🌺CountryLineDancer I just read your take on Upchuch and I'm low-key not here for this Upchurch shade 😂 definitely look up the songs I mentioned! I also knew of his YouTube channel and his subscriber count but regardless I'm not surprised he has that many subscribers, given his personality and his rather large following from the music he's released. He's not popular with the mainstream crowd, but that is pretty much his choice at this point.... he turned Scott Borchetta down, who wanted to offer him a record deal... Just checked those songs, and they are not bad. I only checked his other songs from "Everlasting Country" and Hey Boy Hey Girl, and my take was based on that. I still like Everlasting Country the most, but quite impressed with his rock vibe instrumental production!

#16 Emily Reid - California King
Total: 115 Average: 12.78 Std Dev: 5.72 Team: Canada
Chart Performance: NA LBTrocks - 20Emily Reid is the first female to leave, and bboat11 loses his #2. She is from a beautiful capital of BC, Victoria, and currently in Nashville. Writer of She's Just Not That Into You by Kalie Shorr and Boys by Dean Brody & Mickey Guyton. CLD's ThoughtI like many of Emily's material, and this one is not bad as well. But the auto-tuned kinda vocal at the chorus is a bit unfortunate. Her radio hit and my favorite "Good Time Being A Woman" is coming up in 2019 Canada RD. Next up, #15 is the last song without top 3 rankers. Edit: Since I've done a quarter of the reveal, I'll continue on Sat. (Busy tmrw)

California King was not an officially a single, and Wine was. I definitely enjoy Wine more, but I kinda felt like there would be tankers, so I picked CK over Wine.

But also when did Grady Smith say Koe Wetzel was hot?? This is some tea lol 14:50 ish *jumps to 14:50 mark* Grady: Wetzel is overweight but still looks ripped while shirtless *inserts this image in vid to prove point* I was like.... I was certain Grady Smith was straight, and this whole thing definitely proved that. Also I'm extra dead @ the fact that all of this was still totally irrelevant to my original statement that I personally think Upchurch is hot

Back to the songs:
Everlasting Country: This is actually not too bad, but I am tired of those grudge towards city folks from "country" people themes.
As If We Won't: Black people making mediocre country muaic is still mediocre.
Short Lived Love: I have heard of Brad Cox's name before because I read he is really popular in Australia, and feels like he is Aus Luke Combs in many ways, but listening to this song.is underwhelming. The chorus is so cheesy pop.
Highway Number One: Why do I think of The Highway countdown? Not really like his vocals but instruments are decent.
California King: This is too low. Thought it would be higher because I thought Pulse like this kind of female vocals.

“California King” is a terrible song IMO and Emily Reid’s voice was extremely grating to my ears.

But actually, I checked out her song "Wine" that 🌺CountryLineDancer was thinking about putting in this RD instead and that is actually a pretty catchy song, and her voice doesn't bother me on it! So really, it's probably just that "California Bed" is an atrocious song with a horrendous vocal arrangement that made me think I hated her voice when really I don't lol. RIP to your #2, but also good riddance. I actually think "Wine" would have fared much better in this RD than CB did tbh. Sounds like a song Pulse would enjoy a lot more.

Noted, Wine will be in 2019 Canada Country Year-End RD Being relatively new here, still trying to figure out what songs would fit the taste of Pulse regulars, so feedback is awesome. Also, it's CK! Looks like there's a confusion with Rihanna's song

I wasn't a fan of "California King" either. She was definitely the odd woman out for me as all the others made my top 10 iirc.

#15 Tebey, Marie Mai - The Good Ones
Total: 108 Average: 12 Std Dev: 3.20 (3rd lowest) Team: Canada
Chart Performance: #8 in BB Canada Country Chart tim - 7 HeyHeyHey - 8 castleoblivion26 - 10 .indulgecountry - 11 recordyear - 13 🌺CountryLineDancer - 13 LBTrocks - 15 Kris Kringle - 15bboat11 - 16 This is the last song without top 3 rankers. Tebey Ottoh is another hit maker in Canada, and many of his songs are R&B influenced. This is one of the exceptions, a beautiful duet with Québécois pop singer Marie Mai. He has worked with pop singers, such as One Direction or Cher. He co-wrote Somebody Else Will by Justin Moore.
CLD's Thought This song is not so unique, but his duet concert performance with Kristin Carter (Double Take girl, if you recall from 2020 RD) was stunning. His other songs are coming up in Canada Country RD, but I don't see them performing well in Pulse, considering this result. (my guess was that this would do better than his other R&B-ish songs).

