this week will be another record breaking week: - Mariah, first artist to have a song topping Hot 100 in 3 different years - Mariah, Xmas song with the most weeks at no.1 - All Xmas songs on Top 5 - Most Xmas songs on Top 10 Hot 100 (at most probably 8 Xmas songs, Mood and Positions will definitely stay) - Taylor, biggest drop from no.1 (predicted to fall from 1 - 36) - If Wham hits top 10: * among the biggest span from first top 10 to the most recent top 10 for a group What group holds the record? * among the longest wait for a top 10 after last top 10 for a group What group holds the record? Isnt AIWFCIY the biggest drop tho? from no.1 (1-out). ;) please delete this before gary sees

Of course And it will likely happen again on the 1/9 chart For a song to go from 1 to OUT, it has to fall at least 50 spots --- to date only one song has done that.

With a 36 year span of top ten appearances (Sept. 1984-January 2021) and 34 year gap between them, Wham! would probably take the record. Santana have a 33 year span from 1970 to 2003 and a 28 year gap from 1971-1999. The Beatles have a span of just under 32 years (from "I Want To Hold Your Hand" in January 1964 to "Free As A Bird" in January 1996) and a 19 year gap from 1976-1995. If you count Prince's Revolution as a group they have a 32 year span from 1984 to 2016 and a 34 year gap from 1986-2016.. If "Dreams" had managed to go just two spots higher this year, Fleetwood Mac would have had a 43 year span of top tens (1977-2020) and a 33 year gap between last and most recent (1987-2020).

Playboi Carti has announced that his long-awaited album Whole Lotta Red will drop this Friday (Christmas Day), just in time for all the Christmas songs to leave and be replaced by his album bomb.

I saw a post on Pulse recalculate Scorpionβs debut week with the updated formula, and it took up 10/10 of the Top 10 My comment wasnβt meant to be another in the long line of βdRaKe iS eViLβ complaints, to be clear. Itβs not like the rules were changed in a way that would specifically benefit him, but 10/10 slots is a lot better than 7/10 If those calculations are correct, then Drake will almost certainly command the entire top 10, maybe even 15?? However, thatβs not happening this week, so letβs bring it to the H100 or Drake discussion threads if we wanna talk more

Sheeran only #53 on Spotify. Game over!

Sheeran only #53 on Spotify. Game over! To be fair, it was a totally lowkey release, from its announcement to the type of song. I don't think he'll ever be able to replicate the smashing success of the "Divide" era, but I can see "Afterglow" being a grower once the Christmas songs are gone. We'll have to wait and see, but it's definitely way too soon to jump into conclusions.

I was thinking "game over" for this week, but you're right.
Surely it'll climb by default next week when the Xmas songs are in decline.

I never expected Afterglow to smash tbh. But lead single to his new album will be huge imo.

I don't care what Taylor did,all artists have. However lets be honest if Drake did the same thing all yall saying leave Taylor alone would be dragging Drake up and down this thread

Plus we now see he debuted down at #53 on U.S. Spotify.

Oh my f**king god let us BREATHE, Drake is coming January 2021, give us time to prepare I'll say this, if it means less songs will be returning from recurrency for a chance to repeat on the 2021 YE, I'm OK with this. However, I do agree that it's annoying that this has to happen the week we get to see what the Hot 100 should have looked like for the past several weeks.
