Where. Are. The. Drake. Numbers. Don't we also care what Bruno/Anderson .Paak, Justin, Maroon 5/Megan do on Spotify? I know I do.

Spotify has been random with its updates lately, and with several new big entries, I wouldn't expect anything early lol.

I wonder if releasing 4 or more singles before an album (like Bieber/Republic are doing) will become the new norm in the post-bundles era.

I wonder if releasing 4 or more singles before an album (like Bieber/Republic are doing) will become the new norm in the post-bundles era. Pretty standard for Pop artists desperate to get a hit going into album release. Katy's last album (Never Really Over, Harleys In Hawaii, Daisies, Smile) Sam's last album (Dancing with a Stranger, How Do You Sleep, I'm Ready, Diamonds) Halsey's last album (Without Me, Nightmare, You Should Be Sad, Graveyard) Maroon 5's upcoming album (Memories, Nobody's Love, Beautiful Mistakes, Lifestyle) The first example for all of them was actually a big enough hit to launch an album with, but I guess their albums weren't anywhere near finished yet which is the common issue. They always release/get the biggest hit with the album nowhere in sight yet.

Bruno/Anderson .Paak are now #1 on iTunes and #7 on Apple Music. Justin Bieber is up to #19 on Apple Music. That's more like it. 7/8 hours later:Looks like What's Next/Wants and Needs will be trading places at #1 on Apple Music throughout the tracking week. Their streams being that close makes me think both songs could potentially debut in the top 5. What's Next debuted at #1, 14 hours later, it got replaced by Wants and Needs at #1 for like an hour. What's Next went back to #1 for like 16 hours and now Wants and Needs is back to #1 again. Drake still holds the top 3 spots. Meanwhile, Leave the Door Open is down to #8 on AM after peaking at #7 earlier. I hope it rises back up in the next update. Hold On is down to #22 after peaking at #19. I hope it rises again as well.

So many talented artists are signed to TDE. They had a great run from 2015 to 2018 where Kendrick dropped 3/4 projects, Schoolboy dropped Blank Face, SZA dropped Control, Jay Rock dropped 2 projects, and it was the last time Isaiah Rashad dropped anything. It really feels like they squandered these past couple of years with bad promotion and management. well TDE is more independent company and it feels like they've been working on some of their smaller artists first. The real label for SZA is RCA

one thing keeping Go Crazy at #1 on overall radio is it is charting at 8 formats according to kworb.not sure if that is a record since most songs seem not to get past 6 formats.Mood is at 7 formats and i am not sure if Blinding Lights got past 6. kworb.net/radio/ Billboard Radio Songs Estimates | 2021/03/06 | Archives For radio charts by format, visit All Access. I still think Bieber's rollout is quite strategic. Pop artists are very vulnerable right now.
The way things are going, pop might get eclipsed by both hip-hop and new wave country in this decade.

I wonder if releasing 4 or more singles before an album (like Bieber/Republic are doing) will become the new norm in the post-bundles era. It has been the normal, particularly for lesser known artists and newcomers. For them, I donβt think itβs as much to get a big hit out of them as much as it is to get the tracks/singles out there to generate wider interest in the album before it drops.

Say what you want about Justin Bieber and his team's strategies but pop music is in a downturn worldwide and it has been for quite a while. Gotta do what you need to do to still be a big name. It's funny that he is still very much relevant with the quality of his musical output considering his contemporaries cannot.

I can't say I mind the strategy, considering how hard it is to score a hit single following the release of an album. Releasing multiple singles before releasing an album, if done right, ensures you have some hits attached to the album and maintains and maybe even increases hype and interest going into the release of the album. Those are both wins to me.
Justin releasing his album after only 1 single wouldn't have made any sense.

Definitely not a bad strategy.

That's a 21.2 million increase from yesterday, by the way.

The main reason I'm not sure about Bieber's strategy is that the singes seem like they're getting diminishing returns. Holy was a hit, Lonely did okay, Anyone is doing ehh, IDK about Hold On. Hopefully this one does well.

Hopefully this one does well. I think thatβs always going to be the case regardless, and often has been. In most cases, the first two singles will be the biggest ones because they rely more on hype and general excitement whereas the ones after donβt have that, so Iβd say itβs to be expected.

The biggest problem with Bieber's "strategy" is that the singles are lazy. He is not even trying as an artist and the popheads stopped caring after the "I released and r&b album why I'm nominated for Grammys in pop category" fiasco. Like bitch you are nominated, deal with it.

Well I disagree, I think all the songs have a positive theme and music videos that accompany have a good message, and the songs are WAYY better than changes. I do think he still flop though because itβs just too many singles. He needs a year break

That page just says stuff. Bieber is barely top 20 on Apple Music, has minimal sales, and 0 airplay. No idea how they logically drew a top 10 debut from that, especially with 4 other new releases doing higher numbers.

I wouldn't buy into anything this account says. The person who runs it tends to exaggerate numbers for engagement. I'll rather take what Talk of the Charts says into consideration. Their projections are a lot more informed, reasonable and accurate.
