Everything on the 1984 soundtrack is so good. I've always loved Julia. Annie looked incredible in this video.
Sexcrime (1984) was the only pseudo hit from the album.

At least I didn't lose a Top 10 tonight.
#30: "Computer Game" - Yellow Magic Orchestra very odd piece of music. The intro went on and on with that circus or fair vibe. At some point the Grim Reaper's jingle made an appearance. The melodic parts became easier to listen to, but it was really too much to digest. Vocals would have helped my rank a lot.
#29: "Love Rollercoaster" - Red Hot Chili Peppers This was always a fun jam. For some reason the song always reminds me of Final Destination 3. If you have seen the movie it will be obvious why, but that's what makes me like the song a whole lot more.
#28: "Like Humans Do" - David Byrne Music and vocals are passable, I'll stick to the early jams from his band. Also this type of lyrics sound silly to me.
#27: "Doubleplusgood" - Eurythmics This is from the odd concept album of theirs'. All that spoken delivery is very distracting. The melody in the music reminds me of other 80's songs.
#26: "Six Feet Under" (Photek remix) - Thomas Newman I have no use at all for this type of music. ...and as we all know by now...I hate that type of looped percussion.

Thoughts on various songs that dropped here:
34. Make Love, F War---I'm aware of the controversies involving Public Enemy. Having said that, Public Enemy has done a great job with using their music to speak out on issues of the day at their best. There's a good reason why Fight the Power was so prevalent on Do the Right Thing. This song felt like it'd fit in well with their best ones. And surprisingly, Moby provided a good background music for this one. I kind of thought the two would have clashed sonically.
31. Liar, Liar---Deborah Harry is a talent. Although this wasn't as good as Blondie's holy trinity (Rapture, Heart of Glass, Call Me), Harry's playful vocals carry the day on this one. Also, I didn't remember this song in the Jim Carrey film?
29. Love Rollercoaster---Solid cover of the Ohio Players song. The Chili Peppers made this one fun. Strange that I haven't seen either Final Destination 3 or Beavis and Butthead Do America.
27. Doubleplusgood---There was an unusual song structure to this one. I dug the drums, particularly at the beginning. The vocals as it were kept my interest. Guess I'll have to check out the 1984 movie then.
26. Six Feet Under Theme Remix---I felt like they were going for Enigma here with the snippets of dialogue and dance beats. Didn't always worked, but I did get it.

...after a loooooooooong delaly...time to start the top half results... #25: "Down On The Corner - Johnny Marr
To describe this man as prolific is an understatement. He's been a member of The Pretenders, The The, Electronic (w/Bernard Sumner), Modest Mouse & of course the legendary Smiths. He's also been guest guitarist on albums by Avalanches, Beth Orton, Billie Eilish, Billy Bragg, Black Grape, Blondie, Bryan Ferry, A Certain Ratio, Charlatans, Crowded House, Everything But The Girl, Kirsty MacColl, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Pet Shop Boys and Talking Heads...to name but a few. But not until 2003 did he record his first solo album, Boomslang (with his band at the time The Healers) which is the only album of his not on Spotify.

For good reason, it was from the much funnier Jonathan Demme movie Married to the Mob (starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew Modine and Dean Stockwell). Very funny mob movie w/ a great soundtrack.

#23: "Baby's In The Mountains" - Peter Godwin
This man is best remembered for writing/recording "Criminal World" for his band Metro in 1977. While the song was banned by the BBC due to "bisexual overtones", David Bowie liked it enough to cover it on his Let's Dance album six years later. Spotify has several of his recent singles available (the latest being from last year), but neither 1983's Correspondence (his only solo studio album), nor 1998's Images Of Heaven (his best-of collection) is on there. If you like this song (which peaked at #4 on the US Dance charts), be sure to checkout his other hit "Images Of Heaven" which peaked at #22 on the same chart a year earlier and is also nowhere on Spotify.

#21: "Scary Kisses" - Voice Of The Beehive
Featuring two daughters of Bruce Belland of The Four Preps on vocals, and two ex-members of Madness (among others), this band released three albums. And three greatest hits collections. Funny thing is that all of the best-of albums exclude songs from the third album. And wouldn't you know, that third album, 1996's Sex & Misery, is the only album of theirs not available on Spotify. From that album "Scary Kisses" charted at #77 in the US, while "Angel Come Down" charted at #86 in the UK. This is the highest song on this rankdown to not feature any top 10 rankings.

#19: "Jane's Getting Serious" - Jon Astley
Before he was one of our "Friends", Matt LeBlanc promoted Heinz ketchup with this song as the backdrop. Being Pete Townshend's ex-brother-in-law helped Jon Astley get an in to co-produce the Who Are You album. Other artists he's produced for range from ABBA to Judas Priest to Sting to Emmylou Harris to Tears For Fears to Led Zeppelin (just to name a few). He recorded two albums of his own in the late 80s - neither of which are on Spotify. This song was #7 on the (pre-Modern Rock) Mainstream Rock chart, while "Put This Love To The Test" went to #3 on Modern Rock (both were made the lower reaches of the Hot 100). Also check out his third single "Been There, Done That" which while it never charted, was a song I played on-air at WVUR back in the day.

*** #1 Rank Alert!!! ***#16: "One Simple Thing" - The Stabilizers
Looks like I'm the first to lose my #1 song here. This band was from Erie, PA & only recorded one album, 1986's Tyranny. This was their lead single & it peaked at #21 on Mainstream Rock & #93 on the Hot 100. The music video was directed by a young David Fincher. Once I heard this song in my freshman year of college, I was hooked HARD. The band released the title track as the follow up single & video, but that garnered no attention. They recorded one more song "Maybe This Time" for the If Looks Could Kill soundtrack, and then were never heard from ever again.

Never, never underestimate Tears for Fears, is what I've learned. New Order is generally pretty consistent, but I'm thinking Top 5 is the best it can do. Oh, yeah, are we going to DQ Aaliyah because she's on Spotify now?!?!

#15: "Selfish" - Other Two
If you didn't know i was a huge New Order fan, this rankdown should've clued you in. First, the band itself is included, plus one of Peter Hook's side projects (which has already been revealed). And right here are the OTHER two members of the band, Gillian Gilbert & Stephen Morris. This side project released two albums in the 90s. Their eponymous debut from 1992 only very recently became available on Spotify - hooray!

#14: "Elegantly Wasted" - INXS
Yet another of my favorite bands (I hosted a rankdown of all of their singles a few years back). Sadly, this was the last album of the original lineup. There was the reality show to search for a new lead singer & the subsequent album, which wasn't terrible, but not great either - NOBODY can replace Michael Hutchence! This is yet another example of an album that wasn't on Spotify until very recently. It seems about 20% of the songs on this rankdown have been added since I opened the thread. I'll take it. Congrats to Power on the PPPPP!

Pretty solid top 10. I had been really rooting for "Modern Day Delilah" but I'm glad that my top 4 were all able to make it.

a pair of tunes from the band that would morph into Cracker in the 90s...why Camper Van Beethoven omitted these from their greatest his collection is a mystery to me:

once the late 80s arrived, Devo's quality slipped slightly, but I wish these were accessible on Spotify anyway:

from the Dr Detroit soundtrack:

she's persona-non-grata after her homophobic rants...too bad as her music was quite nice...this is not the version i'm familiar with but it's all i can find...also, "On The Greener Side" is nowhere to be found on YouTube either:
