Oh yeah, another #1. And so far this year they are all long lasting hits, we love to see that.

Iβm not sure if this has been discussed but there are currently 7 songs that hit #1 in the Top 10. Is this some sort of record?

I donβt know about a record, but I do know itβs a mistaken read for this week: Leave the Door Open (1) Montero (1) Peaches (1) Up (1) Drivers License (1) Save Your Tears (4) Levitating (5) Deja Vu (8) Blinding Lights (1) Astronaut in the Ocean (10) There are only 6 number ones in this weekβs top 10.

Was not expecting DWTD to debut above MHLN, though I get the feeling the former isn't gonna last nearly as long (more's the pity).

"Arcade" becomes the first Eurovision song to chart in the 21st century. Last one that crossed over the pond was Gina G's "Ooh Aah... Just A Little Bit," peaking at No. 12 in 1997 (represented the UK in 1996 and came in 8th).

One-week #1s with less than 5 weeks in the top 10 would be a better way to look at the βproblemβ So far this decade has seen 9 number ones spend fewer than 5 weeks in the top ten (not counting Peaches and Montero since they're so recent, and both look like they could/should pass 5 weeks). The 60s/70s/80s had quite a few but chart runs were significantly shorter then in general so it's not a fair comparison. I haven't checked the 00s/10s but outside of Idol singles I can't imagine there were too many. Since I like to procrastinate my responsibilities, I took it upon myself to compile a list of all of the ones in 2000-2019. Song (weeks in top ten) "Thank God I Found You" (4) "This Is the Night" (4) "I Believe" (2) "Inside Your Heaven" (4) "Do I Make You Proud" (2) "Crack A Bottle" (4) "HIGHEST IN THE ROOM" (4) "Heartless" (The Weeknd) (2) Only half of these were from American Idol. Honourable (or dishonourable, depending on how you view it) mentions to "Bootylicious" (6 weeks), "SOS" (6 weeks) "Hold It Against Me" (5 weeks), "This Is America" (5 weeks), and "SAD!" (6 weeks). I had no idea "Bootylicious" and "SOS" had such piss-poor longevity. Also, 2007 had quite a few short-lived number-ones, albeit none that left the top ten in as quickly as five weeks.

Probably no one cares, but BTS is the first act in history to chart songs on hot 100 in three different languages. That's a nice record to have.

That's super interesting β I'm a little surprised they're the absolute first, but I can't think of anyone else who could have possibly done it. Good for them!

That's super interesting β I'm a little surprised they're the absolute first, but I can't think of anyone else who could have possibly done it. Good for them! Going back to the 60's acts like Petula Clark and Connie Francis would record their songs in multiple languages, and would also record songs for specific markets, so it could have been theoretically possible for them to have songs in two non-English languages chart. And offhand, I know that both the Beatles (with the German version of "She Loves You") and the Captain and Tennille (with the Spanish version of "Love Will Keep Us Together") hit the Hot 100 with foreign-language versions of their number one records, so one more language and either could have done it! (I know this stuff goes back beyond the normal time period of discussion topics of this board but when I was a kid Hot 100 freak I was also interested in the charts and stats from before my time as well so I figure many people here would be the same way.)

Okay I believe you all right. I saw multiple chart accounts tweeting this and they always fact check before making a post. Still it's been really long time since it happen. Also it's a first japanese song since 1963 to chart on hot 100.

I'm surprised the article didn't mention (unless I missed it) that "Leave the Door Open" was #1 without being #1 in any of the three main components. I guess it has now become so common for that to happen.

Wonder if "Leave The Door Open" will be one of those songs that hangs around for a while...

^They did mention the positions of the components. Yeah, but they normally would comment on the fact that it wasn't #1 in any of the metrics. I think they always state the component breakdown for the #1 song, in any case.

Funny, I actually remember that happening with two consecutive #1's in 2010 ("California Gurls" and "Love the Way You Lie", both of which debuted at #2).
