If I'm not mistaken it's the first Bruno song embraced by Urban from day one.

I don't think I will listen to this song a lot but it's a cute throwback record.

I like the production, but has there been any conversation/controversy over how many Bruno Mars songs are about him admiring women as objects? Do women have any agency in his songs? Country music has deservedly received criticism over 'bro country,' and Bruno essentially sings about the same things.

This is doing pretty poorly on streaming. I hope it doesn't eat away Silk Sonic's buzz before the album even drops. Which, it should have in March-April but still

He does love songs about men wanting to treat women well and loving them as they are. That is in my opinion the opposite of objectifying women.

Man's just wants to write songs about loving women, by that logic every straight male artist is objectifying women in there songs.
It ain't that deep nor complicated plus as far as I know Bruno has a good work relationship with many of his female peers in the industry and a noted respect for them as well.

He does love songs about men wanting to treat women well and loving them as they are. That is in my opinion the opposite of objectifying women. "Objectifying women" means seeing women as an object of desire, and nothing more. All of the lyrics of "Skate" are about the woman as an object of his desire (it's about physical/material things and not her as a person). "Gorilla" is about being on drugs and f*cking a woman, who again is not described as an actual human. "Locked Out of Heaven" is about how their sex makes him feel, so again not about a woman as a human. In "Finesse" he sings about liking to show his woman off, talks about her measurements. Man's just wants to write songs about loving women, by that logic every straight male artist is objectifying women in there songs. And that could be correct logic. Do you even know the conversation we're having culturally?

I get where you are coming from, It is wrong for a Male Singer like Bruno Mars to sing lyrics about objectifying Women, Although I would add that it should also depend on exactly what context these kinds of lyrics are being used.

It's 'funny' because even a song like "Just the Way You Are," which is in theory about loving a woman for who she is, has lyrics that describe physical attributes; her eyes, her smile, her lips. Ty if a man loves a woman the way she is for physical attributes, she is being seen as an OBJECT of desire. In this song she also depends on him for confidence.

According to that one person's logic music industry should be finished then, like let's shut down ALL male artists, no more pop, r&B, rap, reggaeton, country, disco, jazz, etc, holy shit, I think this is the most reaching and far fetched thing I've read on Pulse.

Henry SuΓ‘rez and Edith Puthie So, do you not know the definition of objectifying women, or do you not think Bruno Mars constantly singing about women as objects is an example of it? More so, how many songs does Mars have where he writes about women as actual humans with thoughts, feelings, a point of view?

#7 on iTunes #22 on Spotify #64 on Apple Music These numbers just prove that this song is nothing more than an album filler - not the 2nd single to a highly anticipated project.

Thats what Im talking about, soon this mediocrity will hit the brick wall and then they have to bring out the real banger for Christmas(it cannot be another ballad) or the hype has left through the open door skating on ice. It looks to me that LTDO was one single project and after it surprisingly went massive they had to start planning the whole album. Now here's the real challenge!

More so, how many songs does Mars have where he writes about women as actual humans with thoughts, feelings, a point of view? Looking back through the lyrics of his hit singles, youβre kind of right. Itβs almost as if he just sings it so smoothly that the average audience listener doesnβt even notice it. Basically all of his hit singles are about how beautiful she is (on the outside), having sex, getting drunk, or him having his heart broken when she leaves him. Generally speaking, he doesnβt tend to include even one line about her personality, for example.

Fair point, but just from the outside looking in his songs are so captivating that most people probably donβt take the time to read his lyrics and see that he actually hasnβt said anything positive outside of her looks. Through his songs, heβs the kind of βperfectβ guy whom one year or how ever long into the relationship you sort of question whether he knows your favorite color lmao. Not knocking him for it, though. Heβs the classic character in most romantic comedies.
