Teenage Dream - yeah, her best song...but there's something about that video too. so simple yet effective. if someone asks me what is the first video that associates me with the 2010s, this is it.
E.T. - probably the best video by Katy imo, everything is perfect.
Hot N Cold - the first thing I heard and saw from Katy, nostalgia plays a big role here, ngl.
The One That Got Away - I really like her acting here, great storyline too.

Dishonorable mention for the Dark Horse video. I've grown to... accept it, but there was potential for something much better with that song and theme.
Also, of the ones not listed, This is How We Do's video is fun a made the song much better.

No but in all seriousness Katy always delivers visuals. Her only duds are Birthday and Swish Swish. Teenage Dream was a bore as well but it wasn't bad and suited the song.

Itβs hard to be subjective cause I have connected most of these to the actual songs.
βE.T.β, βThe One That Got Awayβ & βWide Awakeβ are the obvious picks.
The fourth one was a toss up between βPart Of Meβ & βDark Horseβ but I went with βPart Of Meβ cause I donβt think itβs gonna get any votes :kii:

California Gurls - The candy land theme was the theme for the entire album and the purple & blue wigs became iconic Katy looks
Firework - One of those feel-good music videos with empowering storylines and a big firework ending with all the teens dancing around Katy
E.T. - I remember being floored by Katy's alien look in the video. The aesthetics of the music video are one of Katy's best
Last Friday Night - Big storyline, multiple celebrity appearances, and Katy's character of Kathy Beth Terry. It's not one of my personal favorite Katy videos but it's all around iconic.
I'd give an honorable mention to Roar with Katy's Tarzan/Jane look. Dark Horse has the massive views but I wouldn't consider it iconic.
Even though they're not on this list, the Chained To The Rhythm and Bon Appetit videos are still iconic <3

"Last Friday Night" was so fun! agreed, and that's my #1 pick. It also has held up the most on Spotify and Youtube over the years. If the whole era could be boiled down to one video, it would be this one. I was watching 13 Going on 30 the other day, and before she transformed into being 30, the party where they were was basically the LFN party scene. I think the most surprising thing about this is the fact there are people backing for Bon Apetit of all things Regardless of anyoneβs opinion of the song, the video is iconic. Katy is basically getting prepared and cooked only to turn on the diners at the end and eat them. Itβs easily her weirdest video and one of her most visually interesting. Plus she debuts her infamous pixie cut. Itβs an artistic masterpiece of a video and I will defend it against any slander. |
