Excellent idea for a rankdown! However, "Try Again" is actually available on Spotify, though under one of those compilations with horror movie covers.



It might be geo-blocked, though, so if that's the case, it can feature in the rankdown as normal. Otherwise, it seems the two big Aaliyah singles that are completely missing are "Miss You" and "One In A Million".

"Try Again" along with "Ride Or Die" and both Snoop Dogg songs are blocked for me, but i can play the rest of the album...granted, the other blocked songs may be available on Spotify via other albums, i don't know...

anyway, i'm not sure how i can determine that what is blocked for me (in the US, Minnesota to be more specific) is available in other countries, so i'm going to keep this list as is
...i suppose maybe i should change the name to "the Unavailable (to me) on Spotify Rankdown"

This is the guitarist/vocalist from the punk band Buzzcocks.  I would've included this in our list of 50, but it WAS on Spotify until a few weeks ago.  You can rank this one right now in the 1981 Modern Rock rankdown.

Similar in style to (and mostly predating) Pop Will Eat Itself, Age Of Chance would not enjoy the same longevity. While most of their singles from their brief existence are on Spotify, this Prince cover & the album it's from (Crush Collision) are not...another song of theirs not on Spotify is: "Bible Of The Beats"

EXTRA:  "Blink Of An Eye" - Berlin

While Spotify has Berlin's 80's heyday albums available, once the 90s roll around, the selection gets spotty...I know that Terri Nunn & co. have re-recorded much of their material due to rights issues (similar to what Taylor Swift has done)...but this is the best song they've done since at least "No More Words" & it's a crime that you can't get it on Spotify. Oh btw, the album it's on was produced by none other than Billy Corgan.

I'm in on this rankdown, am halfway through the rankings.  Here's one from the Tarney/Spencer Band, nowhere to be found on Spotify.

The song "No Time to Lose" made the Billboard Top 100 twice - in 1979 and 1981.  Two years after the Tarney/Spencer Band broke up, "No Time to Lose" aired in 1981 when MTV was launched.  A&M then reissued the song, which charted a second time, reaching No. 74.  Post break-up, band member Alan Tarney worked as a producer and songwriter and assisted in Cliff Richard with the single "We Don't Talk Anymore".  Tarney also worked with a-ha during the 1980s: he produced their first three albums Hunting High and Low (including their single, "Take on Me")

Crazy. I fixed it. The song is great and the video really is a capture of beach life in the late 70's California. Worth checking out.

There's a bit of panic due to a Spotify curse which allows no entrance to Blondie's albums from '99 to '11 (No Exit, Curse Of Blondie & Panic Of Girls). While "Maria" does appear via a greatest hits album, you still can't find the song above, "No Exit", "Nothing Is Real But The Girl", or "What I Heard"

are you Garth?  i ask for a few reasons:
1) he's been known to go by aliases before
2) you use "ain't" which means "am not" which is the first person form of the verb "to be"
