LET'S GO DUA SHARPENER, LEVITATE TO THE TOP

I just realized that the AITO remix made no impact whatsoever. It's nowhere on Spotify or AM. Turns out if you want a remix to help with the charts, you need artists people actually care about. Hell, people probably care more about those meme remixes people are making mixing "Astronaut in the Ocean" with other songs that have been big on TikTok than the G-Eazy/DDG remix.

Even with all this hype towards Levitating getting that #1 spot I canβt really see it surpassing either Leave The Door Open or Peaches. Am I missing something?

Manifesting that Levitating doesn't go #1 on weekly charts but reaches #1 on YE.

Yeah, the battle for #1 on the 5/22 chart will likely be between LTDO and Peaches. Levitating is still ~20 points behind the two songs on the 5/15 chart, and I do not see it making up the difference in one week, especially with LTDO and Peaches being stable. I mean, TOTC was trying to hype up interlude as a potential #1 candidate the previous day.

Levitating is just super consistent in all metrics. The only category it lags in compared to LTDO and Peaches is radio, but thatβs catching up quickly.

Only thing is that J Cole's album release is this upcoming Friday, so it is likely one of the songs from that album will be #1. Then, of course, Butter (and Olivia's album) will be released the following week. I think Levitating will get stuck at #2 or #3. Being super consistent on the metrics is one thing (many songs have done that), but being to #1 over 30 weeks into a run is another (practically impossible). The only non-holiday songs that were #1 30+ weeks into its run were the Macarena (weeks 33-46), Despacito (weeks 30-32), All of Me (weeks 30-32), and Amazed (weeks 31 and 32). For as consistent as Blinding Lights is on all metrics, it never went to #1 after its 21st week.

For as consistent as Blinding Lights is on all metrics, it never went to #1 after its 21st week. I don't see J. Cole debuting a song at #1 unless it goes viral for whatever reason. I've said this before, but ever since 2014FHD, whenever he's in a legitimate album cycle, Cole seems more interested in promoting the album itself than any singles from it. Deja Vu and KOD may have debuted in the top 10, but they did not last there for more than a week. By contrast, Middle Child became his biggest hit because it was (at the time) a standalone single that garnered a lot of buzz, so he had an incentive to push the song itself. And even if the #1 is weak right now, keep in mind that pre-album single Cole just dropped on Friday fell back considerably the next day on US Spotify. Yes, I'm aware it's technically just an interlude, but you'd think his fanbase would keep it a little more stable considering the album is dropping in less than a week.

^ Well he is coming off singles like βMiddle Childβ, βThe Londonβ and βA Lotβ, iβm pretty sure if he just promoted a proper album single, it could actually do numbers.

One verse that barely goes by one-minute, no video, doubt it's gonna get any airplay. If it was an actual full song then yeah I'd be surprised at the drop but seeing this is a glorified promo track, I'm not sure why it's surprising he fell by a million on Spotify. Promo songs never have stable streaming patterns (The Archer, After Hours) so I absolutely expected this would happen.

I specifically left out The London and A Lot because they're technically not J. Cole's songs. Yes, he was featured on them, and he was a big reason why they were successful, but they were not being pushed by him so much as the lead artists and their respective teams. I don't doubt he could properly push a single from the upcoming album, but I'm seeing this pattern whenever he releases a new project, and with the release of an interlude as the lead single with no video or radio promotion, that pattern is likely to continue.

TOTC themselves suggest a 20 point margin between LTDO/Peaches and Levitating. In other words Levitating must increase 7-8% more to compete with the two (who are also increasing their airplay). That doesn't happen just by getting more airplay or 10k of Spotify streams daily. It requires some extra push, which is of course possible.

Legendtating is getting a huge radio push; if it keeps up 2 million+ updates the entire week it can earn up to 20 more points from that. It's also massively rising in sales, so that's a potential 10+ points, so it can rise 30 points if the cards are played right. Even if streaming falls a little, there can easily be an extra push on sales to make up for it.
Haters and doubters like can suck it. :)

It was posted on the first day because there was a nonzero chance it could've gone #1 based on the already available data. Just shut up in places you have zero clue about. Regardless, I'm not the one who said their estimates for Dynamite's sales were off for 3 consecutive weeks, only for them to basically get it right every single time. You can continue looking like a clown I guess.

Peaches really feels more like a summer song than Levitating even though I think Levitating is way better than it.
