Billboard needs to close the loophole on that too (like they need to with website sales). Those songs should be withheld from the charts until they actually re-enter the Top 50. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind One Too Many charting if it ranked high on the one metric (like BTS does with sales), but it’s barely even ranked (#45) on the one metric it’s charting. That’s a problem when a song with those stats can appear on a Hot 100 chart. It would be like if random BTS song charted on the Hot 100 despite ranking at #45 on the digital songs chart and nowhere else to be found on the other component charts.

I actually have a question regarding that loophole... "For The Night" seems to have started a Pop radio run, so could it re-enter in the top 50 if it goes back above the threshold, since it's technically an active radio push to a recurrent song like it's happened before ("Good as Hell", for example)?

If the song is more than 20 weeks old, then it probably is stale and does not deserve to be on the charts. To be #51 on radio, for example, it would be behind songs like Circles, Before You Go, and Adore You. (Do you really want to see such a song charting?)
As for songs that are really strong on one metric, believe me, it drove me insane when PYRO was charting despite only being #10 or #11 on radio and not being found on sales and streaming. As much as I don’t like one-metric songs, I can at least be okay with them charting if they show strength in the metric.

It's an underrated method for country songs to make the YE list. More weeks = moar songs. It's also a way to maximize streams, and it's happening more & more. You still have those that are rushing for the #1 (Jake Owen, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, and the hilarious attempt from Rascal Flatts)... ...but you'll also notice that songs from names that are equally as big as those currently have songs that have been dragging on for months on end: Garth Brooks ("Shallow"), Jon Pardi ("Tequila Little Time" which has been on radio FOREVER), Kane Brown ("Worship You"), Kenny Chesney (although "Happy Does"' run is arguably part of the first category, "Knowing You" has also been sitting for a little while), Kelsea Ballerini ("half of my hometown"), Justin Moore ("We Didn't Have Much"), hell, even Dan + Shay ("Glad You Exist"), and it goes on and on and on... It would seem as though Nashville has found its new way to have its little lock on streams especially for b-listers, and it's also very noticeable when you look at how many weeks all of those songs have spent on the Country (either all-around or Airplay) chart...!

From what I can tell, a large chunk of FTN’s spins on Pop right now are coming from one station in Norfolk, VA. So I don’t expect it to translate to much beyond doing decently on the Hot 100 Recurrents chart.

Yet, you are okay with a song that is ranked #51 on radio (which would be behind Circles, Adore You, and Before You this week) charting.

One Too Many is charting legitimately
It is gaining at radio holding steady in sales (don't have the numbers but if it even gained one copy - it is still a gain --- same position though as last week) fell one spot in streaming

I ignored your first post for a reason. reading it a second time didn't make it better. have you considered: "Circles", "Adore You", and "Before You Go" are ALSO clogging up the charts? if a song is slowly gaining momentum and is just outside the Top 50 on all 3 metrics, why the fuck does it matter that it's below a 3 year old song radio can't stop spinning for some reason? you are contradicting yourself. do you want new artists on the Bubbling Under chart to break into the Hot 100, or do you want to keep them out because they're below "Circles", "Adore You", and "Before You Go", or god forbid they might replace "Blinding Lights"? something tells me you don't even know what you're talking about yourself.

"One Too Many" is charting because it's still gaining in performance. Even though it got pushed down rank-wise due to the new debuts above it, it gained chart points week over week. The last time "Blinding Lights" showed weekly gains in performance was on the February 20 chart (Super Bowl effect). It deserves to go recurrent. I'd say songs like it are the ones clogging up the chart and taking up a spot from other deserving artists in the Bubbling Under chart, not the ones that are currently gaining. Gaining in performance in radio (it did get the bullet there by staying at #45 in Radio Songs), but apparently not enough to actually get the bullet on the Hot 100. The radio gain 20 week Hot 100 recurrency isn't a rule they have actually written or explained, but seems to be one the chart editors are willing to enforce as if it were a rule.

I was going by the TOTC data where it got a 1-point gain on the Hot 100. if it doesn't have a bullet, when is it supposed to go recurrent? the first week it loses it or does it need to repeat without a bullet to go recurrent?

Moved from 14 to 12 at country radio
Doesn't have to show a gain on all-genre chart just a gain in one genre
It is charting legitimately

Incorrect, it did bullet this week. It wasn't given the bullet indicator on the Hot 100 because it dropped too many positions because of all of the debuts, but on Hot Country Songs, where it only slides 12-13, it was given the indicator. This happened as well back in 2016 with "Head Over Boots", I got Gary Trust to confirm it back in the day!

Don't look now, but it's quite possible we may see that happen if we get another radio push for Wasted On You, given that it is still struggling at the bottom of the Hot 100 and might be able to avoid recurrency by the same method. i would actually die lol, I hate it when these country songs live forever on the Hot 100 because of super belated radio pushes

I'm guessing Billboard just doesn't like doing too many backwards bullets, so it keeps the song on the chart but doesn't give them a bullet.

www.billboard.com/charts/radio-songsBlinding Lights has spent 70 weeks on Radio Songs! Is this the longest run ever? I'd guess it's the biggest Hot 100, Radio and Pop song of all-time (in term of points of course).

Keep in mind, when Blinding Lights goes recurrent, it can no longer chart on the radio songs chart. However, it will still be eligible to chart on the streaming and digital songs charts.

Still, I imagine that Blinding Lights would have more points from such a chart because of consistently higher position than either of those two songs, although both of them were played on the radio to death in the mid 90's; I remember.

Well probably 'Til I Hear It From You' was the "B side" to 'Follow You Down', thus never charted by itself
'One Headlight' never charted on the Hot 100

One Headlight was one of many, many victims of Billboard's stupid airplay-only chart rules back in the day.

I don't follow TOTC, Anyway Til I Hear It From You charted airplay only in August 1995, in week 28 was joined by 'Follow You Down' Then and only then was the single released in Feb 1996, with 'Follow You Down' as the lead, and was listed first on the Hot 100 because 'Til I hear It From You' had already peaked

no Til I Hear It From You, Gin Blossoms 72 weeks in 1995-96 One Headlight from The Wallflowers also charted 70 weeks different eras, and different chart rules obviously,. "Til I Hear From You" was at #73 in its last week, and "Blinding Lights" will be in the top 15. I mean, you're still right, but...

The milestones keep on coming for Blinding Lights:
(Although, I have to admit that BL probably would have gone recurrent if not for the BBMA's.)

The Weeknd needs to do some biggest song of all time campaign Rerelease the song in like 10 formats with a bunch of his friends to just remix keep it alive for a few more months

Not to diminish the Twitter accounts because they do good work. But, they are not sanctioned by Billboard, record labels or anyone official.
Doing extra promo for the “biggest Hot 100 hit” of all time tag is premature until Billboard themselves picks that up and updates their list
