One of Robert Palmer's better singles, IMO. Interesting lyrics, catchy song.

Don't expect me to rank Led Zeppelin top 5 or even top 10 again. This has always been my favorite by them, that guitar solo is just amazing and the fact that they keep that catchy riff going the whole time. That weird breakdown in the middle is something I love too.
Edit: The Samba section, I just thought it was weird for Led Zeppelin, not weird in general. Either way, I love it.

fell behind here. let's check out some extras:
No Secrets - The Angels Musically it sounds like Tommy Tuntone. Pretty good, but the vocals sound like a warped Tom Petty I didn't like the vocals at all.
Those Shoes - Eagles Funny thing is I have this album and yet don't recall this song at all. The first few chords got me thinking "American Woman" for the Guess Who. Not a bad rocker at all. I do recall those vocoder effix tho. Not a fan of that shite in music.
Rockin' Into the Night - .38 Special Shame we didn't get to rank this. being a huge .38 Special fan I would have slotted this one top 20 on my list. It easily made my own top 100 of 1979. Southern Rock on FIRE. Among .38 Special's biggest charting hits this is the most aggressive one. You know it from the intro.
Oh Yeah - Roxy Music A different one from the one we ranked. I didn't get that cool Duran Duran feel here. I did get a Bob Seger one that I didn't ask for tho. Actually it got a lot better once the chorus rolled in, but still nothing I need to rank on this format.
I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide - ZZ Top No matter what you always get a hint of that same hook in ZZ Top songs. This one has a little bit of Blues too. I didn't really get the feel of the vocals, but they fit the song just fine.
Neon Knights - Black Sabbath I have never had the honor of hearing this song on the radio. I would have loved to blast it on the car speakers. I have ranked the hell out of this song on other Rds, and believe you me it would have made my top 5. That rank of mine along with many high ranks from the rest of you would have pushed it into the top 5. Am I right or am I right?
let's get this show on the road.
55. Clones (We're All) - Alice Cooper After some of the praises it got on Modern rock I would have expected a much higher rank here. Discovered this song in the late 80's. Right about the same time "Poison" ruled my world. The man was ahead of his time.
54. Cheap Sunglasses - ZZ Top Not a song I'm very familar with and a very different vive for the band. Vocal are very different too, but I dig the dirty blues rock swagger this has. I upgraded this one for the lyrics a LOT.
53. She's So Cold - The Rolling Stones There are still quite a few boner ranks for this song. The music alone scream the best of The Rolling Stones groove. So in tune with Mick's vocals. He sings this one with attitude. Just a few more points to get another top 50 for tham.
52. Late in the Evening - Paul Simon Funny what we remember when we were kid. I loved the funbop "You Can Call Me Al" feat. Chevy Chase, but recall hated when this came on the radio. M<y dad would even change the radio dial. I'm just glad the folk crowd didn't upgrade this one for his name alone.
51.Any Way You Want It - Journey You guys are horrible to this band. Anyway this song will always show up in my top 10. It's a sing a long...excuse me Scream along (if your week vocals can keep up. Mine can) Pop rock masterpiece. At least I didn't have to see this rank until today.
50. Rough Boys - Pete Townshend Deservingly got an upgrade here. I didn't think it worked on Modern Rock, but really gets the guitar magic message thru on this list. I do like the other one better too.
49. Real Love - The Doobie Brothers A pop song no one thought I would upgrade in to my top 40. I don't have too many Doobie favs, but this one is smooth. Reminds me of Player's "Baby Comeback" or those Ambrosia hits. There are a some Lite Rock jams that really sound good on any format.
48. I'm Alright (Theme from "Caddyshack") - Kenny Loggins This is pretty high compared to some other Rds. Not complaining tho. I love this song. As far as Kenny Loggins go this is one of my favs. I remember this more from Caddy Shack than anything else. Kinda like "Any way You Want It", but they make a strong impace when you are young.
47. Beatin' the Odds - Molly Hatchet This is passable. Not really my style. I like Southern Rock , but with cleaner vocals like Boston or .38 Special. Not really into this guy's gruffy style.
46. Coming Up - Paul McCartney Perfect slot for the song. Sounds a little simple in music and Paul's flavor of Pop was always a little to sugary for me, but I do like this little groove.
45. Everything Works If You Let It - Cheap Trick I love the band, and this song is alright, but I love so many other Cheap Trick song so much more. I'll save those high ranks for those songs.
44. Voyager - Gamma This is alright. I didn't recall this one. A bit too tame for me. 'nuff said.
43. Black Blade - Blue Öyster Cult Didn't recall this one either. Not too memorable. I would have definitely shot this one down the list if it wasn't for all those guitars. However it does have a certain vocal charm that could make it a grower.
42. Cinnamon Girl (Live) - Neil Young & Crazy Horse The younger version of this guy wasn't too Nirvana. His vocals were not half bad, but this list was strong with music I did know or better guitar hooks.
41. Lola (Live) - The Kinks This is alright. Probably give a higher rank for a studio version. I like their faster songs like "You Really Got Me", but I still prefer Van Halen's.

