"Alibis" is another one of his signature hits I would say. This is the one that took over at #1 once "Time Marches On" got tanked, but fell right back to #3 with Cody Wants Out... 's final #9 rank! I don't know why .indulgecountry missed the memo with so many of his best hits, but this is yet another song that everybody put inside their top 10 but then he didn't even put in his top 20 ![:giggle:](//storage.proboards.com/1258812/images/KYziZwTotWGtjvzyvGqr.gif)

I fully expected “Alibis” to be a solid top 5 contender and the fact that it pretty much maintained a run in the top three is quite impressive.

This isn’t necessarily the top two that I would’ve expected, but both songs are certainly deserving of such a finish. I did think “Paint Me a Birmingham” would likely be one of the songs to come out on top, so I still have to give that one the edge over “Texas Tornado”.

There you have it!!! "Texas Tornado" might be a bit of a surprise winner, but honestly it is very deserving. While the rest of the top 5 turned into a clusterfuck, as Tim put it, this song kept its head down and kept raking in the high votes, staying consistent and quiet until it was ready to make its move at the end. Cody Wants Out... 's final #1 for it was the final push that it needed to get there, so don't ever think your individual lists don't matter!!! This was our least polarizing song, which helped it to consistently hang on to the top 3 even while extreme moves happened around it (like TMO being tanked from #1 to #4)! "Paint Me A Birmingham" was in a very similar position, as it got more top 10 votes than anything else in this rankdown, and used a low standard deviation to help it hang on while everything else got a little turbulent. It did get a few more low ranks than "Tornado" did, which was why it wasn't ever quite able to reach the top, but as you can see it came very close (only 2 points away)! Thank you to everyone who participated or followed along!!! I had a lot of fun exploring Tracy's career with you all. It may have been a bumpy ride, but it sure was fun and filled with great music! tim 's Travis Tritt rankdown, ClevelandRox 's John Michael Montgomery rankdown, and someguy's Mary Chapin Carpenter rankdown are all open right now honoring artists from a similar time period to Tracy, so make sure you check those out!

Everyone seems tired of seeing predictable outcomes to artist rankdowns where signature hits such as "Time Marches On" win, so y'all finally got your wish as this finale was kind of a wild ride. I certainly thought "Paint Me A Birmingham" would be a one of the songs to likely make it into the top two, so I'm just as surprised that it ended up missing coming out on top by a mere two points. While "Texas Tornado" winning was a bit of an unexpected shock, I'm actually not surprised to see that it was the least polarizing song as it really is a terrific song. Thanks for hosting this bboat11 ! I always enjoy rankdowns such as these as they give me the chance to revisit songs from my childhood ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) .

Not a bad song at all, but it just didn't stand out to me after finishing the list. Lyrics are good for sure, but the melody sounded flat to my ears. Edit: Also, pretty sure I committed a similar crime in the recordyear's RD, so redeeming may take some time lol ![](https://discourse.disneyheroesgame.com/uploads/default/original/2X/d/d8de0a7b019100296453be199d6a021a32d60bc1.gif) I mean this is a pretty big crime against Country Music, we might just have to revoke access to the Country Rankdown club for this one, "Time Marches On" is a classic and the melody is not flat even a little...

Damn, was so close to the win with "Birmingham." </3 At least "Tornado" won, which was way better than the other alternatives y'all seemed destined to force on this one. Glad 🌺CountryLineDancer swung in at the last minute to knock "Marches" off the pedestal. Whew.

Just wanted to say that I didn't mean to harm anyone's RD experiences with my rankings. I knew some posters wouldn't be happy with my lists, but at the same time, I believe it's better to base my lists on my own opinions, not based on my guesses about which songs others would like/hate. And I sometimes do have a different taste, maybe because I'm a little younger (21) or because of where I grew up. So you will definitely see my questionable rankings in the recordyear's RD or some YE RDs or more, and I'm willing and ready to receive some GIFs/comments on those lol, but just letting you know that I don't tank songs to offend people. :)

Sorry if it didn't come off that way. I think part of the fun of the rankdowns is moments like the "Time Marches On" one where a song everyone expects to win doesn't because of one or two people and then we all cry foul lol. I don't do the gifs or comments too often but anytime I do its usually done in the moment of like wow, I didn't expect that and throwing a tantrum that my favorite didn't do well is kinda funny. If it isn't let me know of course. and of course anytime you participate in a rankdown we all want you to rank the songs on your own opinions and nothing more so I'm happy to hear that is what you do, never thought you did anything else. Hope this didn't take away from your enjoyment of the rankdown!

I think the melody is great in "Time Marches On" and not only is it perfect for the lyrics and subject, but it sticks in listeners' heads, which is why I think it was such a big hit.
