The Ed song is getting lots of promotion for a 'gift' lol.
Radio deal, #1 on Today's Top Hits, iTunes banner, etc. Starting to think they at least want it to be a moderate hit.

It's a gift in the same way "Without Me" was a standalone single for Halsey... It's gonna show up on the album if it becomes a hit.

Just because he called it "A Christmas Present", doesn't mean he doesn't want it to be a hit. and about the Spotify's Today's Top Hits, ofc it's #1, he is the most followed artist on the platform AND his biggest competition is positions, which is 2 months old.

In terms of the all-time Artist lists Billboard does, will they adjust for things like album bombs? It's tough to compare now to artists charting songs in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Someone could have 10 album bombs that size, and wouldn't even have more points than a hit like "Toosie Slide". 140 album tracks point total wouldn't even surpass a below-average #1's points. Glee Cast had 200+ entries, and didn't make the top 100, versus Boyz II men who made #39 with 18 entires. Songs that chart for one week mean nothing.

In terms of the all-time Artist lists Billboard does, will they adjust for things like album bombs? It's tough to compare now to artists charting songs in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Drake has 139 singles (based on Wikipedia) 27 of which have not charted have "-" on Wikipedia, so 112 singles. When i updated this he had 227 chart entries. That leaves 115 album tracks.
The sum of the lowest 115 tracks is 256,269 points out of his total 10.9 million. I just assumed all the singles did better than all the album tracks, too much work otherwise. Like it is 250k from 100+ songs, it might give him the edge for a single position if the difference is 100/200k, but it won't change much. And this is Drake no other artist has this many album tacks charted. The table:
{Spoiler} Drake | Points | Total: | 10,932,005 | Songs: | 227 | God's Plan | 1,004,610 | Nice For What | 689,710 | Hotline Bling | 681,564 | In My Feelings | 664,110 | One Dance | 640,560 | Best I Ever Had | 501,960 | Hold On, We're Going Home | 345,800 | Started From The Bottom | 335,538 | Toosie Slide | 335,280 | Find Your Love | 317,000 | Fake Love | 273,940 | Work | 238,782 | No Guidance | 211,476 | Take Care | 210,084 | Headlines | 205,700 | Laugh Now Cry Later | 188,160 | Life Is Good | 180,072 | The Motto | 178,773 | What's My Name? If you're referring to the all-time charts, they don't adjust or have any specific rules for album tracks, because they basically have such a small count of points to begin with. The formula is specifically favored to benefit huge charting singles as lead artist. Songs that chart at #98 for 1 week, or even for 100 weeks barely count at all. It's all about charting for a long time in the upper (top 10) positions.

All time charts are weekly inverse point systems with weights applied no?
It would seem a properly released single would be treated the same point wise as a song that only charts a week or two

Does Mariah Carey have the longest chart span at #1 as a songwriter?
Pretty sure Irving Berlin extended his span for top 10, top 40 and overall.
Bing Crosby owns the top 40 and overall as a performer. Maybe Nat King Cole for top 10 span with βThe Christmas Songβ. Cher still holds the #1 chart span (she did perform on βI Got You Babeβ after all).

Good call! Bound to be answer.
Does anyone have Irving Berlinβs chart history as a writer. Wonβt be able to date back to βAlexanderβs Rag Time Bandβ but to have his most recent top 10 in the 80βs (Taco) is unbelievable.

Yeah it really says a lot about the quality of music they both wrote. Canβt think of anyone else near the 75 year mark overall.

US Spotify - 12/21/2020 Top 10 Without Christmas Songs2 [13( +4)] Ariana Grande - 34+35 805,702 ( +60,411) 3 [15( +8)] Ariana Grande - positions 778,345 ( +70,216) Is there any other recent examples of two singles by the same artist being promoted at the same time and smashing together. I know Camila Cabello usually releases like this but I think one of them usually ends up flopping while the other takes off.

(With the latter hitting #1 before the former). There was also a point during sweetener and thank, u next where Ariana had three active singles (with "breathin" dying but "break up with..." taking off soon after). Justin had a lot of overlap during his Purpose era... and he's currently rising on radio with two different songs.

Post Malone did it with rockstar & Psycho, then Psycho with Better Now, Wow. and Sunflower and again with Goodbyes and Circles (and to an extent Sunflower since it was in the Top 10 with Goodbyes briefly) I also remember Ariana had like 5 songs floating around radio at one point

I assume mood is gunna be number 1 after this week. I really did not expect it to potentially be a 9-10 week number 1 if Christmas songs werenβt there...

Do we know streaming numbers or estimates on Amazon music? It should be really huge "a lot" Based on the audio streaming numbers, probably 15-20 million which is far more than Spotify. Someone asking Alexa to automatically play Christmas music should probably be counted as programmed not a full paid stream... same goes for autoplaying videos. They prob won't change it though because Amazon Music pays decently unlike Pandora
