This is the first time since Christmas where we have multiple songs hit 1M streams on Spotify.

All 30 songs in Morgan Wallen's album debuted in the Top 100 of Spotify. Given how strong is also was on AM, even if many of the songs fall off as I expect them to do, we could be in for the first ever country album bomb
Also without the Morgan Wallen album bomb, Save Your Tears would be at #25

^Songs from Morgan Wallen's album have started to slip a little bit as one would expect at Apple Music, since Good Days has already rebounded to #2 and they now are in the top 58 instead of the top 50. It will be interesting to see where they end up at the end of the tracking week.

We're really gonna have our first number 1 country song in a very long. WANEGBT US Billboard Hot 100 1 Decade-end charts Chart (2010β2019) Position US Hot Country Songs (Billboard)41 lmao. By that measure then the last country #1 was... Old Town Road not that long ago.

Didn't Luke Combs have an album bomb too.. or guess it depends what is a bomb. I doubt that Morgan can have more than 5-6 songs.

Old Town Road not that long ago. not when it was in the 50s in country airplay at best, barely a blip. shake it off did that too; mere curiosity spins. anyway: besides billie, a scroll through kworb records indicates Olivia's the only currently-teen girl who toplined a US spotify T5. Next youngest isΒ camila who's currently 23.

I wouldn't use Hot Country Songs as a measure since that is just a derivative of the Hot 100, I would use Country Airplay to determine what a true country song actually is

A country song that did great on the Hot Country Songs chart but was never a radio single. I donβt think anyone would reject that one as a true country song though. I do get what you mean though.

Morgan Wallen will definitely have a bigger album bomb than Luke Combs. His album is brand new and 27 of those songs hadn't been heard before yesterday. If he remains dominant on Apple Music throughout the week, his performance on Spotify won't really matter, and he'll still debut upwards of a dozen songs on the Hot 100, even if they're mostly in the 50-100 range of the chart.

Oh my goodness! "Save Your Tears" is already up to #48 on Spotify despite Morgan Wallen's album bomb! β€
Speaking of whom, what a great day for country music. It seems like the transition to crossover into streaming has finally been concluded.

There are counter examples of course Hot Country Songs or Digital Songs often get arbitrary assignments to genre based on the name of the artist Tennessee Whiskey did indeed get some country airplay but it didn't get very high. Not sure why, perhaps it sounds less country than the George Jones or David Allan Coe version that it came from - not sure Anyway for example - 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' the Taylor Swift's first entry as a pop singer- is that really a country song just because it was assigned that genre for Hot Country Songs and got some country airplay because of her name? Airplay is, in general though a better measure I think for country songs. If the song isn't truly country it is not going to get played on country radio very long, if at all

And let's not forget "The Bones" came extremely close at #12, even it it's more country-pop, I guess.

A country song by someone else than Taylor or Lil Nas X at #1 is only a matter of time. The labels just need to report 100k digital sales to Soundscan. :kii:

Like how Savage Remix was stuck at #14, then shot up to #4 but Bey wasn't credited yet because the remix didn't have 50.00% of the points yet. Megan didn't go T10 on her own at that time.

Just saw Olivia is part Asian too; even better. I had hopes for Hailee being a popstar, but musically after Starving she faded.

So what was the last song that went to #1 country (radio) and #1 pop without the aid of a pop remix?
