295,000 units means she surpasses Taylor Swift's Fearless (TV) opening numbers!
She falls just short of Ariana Grande's streaming record (which she could have broken if SOUR also had 12 tracks like TUN):

Olivia is keeping her heels on the other girls' necks. Even if SOUR's theme is a bit monotonous, there are some really beautiful melodies, classic songwriting and gorgeous production on this record.

The Japanese version of Sour:
Japan, as always, gets the best when it comes to albums.

I think this album might not be that well regarded in the long run if she goes for more adventurous sounds in the long run, kinda like how a lot of Ariana's debut sounds tame in comparison to what she has explored afterwards. But the three singles, and probably "traitor" and "brutal", I think will stand the test of time and go on to become staples of a (hopefully) long career.

Gotta say that you’re wrong on both counts. 1) The streaming numbers don’t lie: This album is as a generational-defining classic as much as say, “1989” was. It’s probably even more than that. Anecdotally, people from ages 12-60 are finding emotional connections to it like no other recent album has. 2) For a lot of people including me, “Yours Truly” is still dope. Not “tame” at all. Yeah it has a couple of clunkers but overall I still like it a lot better than Sweetener (Pharell s**cks).

You're entitled to liking Yours Truly but to say SOUR is this generations 1989 is a bit... premature lmao.
Let's agree to disagree on that and keep streaming Ms. Liv's great album.

If Sour is any Taylor album then probably Fearless would be the most apt comparison.

It's crazy to see the amount of attention she's managed to capture outside of her target audience. She truly is the moment.

She really is the moment. I’m shocked because she doesn’t really “fit the mold” but she’s definitely coming out swinging like Lorde or Billie.

Oh and I want to be able to quote myself in 6 months. This girl is a lock for BNA at the Grammys. Wouldn’t it be something if they had Taylor announce BNA next year too.

I’m hoping she releases a deluxe, especially since this is only 11 tracks. I think that’d be a great idea to extend the longevity of an already amazing era.
Even just releasing a random single every 3 months or so and tacking onto the album would be nice, but I think she’d be smart to release a SWEET / SOUR deluxe version, adding some of the love songs that were scrapped from the album.
She’s projected to end the year with this album having close to 5.5 billion Spotify streams, she could easily have the most streamed female album of all time on the platform with a deluxe filled with extra hits.

She should milk this album in my opinion. There are so many songs with potential to be successful singles as observed by streaming numbers.

Her streaming consistency is amazing. Haven't personally ever seen another album hold on as strong speaking of Spotify.
Honestly, I feel she is kind of replacing Billie (particularly with the lukewarm reception of her last few releases) as the new "it" girl.

She is definitely the new it girl. That leaves plenty of room for Billie to do her thing (I think her recent lukewarm reception is mostly due to the material itself, the public's interest is still there... for now).
Some of these ladies just make some dumb mistakes like when Lorde took forever to release a followup album or now Billie and Alessia before her basically giving us a remake of their previous projects but more boring.

I think the days of the IT girl are fading or becoming less extensive, imo. Our last true IT girl was Ariana. I feel like the new girls are here today and not quite gone tomorrow but roaming the halls if that makes sense.
Listening to this less but I may have burned out with how much I played it release week. Still a fantastic album and I’ll definitely be returning to things like Traitor. Excited Moreno for her musical output as I still don’t know her/don’t think she’s formed a strong personality for herself yet

I think Billie was definitely the it girl for a while. It's just that her singles campaign was all over the place aside from "bad guy". Get Billie on the same tireless work schedule Dua Lipa has been rocking since "Don't Start Now" dropped and she might have still been the "it" girl.
Album campaigns are shorter and shorter these days which doesn't help sustain the public's interest for long spans. The days of Katy Perry milking Teenage Dream all the way into superstardom are done.
Don't wanna get too specific though, this subject has the potential of going into "main pop girl" territory and I still have nightmares from those topics.

No offense to Billie but I always saw her a flash in the pan, one smash album type of artist.
Olivia gives me major superstar vibes and I think she’ll be here for a while!

Wondering how her sustainability on Spotify will affect future singles and their performance. Like, will a song that has already been charting top 10 on Spotify for months be a bit too familiar to experience the typical growth needed to gain a high chart placement? Though she is already 3 singles deep so I doubt it matters much how well the last one to two singles perform. lol

Hell, brutal is charting on alt and traitor on pop so it seems like we're going to get all of the album's singles at once lol.

The new album era is much like Ariana’s releases. I miss the days of Breakaway and Teenage Dream where we got 5 singles.

I think I think too much.. about jealousy, jealousy but her longevity on Spotify is exactly why it should be next: traitor, brutal and favorite crime have a lot of streams and are probably well known to too many people for them to do anything in a few months from now and from the remaining tracks well #9 is the most logical choice because of diversity reasons especially if traitor indeed does a little damage on Pop
