Looking at the Spotify top 200 for yesterday, the ‘classics’ (i.e. pre-1980s) had the biggest gains. I wonder if that ‘Christmas Classics’ playlist is the reason.

That's kinda why it would be nice if there was a way for Billboard to track what plays are coming from playlists on the streaming services. I mean, are some of the holiday songs really sought-out/searched-for "hits"? Aside from the ol' reliables that dominate, of course.

For some holiday songs, I imagine the bulk of streams come from playlists, Alexa commands to play general holiday music, etc. On the flip side, I guess playlist streams don't differ all that much from radio airplay in some cases; Pandora would be more like radio play; wonder if streams from there are weighted similarly to radio play.

The daily chart easily confirms it. Carti had #4 and #5 on the daily chart yesterday, despite his two highest songs only reaching #7 and #8 on the live chart even now.

Oh really? Dynamite during christmas is higher than WAP and Willow (that is literally a week old song) and others songs on both Global Spotify and on itunes 4 months after the release. Sales are organic by the way, it's selling music. Unless you are doing it for like $0,30. Paying radio stations to play your song is not. Dynamite is still a hit and is keep getting played in different things (like BBC 1 christmas ads, footbal trenings or played by celebrities like J.Lo)

These two statements are contradictory, because a big reason the song was able to let up on purchasing campaigns is because Columbia, hands-on as they are with radio, had been *cough* supporting *cough* the song to stations up until recently, enabling it to be one of the top audience gainers for weeks while having absolutely abysmal callout scores.
