almost having to stop whatever I'm in the middle of so that I can intently listen.

Our second least polarizing song “White Christmas” exits just as we enter the top 15. This timeless classic received three top 10’s including one from taylor is terrified , Kanenrá:ke , and LBTrocks as well a handful of top 15’s. All but one participant put this in their top 20 and it was a last place at that from Cody Wants Out... . This is definitely one of the most-covered holiday songs and yet more than not I end up enjoying most renditions that I hear. I’m not sure quite how they recorded Let It Be Christmas, but whatever they did really captures Alan’s voice in a way that few of his previous albums have. Couple that with the orchestra and it really makes for a pleasant listen.

how is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" still in. I also think "Jingle Bells" and "Winter Wonderland" need to go as well. Also bboat11 seems I was wrong about "Just Put A Ribbon In Your Hair" lol

With only two more songs to reveal this evening I think it's a good time for a short pause. Any guesses which two songs exit before the top 12?!

I also think "Jingle Bells" and "Winter Wonderland" need to go as well. Done and done!! I just decided to reveal them in a one-two punch

“Jingle Bells” bows out just inside the top 15 coming in as our seventh most polarizing song. Unfortunately for HeyHeyHey he becomes our first participant to depart with their second top ranking song. Everyone placed this inside their top 20 where it also received a handful of top 10 support. Alan brings quite a bit of life to his version and I do enjoy it quite a bit, but alas it’s another on of those over-covered holiday classics that I sometimes I tire of. And speaking of a one-two punch, Kanenrá:ke becomes our second participant to lose their second top ranking song with the departure of “Winter Wonderland”. The majority of the group put this in their top 15 with only a few outside of that including a lone bottom 3 from Cody Wants Out... . HeyHeyHey placed this just inside his top 5 while someguy , taylor is terrified , and myself lose a top 10. Again, I love the big band/jazz infused instrumentation of Alan's rendition and his version is one that I find myself revisiting a handful of times each season.

it seems outside of "Santa Claus Is Coming In A Pickup Truck", "Please Daddy", and "If You Don't Wanna See Santa Claus Cry", the Honky Tonk Christmas album is doing REALLY well as the Let It Be Me album gets knocked out one by one! Can't say I'm upset with that because I LOVE that first album!

the Honky Tonk Christmas album is doing REALLY well as the Let It Be Me Christmas album gets knocked out one by one! I'm actually quite surprised at how well Alan's first album is holding up! Going into the top 12 Honky Tonk Christmas has 7 of its ten tracks remaining while Let It Be Christmas only has 3 of its eleven tracks remaining. I am going to stop there for the night and pick right back up tomorrow! I'm not sure if I'll get through all twelve songs tomorrow, but I'll for sure likely have this wrapped up before any of the other Christmas rankdowns get started. Which version of "There's a New Kid in Town" will come out ahead??? Will both of them make the top 10??? Also, we do have one tie in the rankdown and that comes down to songs #10 and #11...tune in tomorrow evening to find out! And since we're down to the final 12 songs this song seems appropriate

I thought “Please Daddy (Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas) was either going to be super dark or super silly and somehow it is both and neither of those things. An oddly uptempo song about a serious topic.

I'll for sure likely have this wrapped up before any of the other Christmas rankdowns get started. Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that!! Well, I honestly wasn't expecting you to jump right into Reba's and finish it all up in one night! It was probably for the best though I'm not in any rush to get through Alan's, but I'll likely have this all wrapped up by either tomorrow night or Wednesday! And with that said let's go ahead and jump right back in where we left off...here comes your #12!

Leading us off this evening is Alan’s rendition of “Silver Bells” which comes in as the sixth least polarizing song of the rankdown. This more or less hovered around the top 15 and even flirted with the top 10 a few times. All but taylor is terrified put this in their top 20 with it garnering three top 10’s as well as two top 5’s from Kanenrá:ke and LBTrocks. I’ve always Alan’s take on this classic and I really tried to make room for it in my top 10, but in the end it had to settle just outside of that. I’m glad to see this one get as much support from the group as it did!

As I mentioned yesterday evening we have one tie in the rankdown and that came down to which two songs make the top 10. One of the songs has two top 5's and three top 10's while the other has three top 5's and only one top 10. But...one of the songs also has two bottom 3 rankings while everyone else placed the other song in their top 20 which also means it has a lower standard deviation.
So, without further ado I present the song to lose that tiebreaker.

“There’s a New Kid in Town” with Chris Young is the first of the two versions to exit and is also the most recent song to be featured as it was released in 2016. The predictions as to which version would leave first were evenly split with bboat11 saying this one would come out ahead while castleoblivion26 correctly guessed that Keith’s would easily do the best. This just also happened to land right in the middle of the pack as it had both the 12th lowest and 12th highest standard deviation. It had a bit of a rough start thanks to my bottom 3 ranking, but it quickly climbed into the top 5 thanks to it receiving three top 10 rankings in a row. It was able to hold onto its top 10 status up until the very end mostly due to it receiving a bottom 2 ranking from kw9461. I’m personally partial to the version with Keith Whitley and so while I appreciate what Chris and Alan did with the song it’s just never going to be something that I’m likely to revisit in the future.