Extras:The Zoo - ScorpionsLet's start off with a Scorps jam I would have done everything possible to squeeze into my top 10. Not one of their fastest nor anything that fierce, but that pounding bassline is the stuff that makes Metal anthems. Those are the ones you raise your devil horns to. Speaking of horns that Album cover. Scorps are known for some album covers that would make some of you squirm. I have a few of those European banned covers in my collection. All Over the World - Electric Light OrchestraAnything from Xanadu gets a free pass in to my top 30. Including that Tubes/Olivia Newton -John mash up. ELO hits the right notes for this movie's fantasy vibe.. I would have put "I'M Alive" in my top 20 and even "Xanadu" too. Don't Ask Me Why - Billy JoelI only knew the two we ranked. This isn't for me at all. Private Idaho - The B-52'sThis is nice. I'm tainted to "Rock Lobster" and anything that sounds like that will always come in second place. We Don't Talk Anymore - Cliff RichardI love this song, and Poprock in general. I prefer Poprock on mainstream to Modern Rock so I would most likely sail this one into my top 30. ...and "Suddenly" with Olivia Newton-John too. funny enough this song has that pounding bassline I love too, but in the end I'm glad we didn't get to rank any of these songs. They could take up too much slots in my top 40. Bring On the Night- The PoliceInteresting first time listen. I hear that Stevie Nicks song "Edge Of Seventeen" in the guitar hook. This isn't half bad. The melody is pretty strong. Y ou'll Accomp'ny Me - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet BandMore Bob Seger buy me a ranch commercial music. This ranch comes with horses too. What I missed earier today.
40. It's Still Rock and Roll to Me - Billy JoelI like this one. Really over ranked it on my list. Mainly because of the lyrics and the message it gives. It doesn't apply to today's rock music which is anything, but Rock n Roll to me, but it did apply to 80's. What are those low ranks about? What did he do now? 39. Romeo's Tune - Steve ForbertThis is a lame tune that I never liked. Not on pop ,and certainly not here. Sounds like a lamer version of The Cheers theme. 38. Even It Up - HeartCool. I knew this would end up a lot higher. Great slot I will certainly outrank everyone the day we rank "Barracuda"37. Tempus Fugit - YesThis wasn't too too terrible , but still a little too much prog for me to absorb in one listen. 36. You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DCIt's ranting time gain. 8D Seriously? I guess this wouldn't be a PULSE mainstream RD unless one song's ranking kept me up this night. I'm at al loss with Metal haters or even those who are lukewarm on Metal. If the lyrics don't spice you up then at least this kind of song should send chills up your spine and transform you into your best Angus Young air guitar skills. This is the type song that gives meaning to the term Guitar hook. Bon Scott delivers the she.... lyrics just the way I like them. Aggressive and mean. BTW I like the other video where the girls are riding mechanical bulls on stage. It's more of a hard rock zone for me to sun in. and lastly this jam made the top 40 on Hot 100 (back when the chart was worth a damn). that's how awesome this jam is. I rest my case. 35. Let My Love Open the Door - Pete TownshendTis just me ranking Hot 100 Poprock jams higher than I should on these RDs, but this is such a melodic slapper. 34. You May Be Right - Billy JoelDeserving slot for this jam. I really loved Billy's vocal delivery on this. Why can't these pop rockers continue rocking this way after they hit 60? 33. Jane - Jefferson StarshipFinally a deserving slot for a this band. I like some of their corporate hoopla stuff, but this is the band rocking album rock style. Micky hits the right notes ,and the synths and guitars combo is reminiscent of Toto's "Hold The Line". BTW, I peeked ahead and Christopher Cross rides into the top 25 with a deserving song.

Too bad we didn't get to rank more from Love at First Sting. Completely agree on Xanadu. Great soundtrack, hell I'd probably give the ONJ/Gene Kelly song a pass. I'm Alive and All Over the World would easily make my top 20. You Shook Me All Night Long is classic. I really had a hard time ranking metal on Modern rankdowns despite them getting airplay at the time, but this song kicks ass and sounds just as fresh now as it always has...

My expectations for this actually weren't very high, since it didn't do well in Random Rock Volume 1, so this is a fine placement. Still don't know what the hell could cause one to rank it the second-to-worst song on this list though 24
