Written by Mariah Carey and The-Dream, produced by Mariah Carey and the iconic duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

A nostalgic jam. I love the snippet!

"No such thing as lovers and friends..."
I'm over the moon regarding what I'm hearing in the snippet. She's lively, the production is lively, it's a bop. This is the type of song I'd love to hear her and Bruno collaborate on.

Is it a new (or unreleased) song?

It's cute. Definitely sounds like her other work with The-Dream. It would fit on Memoirs.

Where did the title "There You Go Breaking My Heart Again" come from?

Where did the title "There You Go Breaking My Heart Again" come from? The song was titled "Mariah Carey - Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breaking My Heart)" in the Hit Predictor Jukebox when I ripped the short clip. However, in a screen shot from earlier that day posted on Twitter, the title was simply shown as "Mariah Carey - There You Go Breaking My Heart".

It's just interested to me Mariah has talked about liking Jam/Lewis' 80s work with SOS Band and others (and even covered/sampled that work) but then doesn't make that kind of music when she works with them.

Jimmy said the concept of the album is recording music with each of these acts that sounds like their classic style, so it makes sense to me this sounds more like a Mariah song (specifically a 2008-2009 Mariah song in my opinion) than an 80s Jam & Lewis track.

Well, I wasn't referring to this song as much as all of her work with them. The songs she did with them on Rainbow and Charmbracelet don't sound much like SOS Band, Thelma Houston, etc.

So she missed Jam and Lewis peak period, "Thank God" was almost like a leftover by Jamlewis standards. I would be excited if she made a duet with Mint Condition or Lo-Key produced by Jam and Lewis, but that train is long gone I guess.

Very radio friendly, actually. Moreso than any of the Caution songs.

Sounds like something straight out Dream’s LoveHate era tbh. I like it tho. R&B radio should eat it up!

I love it. Vocals on point.
It sounds like a mix of MemoirsxChanteuse eras.

So on first listen I didn't like it and it seemed all over the place, but even on just the second listen I like it a lot more. There's real movement in the song, which is nice.

This is cute, I like it. The chorus is a breath of fresh air. I have to agree with other's it is a bit all over the place. The chorus is so uplifting that the production feels "stop and go" through out the song. Not as bad as in "Save The Day" though. (not comparing song quality). I like all the different sections though. I bet after a few listens I won't even notice.
I think I would still like this if it was done by another artist but it's so Mimi that it's hard imagining another artist singing it. lol.

This is nice. The chorus is actually great.
Not sure about the prechorus.

YAS at the Mariah vocabulary in the opening verse.
I like all of the pieces of the song individually, but I agree together it's a little all over the place. I'm sure it will gel together with repeated listens.

The Dream touch makes sense because he’s on the writer list. I like this a lot.

I'm assuming most of the vocals are from when this song was originally written (and maybe recorded).

Yeah I'm not so sure this was recorded all that recently. The Toni Braxton song on the project is from the Libra (2005) sessions.
