I really want to see this song get crossover push at HAC or Pop but I doubt that will happen, sadly.

The plan is to max “Wishful Drinking” after “She Had Me at Heads Carolina.”
Should be starting the week of October 10th. Cole will be in max rotation until the second week of October.

So they just have to get ahead of "You Proof" to get #1 since both Cole and Luke will be falling by then? Hope this can at least get a Mediabase #1 as I don't like that they aren't waiting out all 3 of Cole, Morgan, and Luke.

Removed from Apple Music and Amazon’s main Country playlist(s). What a stupid decision.

Rises to #5 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart this week.
Ingrid's 2nd Top 5 entry on the chart.

I wonder if this one will end up being a Mediabase restricted #1 or if it will make it to #1 at all. I read somewhere that it's push week is ahead of Wallen. Having to leapfrog over him is going to be a very hard task.

Bad timing as I really thought Ingrid would finally get her well deserved #1 on Billboard Country Airplay chart. :/

A woman getting screwed out of #1 on the BB Country Airplay chart with a song that is a massive success is unfortunately a tale as old as time. This deserved #1 on both charts, but if it at least gets there on MB, that'll soften the blow a little. Still disappointing to see this peaking at the absolute worst possible time as it should've not only sailed to the top but probably been one of the few rare multi-week #1 hits for a female act, joining "The Bones" and "The Good Ones" from the past few years. Either way, still a big win for Ingrid Andress. I just hope she's able to get another solo hit with her follow-up single and it doesn't falter the way "The Stranger" or "Lady Like" did.

I hate this so much, the number of times Carrie was screwed out of #1 on BB... There's actually a study looking at dayparts and gender which showed that female artists are actually being less played in the day than overnight (Dr. Jada Watson, the author, writes a lot about country music academically too if that's something anyone here is into) which obviously hurts in terms of audience numbers which matter for Billboard. And I'm also not happy about songs by female artists on the chart just having smaller audience numbers in general compared to songs by male artists that have around the same amount of spins. I do believe "Wishful Drinking" ran into really bad timing with 3 gigantic hits peaking at the same time, but what you mentioned is also true and country radio needs to be not only playing more female artists but also female artists at times that matter more (not that overnight spins don't matter but you get what I mean).

"Wishful Drinking" has now been charting for 1 year on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart!
I've been working on a list of songs that have charted for 1 year or more on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and among the 31 songs I have on my list so far, Ingrid is only the 7th female artist in history to have a song spend at least 1 year on the chart joining Gabby Barrett, Maren Morris, Lauren Alaina, Bebe Rexha, Maddie & Tae, Elle King, & Miranda Lambert!

It does stink this is probably gonna be a Mediabase #1 as it just ran into the absolute worse timing with all 4 of "She Had Me At Heads Carolina", "You Proof", "The Kind Of Love We Make" (which even that had to settle for a MB only #1 for 2 weeks) and "5 Foot 9" peaking. Like "Wishful Drinking" most times would probably hit #1 on both charts but all 4 of the other songs are just absolutely huge in comparison. Like I can't think of any worse timing as all 4 of them (Cole, Luke, Morgan, Tyler) are all songs that are also gonna have a ton of recurrent airplay for years to come with these songs as well.

Wasn't Ingrid in a similar situation with "More Hearts Than Mine"? IIRC, it was battling "Nobody But You", "I Hope" and "Chasin' You" which were all big hits and ultimately "More Hearts Than Mine" was only able to get the Mediabase #1.

Yes she was, which is insane that is happening twice now. 9 times out of 10 both "More Hearts Than Mine" and "Wishful Drinking" are hitting #1 on both charts as both are pretty sizable hits in their own rights. It's just both times she has peaked she is competing against songs that are the biggest hits of the year and absolute mammoth sized hits as all 4 of She Had Me At Heads Carolina", "You Proof", "The Kind Of Love We Make", and "5 Foot 9" have been massive hits and all are locks for the year end Hot 100 and all will be pretty comfortably high up for country songs. I do hate how much women get screwed out of a Billboard #1 constantly but with both of Ingrid's cases I am not as mad since she is competing against such huge hits, so it's more understandable. I just wish she had better timing.

