Average Album SPS / Pure Album Sales / Digital Song Sales for top 10 positions in the "Streaming Era".
Pure sales and Digital sales are dropping each year as expected. BUT the average #1 Digital Songs is higher than in 2019, thanks bundles/20 versions/ website sales and company.

Honestly can't wait for these Xmas songs to just leave in two days and be back to normal update. You mean back to kinda miserable numbers? It sucks that Spotify is the only streaming platform to communicate real numbers, Spotify has already peaked.

Is Lil Durk a big deal tho? Outside of the Drake collab I've never heard about him, but admittedly that could just be me. Dropping a day before the tracking week ends is pretty dumb though. He's had a few songs chart in the lower half of the Hot 100 throughout the year, and apparently his remix of Heart On Ice helped that song become a hit. Maybe something from this new album will take off, but we'll see. I think we'll see a few songs from Durk chart low, but Carti will dominate the conversation on 1/9.

That Ed song is truly doing bad yikes. Has a song ever been as low as #132 on US Spotify while #1 on Todayβs Top Hits lol.
Seems like they didnβt like the gift he gave them.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this here, but Lil Durk released his album The Voice overnight and its tracks are currently invading AM. So we could be seeing a double album bomb of some sort between him and Playboi Carti for the week of 1/9, all while the Christmas music exits. I only see Durk charting maybe 3 or 4 songs tbh, don't think he's really big enough to get a proper album bomb

Meanwhile, the hype for Whole Lotta Red is through the roof, and I can see the album bomb being similar in both size and scope to that of Uzi's Eternal Atake, maybe even bigger given how weak the charts will still be even as the non-Christmas songs recover.

I never thought i heard a perfect Christmas song until i heard this. Yeah as much as we have the success and greatness of βall i want for christmasβ and βrocking aroundβ, i wish this song had as much of a success as these two. Last christmas is so iconic and timeless to the point where this could be played randomly in June and i would think itβs just another normal 80s song

Durk has 10 of the top 11 on Apple rn. We'll see if Xmas (/Playboi Carti) pushes him down.
If it wasn't for Durk, Xmas would have #1 2 3 5 7 8.

Anyway it's not like it lacks success and is some underrated gem. It's among the top 10 holiday songs of all-time, so not sure how there is room for complaint.

Honestly can't wait for these Xmas songs to just leave in two days and be back to normal update. Will they completely leave though? Since tomorrow is Christmas, they will get at least one strong day of streams and sales, and while almost vanishing for the other 6 days, they won't completely reduce to zero. Airplay will be much less, as the new tracking week for that starts on Monday, the 28th, however my general impression each year is that even airplay doesn't disappear 100% right after Christmas day, and has residual amounts at least until New Year's? Could the top performing Christmas songs, e.g. Mariah and Brenda, stay in the top 50 another week?

They might get 1000 in sales and 1-2 million airplay impressions. I don't know enough to know if that would be enough for top 50.

Here's how many Christmas songs charted in the Spotify Top 200 in the last 7 days of 2019: December 25th: 130 December 26th: 23 December 27th: 0 December 28th: 0 December 29th: 0 December 30th: 0 December 31st: 0 Maybe AIWFCIY, RATCT, and others could stick around for longer/higher than expected due to the weakness of the Spotify charts right now, but if last year was any indication, Christmas playlists are totally rotated out within a couple of days after Christmas Day.

Plus, the charts are hella weak. Not to say Durk isn't doing great, but non-Christmas songs on Spotify are topping out at 830k. Part of it is lack of competition.

i assume that the non-christmas songs will recover post-christmas? the weakness now is largely due to everyone listening to christmas songs instead, no?

Lil Baby's On Me was #2 on AM a few days back and is barely top 60 on H100, so being top 3 on AM alone doesn't mean much. We need to wait for Spotify numbers to have a better picture.

At 37 the odds aren't great for Carrie to make the Top 100 of Apple Music outside of December, so it's great to see Hallelujah do it.

Durk literally had 0 ( zero) top 40 songs on Billboard before Drake, and now suddenly he occupies the entire top 10 on AM. What. the f**k? For anyone wondering about Durk, he's been on the Chicago rap scene for nearly a decade now and he's kind of a hometown hero over there. He first charted on a song from the Lil Baby-Gunna collab album two years back, and he's built up a fair amount of industry support by working with rappers such as Chief Keef, Lil Tecca, Lil Reese, and the late King Von among others. It definitely seems like all of that was finally parlayed into a guest spot on a Drake song which has catapulted him to new heights and exposed him to a new audience. He's a well-respected and liked guy in the hip-hop scene and after around 10 years of constant grinding and dropping projects, he's got a bit of a moment going here. Of course, he's no Lil Baby just yet, because Baby needed a follow-up hit in "Drip Too Hard" to prove his stardom. I don't think Durk is going to be a success story a la Baby either, but I think his long-term prospects are far better than someone like Blocboy JB, whose album was critically panned and derided. Durk has built up enough goodwill that I think he'll stick around on the peripherals, getting top 20 albums and the occasional charting song. Obv I don't know sh*t though because I'm no psychic.
