Sometimes I wonder what is hated more....BTS or the Billboard formula?! I'd aruge that people have a lot more disdain for BTS stans than BTS themselves. The most people could say about BTS is that they aren't into their music/their music sucks/etc. Stans are mostly always the issue, not the artists themselves. Many people also have issues with many things Billboard currently allows but most people could care less.

Mood has gone to #1 on Spotify US for the first time with over 900K streams, the largest for any song since Christmas Day. A lot of 2020’s biggest hits saw increases too.

we're really doing this huh... Seriously, what is fueling this that it can go as high as 2? Its radio sucks, it's streaming and its sales are lackluster. I like the song and all but there's really nothing to fuel it that it can go that high.

If Dynamite returns to no. 1, must be the first time a single returned to no. 1 after the following single hit no. 1. since T.I. did it with WYL and LYL in 2008.

Omg at Mood going #1 on Spotify for the first time. Kinda surprised at its longevity to be honest (on all metrics, tbh). Wish 24kGoldn seized the opportunity to present himself a bit more with the song, Mood seems like one of those cases where people will eventually end up saying the song was "bigger than the artist". Also WAP WAP WAP back in the Top 10, a NYE treat. Recently certified 9x-platinum single I Like It also at #159 #194. We luv to see it EDIT: I think my finger slipped.

That's like 1 billion on-demand streams in the U.S. (plus digital sales), no?

Mood really would've had a few extra weeks at #1 without the bullshit of Life Goes On and willow (probably would've been #1 a week earlier without the Savage Love remix).

How there's tons of posts, even in this weeks thread of how such and such shouldn't be charting or is only a radio hit, because they don't appear on the top ten or twenty of Spotify. When in reality often those maligned songs or acts are top twenty on on the overall Billboard streaming chart. It's probably happening because the Spotify charts are faithfully posted daily whereas the others are not. Leading to a perception of importance issue.

Mood really would've had a few extra weeks at #1 without the bulls**t of Life Goes On and willow (probably would've been #1 a week earlier without the Savage Love remix). Wasn't Willow going to number two before gimmicks? That was AIWFCIY's week, anyway.

I don't think the influence of sales should be reduced. Sure, sales can be used to manipulate the charts but 1) this is not new (i.e. singles in the 90's being repressed to maximize peak) and 2) radio airplay and streaming can also be manipulated. That said, I do think they should revise what can count toward sales in two main ways. First, there should be a limit to how many remixes can count toward a single song's chart points. Not sure what the limit would be though. Second, $0.69 should be lowest discounted price allowed for a song to be able to count toward chart points. $0.69 was usually the lowest a song would be discounted for anyway. It was one of those unspoken rules that everyone had followed up until recently. They might as well just make that an official rule instead of an unspoken one.

Speaking of Mood, I think it along with ROCKSTAR, WAP and Blinding Lights got robbed of more weeks at 1 with all these stupid debuts and remixes.

Blinding Lights got robbed of more weeks at 1 with all these stupid debuts and remixes. It really wasn't, it isn't Drake's fault his song was so huge on streaming that week. Cardi and DaBaby got fucked over, though.
