Is there any chance that blinding lights goes recurrent on 6/5.But if it goes recurrent, is there any chance of re entering back to top 15 on 6/12 after bbma and massive drop of Sours track?

It's true tho. It doesn't matter if they've sold stadiums here b/c if mass buying wasn't a thing it's clear they wouldn't be touching #1 or even be close But those are sales that bring revenue. Billboard is a revenue chart. I'm disgusted by the anti-East Asian sentiment in this thread/board. Hi. From the looks of things, thereβs barely going to be any movement among the longer-established songs next week because Olivia is going to fill in the gaps where J. Cole currently is as his album bomb fades. Because of that and the impact of the BBMAs, Blinding Lights will once again be close to the recurrent threshold, but not quite gone. After that, itβll probably return to the top 20, but not quite as high as it was before J. Cole. |

Reminder that Billboard has no reason to change the rules, and neither does the industry as a whole. Itβs a business - the more money, the better. More clicks for BB, more $$ for labels and artists. It ultimately doesnβt matter which side you take or who you root for, they all win, regardless of where they end up charting, and we end up poorer for caring.

I have been saying that Blinding Lights was in a better position than those songs fighting to stay above the Top 50 cutoff. For one, the impact of the BBMAs helped BL. Secondly, BL is in a high enough position on the charts where J Cole's songs would drop below it. Several of the J Cole songs will drop to the 26-50 range, just how many of them chart in that range will determine which songs go recurrent. For sure, On Me and What You Know Bout Love are going recurrent. Songs like The Good Ones, Back In Blood, Mood, and even my ex's best friend aren't totally safe either. |

Am I correct to assume this means equivalent and not actual sales? At this point it's too hard to hit actual meaningful milestones in actual sales (even for albums), so 99% of these "achievements" are SPS. Even Taylor Swift, who's one of the last acts to move 1m in pure sales won't hit that milestone with evermore or the Fearless remake. |
