Stats for #8:
The first song to exit this evening reached its highest position of the rankdown from the outset as it started out in the top 5. It quickly settled to the back of the top 10 though as the first of five bottom 2 rankings rolled in. One participant will lose a top 2 ranking while one other loses their last place.

Godspeed should be the first single out. Right you are! Released as the albums fourth single in May of 2003, "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" becomes the first single of the album to exit. This started out at its highest position from the outset as it picked up the first of what would be nine top 5 rankings including a top 2 from taylor . The rankings for this were a bit mixed overall though as the majority of the group placed this somewhere within their top 10. Five others found the heart (or lack thereof) to putt his down in their bottom 2 including a last place from bboat11 . Written by Radney Foster, he first released this as a single in 1999 from his third studio album See What You Want to See.

Stats for #7:
The next song to exit also reached its highest position of the rankdown early on as it managed to briefly sneak into the top 5. It slowly began to fall back as the rankdown progressed though and almost dipped outside of the top 10 a couple of times. There was quite a bit of support however for this as it picked up nine top 5 rankings including a top 2. Only three participants put this in their bottom 2 which does include a lone last place.

The title track to the album departs next which likely comes as a bit of surprise to most in that it actually made it as far as it did. That was thanks in part to the nine top 5 rankings it received which included a top 2 from Cody Wants Out.... The majority of the group actually didn't even put this down in their bottom 4 as nine other rankings were spread out in the top 8. Only three participants put this down in their bottom 2 which did garner a last place from ccarter1023. As you can see from the trajectory, this had pretty much settled comfortably in at #8 before moving up one spot at the last moment thanks to a final top 5 from d3vin44.

Stats for #6:
The final song to be revealed this evening also happens to be our most polarizing. While the rankings for this were quite spread out, the majority of the group did actually put this in their top 5. Not everyone was in agreement though as five participants put this down in their bottom 2 which included FOUR in last place! Unfortunately, two participants become the first to have to say goodbye to their #1 song.

"White Trash Wedding" is AMAZING and deserved top 5, but I guess I should just be glad y'all let it come this far. I was worried it would wind up lower, but thankfully that was not the case.

Missing the top 5 by only six points, the fan favorite “White Trash Wedding” departs next and along with it takes a #1 ranking from .indulgecountry and bat1990. They also happen to be the first two of the rankdown to lose their top-ranked song (sorry y'all!). This ended up coming in as our most polarizing song which is due in part mostly to the five bottom 2 rankings it racked up with four of those being in last place. The one saving grace for fans of this song is that it did garner 11 top 5 rankings overall which is the most of any song thus far.

"White Trash Wedding" not making the top 5 is a TRAVESTY!!!!!! It's such a jam, the lyrics slay, and the instrumentation is absolutely incredible. A masterpiece.
"The baby's on its way... say 'I do' and kiss me quick, cuz the baby's on its way" is ICONIC and my fav part of the song!!

I don't normally care for the wilder DCX songs like White Trash Wedding, but this one is definitely an exception. Tortured Tangled Hearts might be another example too that I like more than the ones from Fly (like Sin Wagon), but not as much as this. #6 is apt!
Truth No 4 will be out next but it should be Landslide.

"Godspeed" hit my heart, and I think it deserved better. Meanwhile, I don't know what I'm not hearing but "White Trash Wedding" outlasting gems like "Tortured, Tangled Hearts" confuses me.

This rankdown has been a hot mess in some ways, but we're left with just about the expected top 5. My big complaints involve the tanking of "Tortured Tangled Hearts" and "White Trash Wedding", as those are both among my favorite album tracks of their entire career. WTW has a ton of personality that helps it to be a cornerstone of this album. This is everything that Faith Hill's "Dearly Beloved" tried to pull off a couple years later, and while that song also slays, this one is obviously the OG! At least it nearly made the top 5! Meanwhile, TTH may not have quite as much personality, but it has one of the top 5 catchiest chorus melodies of their entire career. I'm just thankful that it at least did well enough to make the album tracks rankdown.
"Lil' Jack Slade" is the obvious last place because instrumental, but it sure is a masterpiece! Y'all really like to show off how few of us actually know how to play any instruments or know anything about making music...
"More Love" and "I Believe In Love" are solid, but they are out in the correct place. They just fall victim to how strong this album is. I'd still rank them pretty well in the context of their whole career, but this whole album is A+ material! "Godspeed" should have been right there with them. That song is moving and pretty, but who tf thought it would make a good single??!!?! Oh well, at least its fans can thank single bias for it nearly making the top 5 here.

