it's imperative that 34 + 35 leaves the hot 100 very soon after that #2 leap so it can secure a spot at #69 on the y/e

Stream everything but Ari. But that means I have to stream "Bang!" Sometimes we need to sacrifice our personal comfort for the greater good

"Streets" from Doja Cat's 2019 album is #6 on AM and #10 on Spotify today. I'm taking a wild guess and saying tiktok is behind this, interested to see if it becomes a true sleeper hit

I'm hearing rumblings that - following the Super Bowl Half Time show - Blinding Lights might be able to overtake Olivia in her 5th week.
If that happens, the song returning to #1 in one chart run after 41 weeks would be extraordinary.

It's definitely gonna be the biggest charting hit of all-time, it doesn't look to be leaving the Hot 100 anytime soon

Guess we're giving "The Git Up" guy another hit. I don't think anyone was expecting that.
Fantastic gains for "What You Know Bout Love", "hole in the bottle", and of course, "drivers license". I predict pretty strong callouts for it, and it should definitely help with its longevity once its streaming momentum weakens.

from the song thread: also it's on track to become Doja's third Top 40 hit on the Hot 100 as a lead (second solo, after "Say So"): 3rd? What's her 2nd then? "motive", her feature with Ariana Grande that charted during the "positions" album bomb week. "Like That" and "Juicy" failed to crack the top 40. Edit: wait, the third one should probably be "Best Friend", since Doja isn't credited as a lead for "motive".

I predict pretty strong callouts for it, and it should definitely help with its longevity once its streaming momentum weakens. It's #7 on country radio (excluding ISPGTB, which has peaked) and rather low on the Hot 100 right now, so I don't expect it to have the staying power to make the YE, and thank goodness for that. The gains for HITB caught me off guard, too. At this rate, it might outpeak Peter Pan.

It will be interesting to see where the newer songs appear.

"Streets" will be her second as a lead, then!

I love "Blinding Lights" and it's run is amazing. But it becoming the best performing Hot 100 song of all time is proof that the all-time charts favors recent, streaming fueled songs.
Also, might just be me, (and COVID-related restrictions and stay at home orders can also affect this), but I don't think the song was ever as ubiquitous as "Despacito", "Shape of You" or "Uptown Funk".
Nothing wrong with it, BL has the stats to back up the all-time ranking. It's just a bit weird that it could end up as the best performing song of the Hot 100's history.

I always wondered what if Uptown Funk had been released in November 2019, instead of November 2014. My guess is that it would have 30+ weeks at #1 on radio/Hot 100, and would have already been #1 all time. The competition was intense in 2015, compared to now.

It's just as much radio fueled as it is streaming fueled. To me, the "streaming fueled" hits are the ones that debut at #1 and fall off the charts in a matter of weeks.
