As badly as y'all always treat George in these things, I am pleasantly surprised to see this song make the top 15! While Reba's "Forever Love" is my favorite love song of all time, George's "I Cross My Heart" is right on its heels as my 2nd favorite.
I know Pulse always hates love songs because they're "cheesy" (which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, for reasons I have elaborated on several times before), but this song has a really earnest and warm vocal from George that just makes all the "cheesy" lyrics completely come to life. You can bet good and damn well that the promise of this ending up on my eventual wedding playlist is a requirement that is used to eliminate people who are not a good match 😂

At #14 we have our first (and I believe only) song to finish at #2 in multiple rankdowns in this set! Terri Clark's "Damn Right" proved to be a huge force in sabre14 's 2004-2006 Hidden Gems of Country rankdown, securing itself a #2 finish that was honestly more than I had even dreamed to hope for Of course I was midway through revealing the Life Goes On album rankdown when that rd ended, and it also finished at #2 in that one. So this song went from never having even been in a rankdown before (scratch that, it was in her singles rd, lol. Still, it had barely been used before!) to being a 2x #2 finisher, in two consecutive rankdowns that finished only 3 days apart from each other! This song is such a huge jam, that has honestly done nothing but grow on me through the years. Age has only made this one better! I can't believe it was allowed to flop on radio as badly as it did!

PSA for those who need to hear it: Unless you are doing a rankdown that consists of nothing but '90s Reba Jams, there is literally NEVER a situation where it is appropriate to put '90s Reba jams in the bottom 10 of a rankdown.

Out of all the George Strait songs that y'all have condemned to undeserved untimely deaths over the course of this series, "Adalida" is NOT the one I imaged you guys would almost send into the top 10! Don't get me wrong, I love it! But I'm easily in the top 3 George stans here, and I love just about everything he ever released. It's just that this song has a sound that I always expect to be polarizing, and it's not one of his better-known hits. I guess it must be an example of a big-risk/big-reward situation. He mixed up his usual style just enough to come up with something that really got your attention!

"Diane" really deserved to be massive for Cam :'(
I'm glad "Live Like You Were Dying" made it into the top 10, I know it's a song prone to being tanked but it is an absolute 2000s classic and I adore it.

Let's go ahead and do a bonus before we kick off this top 10!
Bonus: "Before He Cheats" - Carrie Underwood
Finished at #2 in the:
"Before He Cheats" has always been that song that continues to do extremely well......yet continues to get stuck behind more popular songs. Lmao it finished at #2 in Carrie's first singles rd but got stuck behind "Blown Away", made it all the way to #2 in the 2006 year-end rankdown but got stuck behind The Wreckers' "Leave The Pieces", made it to #2 in the Some Hearts album rd but came up short to "Wasted", and then came up at #2 once again in yet another showdown with "Blown Away" in her singles rd 2.0... This song seemed to be cursed!!! Until........

"Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" is just such an iconic pop culture phenomenon. I never know what to expect from it in rankdowns, but seeing it do well enough to enter the RotB series for the first time was pretty nice, and I feel like top 10 is a wonderful achievement for this song here! I always expect it (and most of Shania's music, tbh) to be more polarizing than it seems to end up being. Shania's not done yet though, as she still has "If You're Not In It For Love" in the running here, as well as "Any Man Of Mine" in the BotB rd! I wonder how much longer those will last! Tim McGraw is now the only artist in the top 10 with multiple songs remaining Still feeling all doomy and gloomy about how he'd do in this rd, ClevelandRox? ;)

“Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” will never be a favorite Shania song for me but it’s aged so well and that iconic guitar literally is a MOMENT.

"I Just Want To Dance With You" is one of those songs that is so iconic that it is borderline inescapable.....and that pervasiveness might work against it just as much as it works for it, lol. Speaking for me personally, as much as I love this song and think it has an iconic melody, I am still so burnt out on it that I rarely want to listen to it. And that's coming from a huge fan!
So it was really hard for me to rank here. I probably underranked it, tbh. But still, seeing it be one of George's very few top 10 entries in this series is very nice! I'm a little shocked that this song did this well, largely due to overplay! Although maybe the familiarity helped it here?
Either way, I can understand people loving this one and hating it.
This is the end of George's run in this RotB, but "True" and "Heartland" both remain in BotB!!!

Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe Diffie!!
This is a great song and I wouldn’t have been upset to see it take the whole thing because of how strong this list was but this feels like the right spot for it, though I am sure to an outsider looking in SHeDAISY is the clear outlier LMAO. Queens of Country.

"John Deere Green" is one of those iconic decade-defining classics from the '90s. I was really surprised when stuff like "Bigger Than The Beatles" and "Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox" got tanked out of his artist rd too early due to overplay, but then this one didn't suffer the same fate! Lol this has got to be one of his most overplayed songs ever! However, it 100% deserves that top 2 finish, as well as this top 8 finish here Such a classic, fun, perfect song describing that small town love that we all wish were were lucky enough to experience! Lol

"I'm Taking The Wheel" has been one of my enduring favorites since we did the album rankdown I've returned to it quite a lot, actually! This one is such a jam, and I LOVE that iconic opening line ("What's mine is mine, what's yours is MINE!") Just such an infectious, feel-good jam! So happy to see SHeDAISY get another top 10 entry to this series with this song, especially considering how "In Terms Of Love" fared over in BotB...

Lucky number 7!!! SHeDAISY warming up to the haters one album at a time!!! Even tim didn’t tank it!! Yeah, I meant to point out that they literally didn't get a single bottom 15 rank! Like, the fact that they didn't make it any higher is just a testament to how strong the top contenders in these rds always are!
