I've done a terrible job with doing reminders but this is due in 2 days. Is there anyone who needs more time? I'm thinking of giving a 1 month extension, but if everyone who is interested can get me a list by Friday or Saturday then we can wrap this set up this weekend. I do agree that The Rescuers and Alice In Wonderland are on the lower end of these movies but I've enjoyed both a bit

It was the only movie that I had never seen even at least once prior to doing this RD, and I did like it (especially Archimedes!! I'm a sucker for the cute critters in almost every Disney movie), but it doesn't care any nostalgia for me like most of this list does nor did it leave a huge impression on me.

It was the only movie that I had never seen even at least once prior to doing this RD, and I did like it (especially Archimedes!! I'm a sucker for the cute critters in almost every Disney movie), but it doesn't care any nostalgia for me like most of this list does nor did it leave a huge impression on me.

that makes sense, it is always hard to beat out nostalgia. That came into play on my list, especially near the top. Archimedes is such a great character too!

Alice In Wonderland is such an iconic movie that I have heard about all my life but had never really seen more than maybe once as a kid who was too young to remember anything. So given its iconic status I was shocked to finally watch it as an adult for this series and realize........this is just plain not a very good movie The entire plot is basically just some strung out drug trip. Every character was annoying as s**t, lmao. And I mean EVERY character.

The Aristocats is one of Disney's more underrated classics, imo. This movie is so clever, and so fun, and the music is so good, and the side characters are so endearing, and the plot flows smoothly, and the main characters are worth rooting for, and the positives just keep going and going. I am absolutely floored that this was last place more than anything else! Thank god I came through with taste in the end!

The Rescuers seems to be one of their more forgotten classics, but I found this to be pretty enjoyable. Definitely not as finely-crafted as their best movies, but an enjoyable watch with no glaring issues nonetheless. The whole kidnapping of an unsupervised child angle feels especially sinister and heinous in our modern context, probably even moreso than when the movie was first released. Also, what an amazing character the cat in the orphanage was And I found it kinda funny that he had the same voice as the angry badger in Fox and Hound 😂

Catching up on thoughts:

Aristocats: Yes, it's adorable, but it's still lesser Disney. The "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" is a highlight.

The Rescuers: It's cute, but it didn't move much past cute for me. Fine with it coming out close to my 11th ranking.

Peter Pan: I'll give the caveat that nostalgia influenced this one a lot. And I will say that yes, this movie contains one of the most racist scenes/songs in the Disney catalog. But it also has so much magic and adventure and some absolutely great humor. I also think it's one of the best collection of characters Disney put out in the early years. That said, I get why some would tank it for it's issues - but I would rather watch them in context of the times and use the theme of overcoming childish things that's in the movie to address the racism that's present.

I am going to echo most of what I said about Alice In Wonderland for Peter Pan... It's obviously been a super iconic classic for my entire life, but we didn't own it so I probably only saw it like once at someone else's house as a little kid and promptly forgot everything. Let's just say I was not at all impressed when I watched it for this series!!! I don't care about the racist undertones or anything. It's a product of its time period, and obviously can be used as a learning opportunity. But what this movie suffers from is a major lack of characters to root for. Except for the crocodile.

Peter Pan and Tinker Bell are like the two most iconic characters from this movie, and I was left wondering why. Tinker Bell is literally a raging bitch for this entire movie!! Like, why is she so popular?!?! She literally spends the entire movie trying to get Wendy KILLED out of jealousy, and then she nearly gets Peter and all the Lost Boys killed in her desire to sell out Wendy. Her only redemption is that she freaks out when she realizes that Peter is going to be killed instead of just Wendy Oh boy, what a hero she is! Literally every bad thing in this movie could have been avoided if she wasn't such a one-dimensional hag!

And then there's Peter. It's not that he does anything wrong, it's more like his character is very cocky and egotistical and arrogant and immature. I know that he is supposed to be a child, so the immaturity makes sense, but he honestly left me feeling like I had no reason at all to root for him.
