What do you think of singers who sing alot about sex to get hits. Ariana comes to mind. When Mariah Carey did it with Touch My Body , it worked, however, releasing a whole album full of sex bops , thats desperate and attention seeking.

Ariana is the first example that comes to mind, and not the male rappers who have been doing it for decades without getting any flak for it?

The music industry is a business and this is simple economics. If consumers love to eat this stuff up ("34+35" is number one on US Spotify so it must be clicking) why shouldn't label executives and recording artists give them what they like and make easy cash? Sex has been selling for years and will continue to sell, so Ariana making an album full of sex jams as you've said (which isn't even accurate to begin with) isn't out of the norm.

Interestingly enough, only a few of the songs on the album are about sex/sexuality and most of it is actually about other things like identity, racism, self-discovery, destructive behavior and its consequences.

Sex is too universal and relatable a subject to not have songs about. With that said, there are plenty of bad, cringy songs about sex.

Well, some artists do tend to turn to a more sexual sound to garner more attention...
There was this girl in 2002 who could scream to the top of her lungs like no one else...her image and sound became very sexual and she still flopped...
This same girl tried it again in 2010 and flopped...I dont know her name but if someone can remind me...

Private Dancer If you happen to be referring to Christina Aguilera, that is a rather wrong assessment, given that "Stripped" was still a very successful era, and while her public image was provocative and sexual, the album itself was really personal and vulnerable, and "Dirrty" was more of an outlier compared to tracks like "Walk Away", "Beautiful", "The Voice Within", and "I'm OK". "Bionic" flopped for many reasons, but her expression of sexuality definitely wasn't one of them. The main factor was probably the constant comparisons with Lady Gaga fueled by Perez Hilton and other tabloid folks.
