If this ends at 6 weeks at #1 it will be the 15th song in the Airplay era to do so. Never thought a Dustin Lynch song would be this big of a hit but kudos to him and MacKenzie Porter.

Just listened to it for the first time a couple of days ago and this is a good song!

I hope Big Loud would try sending another solo single by MacKenzie Porter to the US radio, as her name has some momentum from this giant hit. I know another Canadian female Lindsay Ell flopped with i don't lovE you after hitting #1 with Brantley Gilbert, but I still think it's worth a shot; at least this song was a far bigger hit that the duet by Lindsay and Brantley. MacKenzie has not released any radio single in Canada since early 2021, so hopefully the next single in the Canadian radio will also be promoted in the US.
Edit: Just learned that Pickup is the next radio single in Canada by MacKenzie. Pretty radio friendly, but not sure if it will do much even if it gets promoted in the US. They could do it after they finish pushing it in Canada, like they did with These Days, but by then, no momentum from this successful duet would be alive.

Still standing at #3 Country Airplay for the week! Imo a #30 peak doesn't reflect the success of this song. Sure it took advantage of the Cristmas freeze, and it didnt exactly set the charts on fire, but it took a tall on its peak. Bad thing is that this one will also be caught between years on the country charts. They should've worked this one to the pop formats in the new year, after 6 weeks atop, but i guess the ship has sailed..

I thought it was interesting that when they played the song on the Hot 20 Countdown (CMT) this morning, they only played through the first chorus before cutting the song off... You don't even get to hear any part of Porter's additions to the song. They didn't do that for any other song on the show and I've never noticed them doing it before?
Especially with as much dead air they eat up talking and all their nonsense (that I fast-forward through), they could've played the song. Makes me think it was deliberate. The usual politics, either because Porter is on the wrong label or because she's a woman, something of that kind.

A practice that vh-1 did on their countdown show years ago.

MacKenzie Porters Pick Up was the most added on Canada-Country this week so itās obviously getting a push there. Wonder if theyāre going to capitalize on her hit here. Truthfully tho if I had to choose between her and Tenille Arts as the pop country Canadian female that breaks through here, I would choose Tenille as she has a much stronger voice and stage presence so thereās that. You know how limited female country spots are on the charts.

I'd say it is a good timing to push Pickup, but if they ever push, I could also see them pushing it in the US after it peaks in Canada, so maybe in 6 months, considering our shorter chart run. That's what they did with These Days, which flopped in the US unfortunately. I only saw MacKenzie live, but she does not have the strongest vocal, especially compared with Tenille. Still, MacKenzie is actually the more successful one in Canadian chart with multiple #1 hits, while Tenille has not scored any top 5 hits. In comparison with other female acts in Canada, I consider MacKenzie to be the "A Lister" with Lindsay Ell and Tenille Townes, while Tenille Arts is still "B Lister" with Jess Moskaluke, Madeline Merlo, and Meghan Patrick. I would be happy to see any Canadian females in the US chart (maybe not Robyn Ottolini), but you're definitely right that there are not so many spots for them...

Happy to see Lindsay Ell is an A lister up there!

The record has been broken now 3 times in the span of less than a year, after āAmazedā held it for 22 years. Just another example of radio keeping songs in major rotation much longer now than ever.

The fact that this song hit #1 back in December and is still in the Top 10 shows just how big of a hit this song was and imo with how radio has treated since hitting #1 it definitely deserved all 6 weeks at #1.

And Lonestarās āAmazedā is still the biggest hit on the Country Airplay chart despite all 3 songs breaking the record.

The example Iām about to share doesnāt necessarily fit this songās run, since it did spend six weeks at #1 (end of year/start of year), but this is basically the new milestone for labels ā to get songs to stay in top 10 rotation for as long as possible; knowing itās more than likely they wonāt get more than a week or two at #1. The way the game is now, labels schedule push weeks far in advance for number one. That creates the rotating door at number one, coupled with corporate programming. Most of the songs fade away from playlists but for some like āThinking āBout Youā, āIf I Didnāt Love Youā and āāTil You Canāt,ā they stay in heavy rotation because stations donāt want to cut down on spins for songs that are working for their company and listeners. They might not get 5-6 weeks at #1 anymore, but the longevity will still be there in recurrent play and as a gold title. Corporate radio relegates songs in the bottom half of the chart to overnight spins (especially newer artists) more than ever too, which contributes to these long chart runs and rotating number ones. Itās a vicious cycle that will be very hard to break out of.

Right now K102 has had Frank Ray consistently played since his song came out, whereas it took a while for it to get going on Billboard. And they've already added a new Mackenzie Porter song when no one else has yet.

Lauren Alaina's ex promotion team is so idiotic. Agreed. They shouldāve kept Lauren on this and not released GOH. This couldāve been the biggest hit of Laurenās career.

Sorry for bringing this thread back but this song wound up being the #1 song of the year for 2022 on Country Aircheck (I was convinced "Til You Can't" was gonna be #1 so I am shocked) making it the first time a female artist/vocalist got #1 on the Year End Country Aircheck with Mackenzie Porter's feature (technically 2 if you count "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not" by Thompson Square).
The success and longevity of this song is truly astonishing imo as it is still getting enough airplay on Billboard to rank in the Top 20 a full year after hitting #1. Sad Big Loud didn't try anything in the states for Mackenzie Porter, but I am still so happy for her this song turned into such a big hit (and will always give Lauren Alaina's team massive side eye for letting this go in favor of "Getting Over Him").
