Let's see how much impact this will have BTS will top the daily and weekly South Korea chart and they'll gain millions of more global streams as a result. Other K-pop groups and singers should also benefit.

I don't think they are suddenly going to listen to more music, they'll just switch platforms

They should gain a couple million more daily global streams at the very least.

You know, I was thinking about this last week after I saw Yoru ni Kakeru in the top 10 in the Global 200 excl. US and was wondering how a song can be that high and only popular in one country but to answer your question, I don't see it, not yet at least.

What western artists could profit the most from Korea‘s Spotify launch? I know Ariana is really huge there. she was the only western artist (#10) in the top 40 of their YouTube weekly chart (22-28. Jan): South Korea YouTube

Just a friendly reminder that the Global 200 is the best thing that Billboard did in recent memory but it's a shame that they want to be cheap and try and make people pay for it.

I would actually argue that the Global 200 excl. US is even better. The Hot 100 seems to have too much weight on the Global 200 which explains, for example, several Country songs that are charting in both the Hot 100 and Global 200 but nowhere else. Songs like those don't even appear in the Global 200 excl. US.

Well for Global 200, they do not give any specific country a certain “weight” or influence. It is raw worldwide figures. US is by far the largest music market in terms of consumption and sales, so even the most local artists in US can do well on a global consumption chart if they’re doing moderate enough in just US. I imagine if China & India one day start using official globally recognized streaming services and the majority of their population gets access to high speed internet then music from those countries will chart high regardless of whether they get any recognition outside since their populations are in billions.

You can say the same in the Excl. US, like I said before, Yoru ni Kakeru is in the top 10 there despite it only being popular in Japan. I would argue that the Global 200 with the US is a more reflection of what's popular in the world.

I think the only slight downfall to compiling Global raw numbers is that the biggest countries/markets will always be overrepresented and focused moreso. A country with 300 million people will likely pull higher numbers for music than 30 countries that have populations of less than 10 million.
Instead of making a second chart with just excluding one specific country, I think Billboard should have instead did a second chart where each country is sort of neutralized as far as population/market size. Then we’d get a global chart in the sense of which songs purely have crossed over into the most markets.
A raw chart and a weighed chart.

Should Blinding Lights or Save Your Tears dominate the charts post-Super Bowl , Abel will have the #1 song during his birth week, and reach #1 a day before his birthday. (got it wrong by a day the first time 🙏🏽)

Lil Baby's On Me reached a new peak on Spotify at #28! And cause this reflects a Sunday update, tomorrow should be even higher.
Should reflect on the Hot 100. Would be nice to see him getting more Hot 100 chart success in 2021 after already conquering the BB200 last year (also #9 +2 this week) and getting a few cute Top 10s last year ("For the Night", "We Paid", "The Bigger Picture") and various charting remixes.
And this is solo too which is always a plus. #13 Youtube #7 Apple Music (behind two album track Durk songs) #452 (+18) iTunes

I'm actually scared that CMBYN might suffer the same fate of Holiday. I hooe not, based on the clip he posted before, it's a good song. Looks like he sticking with the Holiday theme....Valentine's.

Let's see how much impact this will have From what I know here in Korea, it will have some traction at the beginning due to being a new trend (as Koreans love new trends), as well as some here have wanted Spotify for some time, but I don't ever see it being huge cause of "Melon". "Melon" is the Spotify of Korea and the main streaming service here. Much like how many citizens here want to buy and own Samsung products over Apple because Samsung is Korean, they'll most likely stick to "Melon" streaming since they will want to support a Korean service more.

Four new Ariana tracks coming this month, I assume she'll drop a video and push one to radio, so a potential #1 there.
