My first shock of the rankdown... besides Pills not winning the whole thing. I thought this would make the top ten. :/

The first iconic song to leave us in this top 15 is "Stars Over Texas". This song was a super strong competitor! Almost nobody put it in their bottom 20, aside from Cody Wants Out... and gardyfan who were just baaaaaaarely in the bottom 20. Most people had it in the teens, although ClevelandRox and tim were the only ones who found room in their top 10, so it was really not ever a contender to do much better than this. Things were SO highly competitive in this region of the rankdown that my own #13 rank midway through the submission process was enough to push this song to the lowest position that it ever occupied ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif)

I'm happy with the top 15 of this rankdown. Sad to see "Stars Over Texas" be the first song out but I'm not surprised either. I don't think it belonged in the top 10 but do wish it had gotten ahead of "If The World Had A Front Porch" and "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" which I expect will be Top 10 but I hope they both miss. Love the songs but the others are much stronger imo.
Also I am surprised "Lessons Learned" has made it this high but am happy because that is such a great song, it is one I expect to be out before the top 10 though
I'd be surprised if "Used To The Pain" and "If I Don't Make It Back" both made it though they both deserve the top 10!
ETA: YAY! "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" missed the top 10 rightfully so. Love the song but the others are much stronger!

"Find Out Who Your Friends Are" is one of the best bops of his whole career. Sad it missed top 10. What a great comeback single that was. :'(

What a great comeback single that was. :'( I agree it was a great comeback single, what a moment that was when it came out and smashed the way it did. Glad it made it as high as it did because it deserves to be in the top tier of his career for sure (just not top 10 imo lol)

Sorry for the slight delay, I got distracted making predictions for Pam's album tracks! ![](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/popcorn.gif) "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" was Tracy's final #1 hit, which came as a bit of a surprise after he had seen a few years of waning success leading up to it. You could have ranked it w/ or w/o Tim and Kenny, imo it really doesn't matter. This is an awesome late-career smash, but I just don't feel like it is quite as amazing as his early years, so this feels like a perfect time for it to leave imo! And there is "Used To The Pain" next! This is the only Tracy Lawerence song to have previously won a rankdown, as it came out on top of sabre14 's Random Flops of 2004-2006 rankdown! That victory came as a HUGE shock to me, but it was very cool imo because this song SLAYS! The only thing wrong with it winning was that it came out ahead of "If I Don't Make It Back".... As you can see, that did not happen this time. How much longer can "If I Don't Make It Back" last though?? Should be fun to watch ;)

"Lessons Learned" brings us our second #1 loss, this time from 🌺CountryLineDancer :( Although he should be happy, because it sounds like it did way better than he was expecting!! "Lessons Learned" is one of Tracy's last huge hits, as after this one peaked at #3 he kicked off the 2000s with a string of softer hits broken only by "Paint Me A Birmingham" and "Find Out Who Your Friends Are". Despite being one of his "newer" classics though, this is still a classic! I'm glad to see it do this well! As you can see from the trajectory it was never a top 10 contender, but it was a very strong and consistent member of the top 20, that gradually climbed for the entire submission process from the #17/18 range until it finished at #12!

cannot complain about any of these missing the top 10 because it is what I was expecting. I have 8 of my top 10 still in and 2 non-top 10s left that I expected to see make it. Do wish "As Any Fool Can See" could have snuck in ahead of the overrated "If the World Was A Front Porch" but I'd even be shocked if that was #10 lol

The I See It Now album officially suffers its first loss as we say goodbye to "As Any Fool Can See" just outside of the top 10! It was the final album to remain fully intact. The album's three remaining singles "I See It Now", "Texas Tornado", and "If The World Had A Front Porch" were all top 2 hits just like AAFCS, and they all made the top 10 here.

This is a very strong top 10, so I’m not really sure what if anything I’d wanna see swapped out for the five songs that left before it. Of those, I really thought that “As Any Fool Can See” would make it into the top 10 as it still seems to be one of Tracy’s 90s hits that you can still hear on the radio today. It’ll be interesting to see by how many points it just missed the top ten altogether.
I’d say the only song in the top 10 that maybe came as a surprise to me is “Is That a Tear” as I didn’t really have my finger on y’all’s opinion of it. Looking back at the results for the 1997 Country Rankdown, though, I see y’all almost got that song into the top 15. I was already thinking that might be one of the first songs out in the top 10, but now I’m not so sure.
I have to think that the top 3 songs will come down to "Paint Me a Birmingham", "Sticks and Stones", and "Time Marches On". Outside of the that, I would imagine things got pretty competitive and close as we're talking about some of Tracy's biggest hits of his career. Trying to predict anything from #4 to #7 is a crapshoot lol, but I'll try and make a guess as to how this'll play out:
10. If I Don’t Make It Back 9. Can’t Break It to My Heart 8. Is That a Tear 7. If the World Had a Front Porch 6. I See It Now 5. Texas Tornado 4. Alibis 3. Sticks and Stones 2. Paint Me a Birmingham 1. Time Marches On

It's interesting that you've had that experience with the song, because I've always felt it was one of Tracy's most forgotten hits (even though it was long my favorite single of his). Part of that is because it was weirdly excluded from both of Tracy's major Greatest Hits packages (1998's The Best Of Tracy Lawrence and 2002's Then & Now: The Hits Collection, but I also haven't heard it on traditional radio in a long time. "Time Marches On" and "Texas Tornado" seemed to be the only mid-90 songs of his that got consistent play in my area over the years. I tried to keep my expectations in check for how well it would do here, but it's definitely disappointing to see it fall just short of the top 10, even if this top 10 is pretty unimpeachable.

Oh wow, I actually hadn't realized that "Any Fool Can See" was excluded from not one but two Greatest Hits compilations. It's always interesting when that happens as I know "Not Counting You" and "What She's Doing Now" by Garth have also been left off of hit compilations; same thing with "I Just Want to Dance With You" by George as that was the only song left off of his Latest Greatest Straitest Hits album. Anyways, part of it could be a regional thing where the song happens to receive some recurrent airplay in certain parts of the States whereas its excluded in others. Just based on anecdotal evidence down here in Austin, though, it's a song I still hear frequently enough on the radio for sure. In fact, radio down here still spins a lot of Tracy’s hits including “Texas Tornado” of course and others such as “Time Marches On”, “Paint Me a Birmingham”, and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” coming to mind.

Kicking off our top 10, we say goodbye to yet another #1 hit from the Alibis album, "Can't Break It To My Heart". I mentioned that the four songs that kick off our top 10 are tied with each other....... This one came out on the bottom of that 4-way tie because the highest rank was only a #5!
This one was a top 10 contender for the entire rankdown! Half of us put it in our top 10s, while everyone else had it in or near their top 20. This top 10 was so competitive though that even those impressive stats weren't enough to save it from leaving first!!

Dang, hard to watch a great song like "Can't Break It To My Heart" get kicked back to the bottom of the top 10 at the last minute! My top five songs were pretty much set going into this, but I just wasn't quite sure where this one in particular would fall because it has always been a favorite of mine.

"I See It Now" had a similar distribution to "Can't Break It To My Heart", in the sense that everybody put it in their top 20!!! Except for gardyfan ... Although his #28 rank still wasn't very low, and this song's high ranks being slightly higher than CBITMH allowed it to stay competitive and finish with the same total... Still, the highest rank was only a #3, which is why it is the second song to leave in our 4-way tie!