#14 Orville Peck - Summertime
Total: 103 Average: 11.44 Std Dev: 6.84 (3rd Highest!) Team: Canada
Chart Performance: NA As I expected, this was polarizing! 3 participants lose top 3, while 3 other lose bottom 3. As I mentioned in 2020 RD, Peck is definitely a unique figure in contemporary Canadian Country Music scene. He has a background as a drummer of a punk band. Peck identifies himself as gay. Even though I don't expect to find him on the mainstream radio, his popularity is definitely rising across the genre. CLD's ThoughtThis is definitely my favourite song by Peck. This one has the stronger chorus melody compared with his other materials, and the instrumental productions and his vocals are definitely one of his best. I love the music video as well. Also, mildly surprised that this was not tim 's #1. We have lost 4 Canadians already!! Next up is our first #1 loss!
Never mind again lol, I was looking at a wrong one.

Also, mildly surprised that this was not tim 's #1. It's a funny thing you should mention that because I was half-tempted to PM you and change my ranking for this as my #1! It was but just a couple of days after I submitted my list that I realized I just could not get this song out of my head, so that's when I decided to finally give him a closer listen. Before this I was only familiar with "Legends Never Die" and as I mentioned in the 2020 Canadian Country Rankdown I found myself really enjoying his material. I then ended up splurging on getting his first album and EP on vinyl lol.

#13 Randy Roger Band - You, Me and a Bottle
Total: 98 Average: 10.89 Std Dev: 7.49 (Highest!) Team: Texas
Chart Performance: #1 in Texas Regional Chart The most polarizing song of this RD and the first one to leave from Texas is Randy Rogers Band! Also, looks like bboat11 and LBTrocks were in agreement here, both finding this to be grating lol. CLD's ThoughtI really like Randy Rogers Band, and the instrumental production of this song is amazing. But the song is kinda flat, and I found the chorus to be weak. Definitely not their best work, but still willing to see Randy Rogers being back on the mainstream chart. I'll Never Get Over You was my fav from Hellbent album. Kiss Me In The Dark and One More Sad Song are 2 of my favs by these guys, and may include those in my future RD. Next up is the first #1 loss (yes I'm sure this time), but will be back in a few hours!

Oh good! That Orville Peck song flat-out sucked. I really want to like him because of who is and how he presents himself, but I feel like he can barely carry a tune most times. His duet with Shania is thus far the only thing I've been able to enjoy out of his discography, and I know if it were a solo song I probably wouldn't have felt the same. The Randy Rogers Band song also was no good. bboat11 is going to drag me again, but "The Good Ones" had an extremely grating melody lol. He ranked it even lower than you so prob not.

#12 Casey Donahew - Bad Guy
Total: 98 Average: 10.89 Std Dev: 6.82 Team: Canada
Chart Performance: #1 in Texas Regional Chart Tying with Randy Rogers with lower Std is another #1 Texas hit, Casey Donahew. Donahew is a regular hit maker in Texas, and his name often shows up in the small market radio charts as well. He also had a few singles in mainstream radio around 2016. This song was #19 contender for a little while. Kris Kringle becomes the first one to lose #1... CLD's ThoughtThis is disappointingly low. Definitely one of my favorite Texas Country songs from 2019, and Casey Donahew is my current favourite Texas male singer. One Light Town is a solid album, and aside from Bad Guy, songs like A Cowboys Prayer Promise Land or Wishful Drinking are also great. Quite surprised to see low rankings of recordyear and tim (especially tim liked my post when I posted this song in "Current Songs on Repeat" thread). C'mon, this one has great instrumental production and lyrics!! but this was also a grower, so the weak first impression was also kinda understandable.

#11 Laine Hardy - Tiny Town
Total: 94 Average: 10.44 Std Dev: 5.22 Team: US
Chart Performance: #25 in MusicRow Country Breakout The last song to miss our top 10 is Laine Hard, the winner of American Idol Season 17! This song was sent to small radio market, and became a little hit. CLD's ThoughtThis song has a nice acoustic production while the lyrics are kinda generic. I enjoyed his debut Flame much more. He has such a unique voice, and I'm excited to see whether he's going for this type of acoustic song, or southern rock style that he was doing in American Idol. As a fan of American Idol, I usually support the success of AI alumnus, so I hope we'll see him in mainstream sooner or later. At the same time, I would be also happy as long as he enjoys what he's doing and just casually releases songs to small market . Either way, he has build a loyal fanbase through the show, so it is interesting to see his future career.

If only XFER join this rankdown and boost Summertime... There are not many Orville Peck songs that I truly like but the atmosphere in Summertime is good. For an artist who wants to channel the great unknown of the west he is good at it.
I actually like the collaborative effort between Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen more than their individual works. You, Me and a Bottle is still a solid song though, especially within this list. But for some reason he sounds a bit breathless at points? Kiss Me In The Dark is included in a year-end rankdown already so you may consider that though.
Casey Donahew sounds like more flat Jon Pardi and takes some times to warm up to if you don't listen to him for some time, and Bad Guy is not a good song anyway due to the lyrics. I have heard the album mainly because two of songs from Jeff Hyde's solo album (Fiction and One Light Town) end up in it. In general though more artists should cut songs from yhat album because they are potential hits.
Looks like my #1 is safe for a while. There are so many my bottom 5 songs left that I hope they don't end up in top 5.
