Save Your Tears is decent but it does kinda feel like The Weeknd heard Circles once and was like "yeah, let's do that but make it 80s"

I don't understand how you guys think they sound similar lol, could y'all reason this one for me cause I think I'm being slow I'm not trained in music theory, so I couldn't say exactly why they sound so similar, but here's a mashup of the two songs that may highlight some similarities.

Taking a quick look at the Wikipedia entries for both songs, they are both written in the key of C major. Circles has a tempo of 120 of beats per minute, while Save Your Tears 118.

Speaking of Save Your Tears, what was the last time a popular pop song had two verses before the first chorus? The only song I can think of is Somebody That I Used To Know

You could say the first part is 2 verses.

The title suits well, she's literally tricking her fans into streaming the same tracks for the 10000th time. Even BTS look like saints in front of these stan baits π¬π

she's literally tricking her fans into buying the same tracks for the 100th time No she's not. It's a streaming only EP so there isn't any purchasing involved, and she's not the first artist to do this. Justin Bieber, Sam Smith, Bea Miller, and the Jonas Brothers all have EPs like this on their streaming pages as well, and there's probably more than that. All it is is the label putting out these little playlist EPs because it helps boost streaming to those specific songs for a short period of time with basically no cost to the label. Nobody is tricked into anything, fans are going to recognize it's all previously released material before hitting play, all it does is give a little renewed interest in a few songs to bring in a few more streams, which isn't any different than getting playlisted. There isn't any con here.

Shawn is threatening to release Teach Me How to Love as a single... I don't think that's a threat - it's a pretty catchy tune and I can see it being the saving grace for this era. ...but turning it into a duet with Canola No, please no π

Not you comparing kings of website sales to Taylor- Fans already know that these chapters include the songs only off folklore and evermore, and I think 'locals' already learned it too since it's not the first chapter she released in this era. No one is going to check this out thinking it's a completely new project. Besides, Taylor chooses the songs herself and they really fit thematically - every single compilation like this feels complete. If she really cared about the current performance of this album, she would promote the shit out of it in other ways than that (though she doesn't really need promotion at this point but that's another matter).

I honestly think Streets will be Top 20 this week, probably firmly planted at #20.
Label needs to act fast cuz with Drake gone the only competition for #1 is drivers license and The Weeknd during the Super Bowl week, Doja could really get another #1 single now. If she waits too long Adele or somebody will drop something and kill off all it's chances.

That's actually right lol I actually just thought of two more recent hits had a similar structure. bad guy has two verses before every chorus, and Shallow had Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga each deliver a verse before the chorus I honestly think Streets will be Top 20 this week, probably firmly planted at #20. Label needs to act fast cuz with Drake gone the only competition for #1 is drivers license and The Weeknd during the Super Bowl week, Doja could really get another #1 single now. If she waits too long Adele or somebody will drop something and kill off all it's chances. I think any tactic they do now would be mute, regardless of Drake being gone and The Weeknd's performance. drivers license might be losing streams but it's still number one on streaming by a large margin and with radio rapidly increasing, it's got longevity on top as well. I do agree success-wise, it's best if they send it to radio and have a music video for it (though considering Doja was planning a new era, they might've not been planning to shoot one and so they might release a music video until it's far too late to do anything) but for now, Save Your Tears and Blinding Lights are bigger threats at knocking drivers license off than Streets
