^It appears it has to do with this: Two almost 50 yo men declaring a cease-fire over a long-forgotten, publicity-generated 'beef.' People still haven't figured out that 99.9% of all artist wars, disputes, rivalries, etc. are manufactured? Controversy and conflict grab headlines and clicks, peace and harmony don't. Will be interesting to see how well Sour's tracks hold. Could be a benefit to releasing the 'shorter' album instead of spreading those streams across 20 tracks.

About time this was pushed as a single. (Unfortunately, that image is gonna haunt me for the rest of this week, and possibly for the rest of its chart run if it becomes a hit.) Thatβs my favorite off the album. I hope they give it a radio push. The era already feels like the βTeenage Dreamβ of the 2020s, they might as well keep going. The album was never dead but her team is smart for using the momentum of βLevitatingβ to pump out more singles.

Wants and Needs sure is relentless on US Apple Music. After being pushed out of the top 25 following the release of J. Cole's album and out of the top 40 following the release of Olivia's album, it's back at #7 on the chart. Like βLove Againβ, this song should definitely have the MV and radio push. Especially with Lil Baby and Durkβs collab album coming, I donβt think its a better time to start bringing action to this song than now.

The album was never dead but her team is smart for using the momentum of βLevitatingβ to pump out more singles. Yes, except for the #1 hits and hitting #1 on the album chart. But it does have a lot of singles, so I guess you could make that specific comparison.

Iβm just waiting for this to finally break into the hot 100. Itβs one of the best (and most shameless) samples this year and I hope it picks up more traction, especially the little bit of controversy that can be propelled by republican outrage.

I want the trend of sampling early-2000s pop hits for trap songs. Let's sample Miranda Branch next!

Don't know about music, but the future of Artist names ain't that bright. Iβd say itβs more creative than the βTheβ bands of history. The Beatles, the doors, the cars, the floors, the tables, the toes, π΄ But itβs an easy target for oldies to comment on. Iβve been seeing it more in the last year or so.

Those 2 songs are just too strong right now and I think KMM will have to settle for a #3 peak, unless it can pull a Bad Guy/Senorita/Truth Hurts/SYL and hold on just long enough for G4u and Butter to lose steam.

^ that's about 54.1% of SOUR's first-week US streams coming from Spotify. Good to know. I wonder how many streams she pulled from other platforms (separate from Apple Music). Oh well.

No, race has nothing to do with this. Everyone thinks itβs always about race. Hip hop is frowned upon because they glorify gang violence or just being a POS. Listen to the song and youβll figure out theyβre talking about the people that they actually killed. This type of music is horrible for the younger generation because they slowly become like it. I would know because I used to listen to rappers who were misogynistic and before you knew it I was also hella misogynistic and when I realized that I stopped listening to it. You are what you listen to. People like to give BTS hate but at least they keep it wholesome. Before you call me racist I also donβt listen to white artists who rap like this. My favorite kind of music is Bruno Mars oldies. (Just the way you are, Grenade) say no to gang violence! Stop glorifying it.

My favorite kind of music is Bruno Mars oldies. (Just the way you are, Grenade) say no to gang violence! Stop glorifying it. I'm gonna be honest with you boomer, this debate has been happening for decades. From Metallica, to Madonna, from the early opening of hip-hop all the way up to Cardi B and Lil Nas X now. Music and media in general (violent video games, horror movies) aren't linked to more violence, it has never been a thing. Maybe there's some influence but this whole thing about kids listening to rap music is gonna influence them to join gangs is stupid, Old Town Road was #1 for 19 weeks and kids weren't turning into cowboys and asking their parents for a horse instead of a car for their sixteenth birthday. What makes kids get into gangs or drugs or other bad stuff is the way this country is built, from keeping kids in low income neighborhoods, to mental health care being mocked and highly expensive in the states, to the easy access to guns. These are all issues that our government need to take care of, it's not rap music influencing our kids. Last time I checked Kendrick Lamar isn't the one who put the drugs in the black neighborhoods, it was Reagan and the like.

I'd watch out for As The World Caves In, the cover version on YouTube by Sarah Cothran is going viral (I checked the video last night and it had 3.5 million views and this morning it just reached 4 million). Both the original and cover are gaining quite a bit of traction on TikTok and of course the OG version pushed 116-111 on Spotify today.
