Well, my 80s memories of Skyy are only a few notches higher than that of Surface, so...

In retrospect I could/should have ranked Start of a Romance just inside my top 20, but they kept getting knocked back by other songs I had more sentimental attachement for.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he began hitting the charts in the mid-'70s, but it wasn't until this song that he finally reached the top of the soul chart. It's a remake of a song that was first recorded by Johnny Mathis in 1972. Al Wilson's 1973 version is the most successful and well-known, topping the Hot 100 and peaking at #10 soul. "Show & Tell" was also Peabo's first single on his brief return to the Capitol label.
