Love Again was finally #1 on the top 6 at 6 in Halifax 101.3 tonight! (after being at #2 for the last two weeks while Bad Habits was #1)

Is there really no clean version of this I can get from Apple Music? I really want to get into it and the song is great, but GD is the one curse I absolutely don’t do.

Goddamn is really considered a curse? Like until I heard about the radio editing it out I would of never even thought about it being a curse. Maybe it's a culture thing.

Did her team not expect it to get censored? (As a Southern Californian, I can't blame them).
If they saw the censor coming, they could have EASILY made a clean edit without the excessive pause like this lol

No. I don't think 'goddamn' is considered a curse and, even, a culture thing in the US. However, I assume it tends to be to Christian/conservative people, hence the reason why they think that this is a swear word. Personally, I wouldn't bother too much about it, but I think they just need to remove 'god' in 'goddamn' and the song will be fine for clean/radio edit purposes.

Many Americans are more comfortable saying words like the f slur or the n word than using the lord’s name in vain lol. Her team looks prepared with a different version (“but you….you got me in love again”) but it removes one of the hookiest parts of the song. She could’ve at least done, “but aw damn” or something. Eh, maybe they tried and it didn’t sound good. I don’t think this will be very big anyway (😭). Fingers crossed that it’ll make the Top 30 on the Hot 100. All I want is for it to out-peak “We’re Good” Sidebar - I saw this girl on TikTok lip syncing some America first rap song with the lyrics “everybody gay but you can’t say f*g though / Same f*g’ll turn around and burn down a flagpole / but I’m an asshole? / cuz I like Trump?” and she felt comfortable saying the f-slur but not ASSHOLE 💀💀💀💀 And she wasn’t even the only one doing it?!?!? That’s a big chunk of America in a nutshell

Would it be such a chore or waste of money to quickly record a radio edit that replaces goddamn with, say, hot damn or oh man for the ultra conservative stations?
Edit: honestly, thinking about it, hot damn would sound fucking fire there

Edit: honestly, thinking about it, hot damn would sound f**king fire there On Netflix's Song Explorer she said that the original lyric the writers came up with was actually 'Hotdamn' but she hated it and changed it to 'Goddamn', so I'm sure she would block that edit. But yeah, there are a lot of other options they could have went that would be better than the stupid censorship.

They really should just censor "god" and be done with it. The version I've been hearing removes the entire word, and the pause is kind of awkward.
Side note, I first heard this on KIIS before it made the top 50. I swear it was uncensored at that time (even during the day), but I've heard it since there and it's edited. Weird.

If you have a computer with Apple Music on it, just download the clean edit separately as an mp3 then add it to your library. After Apple Music syncs to iCloud, you’ll have that newly downloaded version on Apple Music on all your other devices. It’s a bit of extra work but so worth it. Apple Music is awesome for being able to mix both streamed and owned music on same playlists.

Super interesting that some here don't even consider goddamn a curse. I grew up in the ultra-conservative rural Christian south and that's as bad of a curse word as it gets. I've left that mindset in my past though and scream "goddamn" loudly every time I jam out to this song

I’m actually extremely liberal in my social and political views, but personally am a practicing Christian. These things are not conflicting to me, quite the contrary, however it makes GD something I just don’t vibe with and totally avoid. Thanks for the Apple Music tip though, I’m going to give it a try!

I've left that mindset in my past though and scream "goddamn" loudly every time I jam out to this song It's interesting because it's usually been censored in songs in the past on the radio, but I kind of wonder if the way the word has been traditionally viewed is changing within the music industry. Lil Baby saying "goddamn it" in DJ Khaled's "I Did It" isn't censored on the radio either, so it feels like maybe some of the stigma around that word is lessening (because I don't think that's ever happened before, and now we have TWO current songs that don't censor it) , and we're going to see a shift here where that word isn't censored anymore. As for the second part of this post, I totally do that too! It feels kind of empowering for some reason lol.

Jeez another controversial Dua Lipa song?? first was that "cocaine" part in We're Good (on my playlist I have the radio/clean edit just like Montero) and now this?
I really didn't know it was almost on the level of the n word. Wow.
Edit: Yeah, now I remember another song that radio "censored" that part, This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race by Fall Out Boy.
I am Catholic (not too religious tho, I only go to church like once a year on Christmas lol) but it doesn't bother me, meh.

Just another consideration that popped into my mind that also may affect others. I listen to my playlist with my kid in the car, so I always opt for the clean edits of songs nowadays. He loves jamming to pop music and hearing the latest songs, but he’s definitely not at the age where I would let certain words fly. That’s why I always appreciate an official clean edit. And I think I am likely not alone in that scenario and it could limit the potential success of the song without one.

I haven't heard the radio edit, is it that bad? I'm just remembering the radio edit of Supalonely which totally ruined the whole song

I really didn't know it was almost on the level of the n word. Wow. It seems like a bit of a leap to say it's on the same level as that. Unlike the n-word, people's opinion "goddamn" seems to be based solely on religion, as it would be considered saying God's name in vain. It seems like the stigma around it (as with phrases like "Oh my God") has lessened in general culturally in recent years, which is probably why we're seeing a shift in the censorship of it. I don't really feel it's offensive at all, but I respect anyone that might feel differently about the issue even if I don't agree.
