Dumbo deserved top 3! </3 I'm glad it was higher than Fantasia at least.  @ people seriously thinking that was THE BEST movie in this list and that it should've won... and this is coming from someone who actually likes it, lmfao. |

Rooting for Pinocchio!!!!! Snow White is great, but it has many of the same rushing problems as Dumbo to me. For example, when Snow White gets kissed, wakes up from the curse, and then just takes off with the Prince without anybody telling her what actually happened As far as she knows, the old lady who gave her the apple told the truth! She bit the apple, and the next thing she knew, woke up to the love of her life kissing her She doesn't even know that they were all mourning her death just moments before! |

Go Pinocchio. Yes as impactful and groundbreaking Snow White was, I feel a bit more imagination with Pinocchio. I mean s**t, even the villain actually got away with his actions...something the remake is going to butcher.
Also, one last thing, yes all the other films were shorter and had memorable characters, but Fantasia was viewed as the winner for pretty much how absolutely groundbreaking it was, combining the use of music with animation pieces. Some which were pure beauty, ESPECIALLY Night on Bald Mountain. I mean the juxtaposition of Chernabog the freakinโ DEVIL and the Catholics, one of the best of animation.
I wonโt lie though, it was the Mount Olympus bit that held me back.

I already said my piece about Snow White feeling a bit rushed, but there is no doubt that it has created some truly iconic characters and scenes that are still so relevant to our modern pop culture! The way that they gave each dwarf a unique yet immediately recognizable personality despite individuals each having relatively little screen time is iconic. The evil queen, and her "mirror mirror on the wall" speech. The "Heigh Ho" song. It's amazing how iconic it has all become. It is a fitting winner, even if it is not a perfect movie from front to back.
I consider Bambi and Pinocchio to both be much stronger movies from a plot standpoint. Pinocchio does drag the slightest bit because it almost feels like they tried to shove too much into it, but each piece does still fit perfectly into the puzzle, so I overall don't complain about it. And the side characters are all sooooo memorable, from Jiminy Cricket to Cleo to Figaro to Mr. Geppetto to Monstro to the fairy princess, etc.
I didn't know Disney's chronology super well, but Bambi doesn't feel like one of their super early movies to me, so I was honestly a bit taken aback to see it on this list! While most of these movies in the Golden/Wartime eras are very obviously early films, this movie is timeless. With the animation quality, you could have told me it came out in the '80s and I would have believed you. The death of Bambi's mother is so shocking, but it gives this movie a more realistic feeling where you would typically expect a Disney movie to have a rosy sheen to it. And let's be real, Disney's ability to take literal animals and make them have a believable social hierarchy is every bit as revolutionary for the time period as stuff like Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and so many others have been for Pixar in our lifetimes.

I remember when Fantasia was coming out on VHS for the first time like the same week of my 8th birthday, I was sooooo excited for a Mickey Mouse movie I even had a Mickey themed birthday party.  And needless to say I WAS SO DISSAPOINTED. ๐ No dialogue besides the boring conductor and just the one Mickey scene, I really was a kid that loved all movies but I never wanted to watch Fantasia again lol BUT it's aged so well for me! So many classic music pieces we hear in our daily lives today due to being free to use now and no copyright, but I automatically picture the animated scene it plays to in Fantasia almost every single time I hear one. I did watch it on cough syrup for an 'experience' in my early 20's. It was NOT a good trip. |

 We have ranked the Gold Era and The Wartime Era. It is time to move on to the next two Eras! With the Silver Era Disney would return to the long form movies and Cinderella would be their first full-length movie since Bambi. This movie would be their first major success since their very first movie Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs! This success did not help propel Alice In Wonderland to early success however as that one would not be received very well initially. Peter Pan was a mild success initially despite receiving critisism for not staying true to the original play. Lady and the Tramp would be Disney's first movie released by their own distribution company and would be a huge success for them. Disney's next release was Sleeping Beauty, which would be their most expensive movie made up to this point. Costing Disney the combined budget of Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Lady and The Tramp, it was expected for Sleeping Beauty to perform well at the box office and perform well it did not. A few years later Disney would release 101 Dalmation, which was released on a much smaller budget and became a huge success. Walt Disney's final movie to be released in his lifetime was The Sword In The Stone. This movie would be a success for them as well. Walt's final film he ever worked on that was released after his death is also the final movie of the Silver Era! The Jungle Book was released in 1967 and ended up becoming Disney's 2nd biggest success up to that point. The Bronze Era kicks off the Post-Walt Disney team. New filmmakers came on-board and new styles were attempted that changed things up. The first movie was The Aristocats, which happened to be the final film that Walt Disney ever put into production. This movie ended up being a big success. The next movie was Robin Hood and this one was also a success. Next up a bunch of shorts based on the character and world of Winnie the Pooh were put together to create a larger film that would make up The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh. This would be the first package film released since The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad. The final film of the Bronze Era ended up being the most successful of the short era. The Rescuers would go on to make the most money of all animated films up to its release in 1977, a record it would hold until An American Tail in 1986. Rewatched Cinderella and Peter Pan this afternoon. Forgot a lot of the smaller parts I liked about Cinderella so it was a nice revisit. Peter Pan has not aged well even if I ignore the racist parts. Peter is kinda an asshole lol I still liked some parts of the movie but it was a hard watch tbh.

My sister and I have been having the slowest marathon ever. We just finished 101 Dalmations! For some reason I thought this rd only went through The Jungle Book, so I thought we were going to finish right on time, but I guess I'll have to convince her to come over more often so we can pick up the pace!