“Godspeed”’s becoming a single is owed entirely to the “incident”. “Truth No. 2” was all set to become the fourth single, but the label (and quite possibly the band) changed their mind because they didn’t think a song with the opening line “you don’t like the sound of the truth coming from my mouth” would be the best move after what had just happened. They ended up settling on “Godspeed” (which I love, but not quite as much today as I did back then) as something that was not in your face at all. I agree that it did not make for a great single, but I don’t think that radio would have played any of the other tracks more than they played “Godspeed”, unfortunately.

Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) is destinied a flop single even that did not happen. It sounds too subdued for country radio anyway, but it's still touching. A Home I think I have heard this theme sometimes. The chorus is more memorable than Godspeed at least lol In hindsight White Trash Wedding sounds like a more polarizing one. There are often fast bluegrass song which made not much sense other than being instrumental showoff, but this one depicts the chaotic story nicely, and what LBTrocks says about the lyrics (potented by instrumentals) They should be higher than some of remaining singles tbh.

I've been waiting to share my opinion about "A Home." The instrumentals and verses are GORGEOUS and HAUNTING but then there's such an abrupt shift at the chorus that it ruins the song for me somewhat. It goes from being a melancholy ballad where you can picture standing alone under the stars on the prairie contemplating life and what home means. Then suddenly it shifts to this weird wall of sound with generic country harmony chords in the vocals and a time signature shift that makes it sound like a basic open mic entry. Who approved this nonsense????? "Lil' Jack Slade" is the obvious last place because instrumental, but it sure is a masterpiece! Y'all really like to show off how few of us actually know how to play any instruments or know anything about making music... THIS SO MUCH TASTE WINS THE DAY!!! We buoyed this up to the top 6!!

I return as promised this evening to dive into the Top 5 and work our way down to crown the winner for Home! Before we get started, here are a few stats to look over as I ready the first reveal: - Two participants still have their last-place song remaining
- 30 points separate the first two songs while 34 points separate the #3 and #4 songs
- Only six points separate the top 2 songs
- The winning song was mostly only a top 2 contender while the song finishing at #2 spent much of its run at #1
- The top 2 songs are both the two least polarizing of the album

Stats for #5:
The first song to exit in the top 5 comes in as our fourth most polarizing. Despite picking up 13 top five rankings, this actually spent much of its run hovering just outside of that and only managed to sneak back in once the final lists rolled in. One participant will lose their #1 song while two others lose a bottom 2.

"Truth No. 2" is the first song to bow out of the top 5 and is also the first of the two songs written by Patty Griffin to exit. This comes in as our fourth most polarizing song as the rankings were quite varied. Thirteen participants lose a top 5 which includes a top 2 from Kanenrá:ke as well as a #1 ranking from born. While thirteen other participants did place this somewhere within their top 10, five of those still fell down in the bottom 4 overall. This did only accumulate a pair of bottom 2 rankings from taylor as well as a last place from bat1990 who coincidently previously lost their #1 song with the previous reveal yesterday evening.

Stats for #4:
Our next song is the first to exit that was our initial #1 contender. While it never was able to regain that position, this was nonetheless a strong top 4 competitor which is thanks in part to the 17 top 5 rankings it garnered which is the most of any song thus far. Of those top 5 rankings, five of those are #1 rankings! Despite that, this still comes in as our second most polarizing song which is mostly due to it receiving five bottom 4 rankings of which one is in the bottom 2.

Despite being our initial #1 contender, “Top of the World” exits before the top 3. It remained a competitive top 3 contender for much of its early run before sliding back some during the last half. This accumulated 17 top 5 rankings overall which is the most of any song thus far. Of those, five participants put this as their top-ranked song including ClevelandRox, Kanenrá:ke, jenglisbe, Baby Spice, and Devil Marlena Nylund. I mentioned that this was our second most polarizing song which is due in part to the five bottom 4 rankings it received including a lone bottom 2 from austin.
