I really like this! It's very Katy Perry: catchy, upbeat self-empowerment anthem. I love how she's still serving us pure pop bops.
Also, the video is very cute and the younger actress looks so much like a young Katy! (obviously lol)

Between the producers/writers and the song itself, this is an obvious outtake from the Smile recording sessions and would easily fit on that album.

Probably true! Artists do usually take scrapped tracks and repurpose them for these types of projects. And between this and the Post song being a very simple cover I think most acts aren't treating this as a major project lol.

This isn't on Today's Top Hits and there's still no word if this is being sent to radio, so who knows how much this Pokemon album is actually being pushed mainstream. I'd hope they'll push this more but I guess we'll see. I'm just happy for new Katy music. I'll always welcome that :) |

Yeah, this one is definitely an old throw away. It's fine. Video is cute. Wish they could have done SOMETHING after the bridge. Some more layered vocals or adlibs. It's just the same chorus looped over again.

Not on Spotify Today's top hits. Why would it be? It's not a hit by any means, yet. New releases hit TTH all the time. "good 4 u" was added today, for example, and it also released today. One would hope a new single from Katy Perry could land even a low position on TTH upon release, but that didn't happen, which indicates one of two things: Katy has completely lost all streaming prowess on Spotify or whoever is in charge of promoting this soundtrack thing isn't eyeing for big hits to sell the album. (Personally I believe it's probably a bit of both.) It is #3 on Pop Rising, though, and if it does well enough there, I could see it being added to different countries' Hot Hits and maybe eventually TTH. But without a strong backing from whoever is promoting this album, it probably won't. |

I doubt Spotify has completely given up on Katy since NRO chilled in the Top 10 on Spotify during its debut week. Granted, there has been diminished returns since then but I place the blame on Capitol having no clue how to promote Katy in the streaming era. I have no clue what the promotional intentions are for the Pokémon album but one would think they’d want to push at least one song to radio. Also, I wonder if the rumors of another Katy single coming after “Electric” is true. Ironically, Twitter rumors seem to be right at least half the time lol. |

After multiple listens (and smoking a joint), this is another bullseye for her. I know she’s over, a flop, etc., but she still remains releasing quality. Ever since 365 she has delivered bop after bop, and Electric is no exception. The video is super cute too. Much better than the atrocious NTEOTW video. This is much better.
