Night Shift is another jam. Was surprised that he ended up releasing it as the fifth single, but was happy that it ended up becoming a hit, even though he was lacking a momentum at the time of the release.

As you can likely tell, this Top 3 is HIGHLY agreed upon! All but two people, out of 20 participants, put "Heartache" inside their Top 6! In fact...this Top 3 is only separated by a total of FIVE POINTS!!!!  |

The "Where she at, where she at, where she at, where she at tonight" part is annoying af, but otherwise "Heartache" is so catchy and fun to listen to! I find myself never getting tired of this one, and it was a lot of fun to revisit it here! Glad it was able to survive this long!

Heartache on the Dance Floor is great. Wish it made it to the top 2 with Head Over Boots.
She Ain't In It is not bad, but overstaying at this point.

I'll take my perfect ranks for the top 3!! "She Ain't In It" is so good, but overall I just find "Head Over Boots" holds up to repeat listens a lot better. Which is ironic considering the fact that it was so overplayed back in the day that I couldn't wait to never hear it again  But if "She Ain't In It" had been overplayed to the extent of "Head Over Boots", I would have literally never been able to listen to it again, whereas HOB I'm already starting to warm back up to after just a few years! SAII is more of a "when the time is right" sort of song for me. |

Well, would you look at that end result!!! As I said, it was an incredibly competitive and equally bloodthirsty Top 3, and this Top 2 proves that in spades! Despite SIX #1 rankings for "She Ain't In It," that somehow wasn't enough to outsmart "Head Over Boots," which snuck THREE POINTS ahead to claim the crown of this rankdown! I love photo finishes like this, especially when the runner-up has more #1s--and in some cases, like this one, the most #1s overall!!! Makes things more fun and interesting, lol.

Head Over Boots is just so iconic and the melody is just so addictive.
She Ain't In It is alright, but the most underwhelming single from this era tbh.

taylor, great rankdown! Solid album, solid top 6. While Head Over Boots is definitely more of my go to over She Aint In It, I do think SAII is artistically a great song. I do have to be in the mood for it. Looking forward to Heartache Medication!

Just an absolutely amazing top 3. All 3 made my top 10 for the entire decade, so really happy they ended up 1-2-3 here. "Head Over Boots" is such an iconic jam with an all-time great chorus melody. I wouldn't have been upset with any of the three winning, but "Head Over Boots" feels correct.

"Dirt On My Boots" remains my fav Jon Pardi song, it's just such a jam and has a killer melody! This one is so fun to crank up and sing to "She Ain't In It" is EXCELLENT too, and I really wish it had won here, even tho I do love "Head Over Boots" too. Thanks for hosting taylor!! |

Cowboy Hat is just country version of T-shirt (Thomas Rhett) thematically.
Surprised Night Shift is this divisive. It's radio fodder and I thought it's either this or Cowboy Hat as final single.
Dirt on My Boots is Jon trying hick hop, especially during verses. The vocal runs there still sound awkward to me.
Great top 3 and to me these define him as an artist. She Ain't In It is an excellent traditional country ballad that isn't boring because of these tasteful fiddle and steel guitar solos. Head Over Boots is a fun cute song that is a fresh air at that time. Heartache on the Dance Floor hasa great blend of pop (disco?) verses and country chorus.
Bring on the Heartache Medication rankdown! This album should have been even more popular than California Sunrise but eh.

Heartache Medication (2019) After what turned out to be a pretty hectic spring/majority of summer for me, I’m finally ready for us to dive into Jon’s third studio album, Heartache Medication!