I remember watching that tracking week. Warner had three artists at the top at the same time. I Hope, More hearts than mine, and Nobody but you, they got Gabby a week at number 1 (which probably would have been a 2-3 week run at number 1 if they didn't have artists that they were trying to all get to the top), then the second week they absolutely tanked I Hope, so More Hearts than Mine could close the gap, it did enough to catch Mediabase, but Nobody but you continued to gain so it couldn't get billboard, then Nobody But You had its official run after those two.

Thank you for the insight. I'm curious if Warner will try to get Ingrid/Sam to pass Cole during push week then... Doubt it happens, but hoping Ingrid/Sam can somehow make it to #1 on MB.

Honestly starting to wonder if this will even make it to #1 on Mediabase. It's about 1900 spins behind "You Proof," which doesn't even have it's push week until after this one. Next week is going to have to be one of the largest push weeks i've seen, or Morgan is going to have to lose a hefty amount of spins, in order for this to make it to #1. This one ran into some of the most unfortunate timing i've seen, being stuck gunning for the top with some of the year's biggest hits at around it.

We finally made it to push week! Unfortunately, I see this peaking at #2 or #3 on Mediabase due to “You Proof” having a pretty big lead and the fact it’s getting maxed out through 10/31.
I also doubt Cole falls hard enough where Ingrid/Sam passes. Another unfortunate situation for Ingrid, but I’m glad this song turned out to be a big hit overall. I hope her next single continues her momentum!

I wouldn't be upset about this missing #1 if it didn't unfortunately happen so often for female-led songs, but I am glad that regardless of the final peak position on either chart, that it was still an all-around huge success for Ingrid Andress. I wish they were pushing this one as a crossover hit right now instead of promoting "Seeing Someone Else" to HAC, much as I absolutely love that track as well. This one just has multi-format smash written all over it.
Good Person is stacked with incredible material so I am really excited (and also anxious) to see what they pick for her follow-up single to country radio and to see how it does. Much as I love "Wishful Drinking," at this point I am more than ready for them to move on from this to something new. They have several great options to pick from, but the top of my list would be between "Seeing Someone Else," "Yearbook," and "How Honest Do You Want Me to Be?" The latter is such a hooky earworm of a bop, while the former two are just such incredible showstoppers from a lyric standpoint, particularly "Yearbook." I could see it being a bit too 'depressing' for country radio circa 2022 and thus making it a risky option, but that hook... man, that just has Song of the Year vibes written all over it. I get chills.

I get chills. 100% agree with this especially when it would've helped push it even further after country radio was done with it. I could even see it crossing over to Top 40 unlike "Seeing Someone Else"."Seeing Someone Else" is already approaching Top 40 on the format and it hasn't even been a month yet since it impacted, so I'm hoping it can scrape the Top 30/25 and chart for 15-20 weeks! Also, I'm very anxious about the next country single mainly because of what happened with "The Stranger". "Feel Like This" seems like another crossover kind of song that I could see being big for Ingrid, but personally rooting for "Yearbook" because it's one of those songs that deserves to have a moment similar to "Burning House".

Did the label forget this is push week lol? Has been gaining very minimal for this to be the grand finale. I fully believe it's more the label than radio, because if UMG could get radio to convert "Ghost Story" to get to the top 5 when it was beyond clear radio was done with it, I don't see why radio would be hesitant in converting this one, since I think they are more behind this one than they were "Ghost Story." I wonder if Warner just saw that #1 is impossible so they just chose to save their resources. Might end up with a #4 peak if the label doesn't start actually pushing this.

I would love “Yearbook” next as it sounds like a SMASH! But “How Honest” is my favorite. I vote for either of those.

“Feel Like This” is my vote for next single so I hope that’s true. This album is phenomenal and Ingrid is a talent I NEED to become a staple in the genre so I want the most radio friendly option next. It’s also my favorite on the album so it’s a no brainer in my opinion. Lots of other good options and great songs but FLT is really special and I could see it becoming another hit for her.

Final peak is #4 on Mediabase & I assume it’ll be #5 on Billboard. Still upset with peak timing, but overall WD is what Ingrid’s career needed so I’m thrilled with how well it did for her.
Hopefully Warner doesn’t wait until 2023 to send the follow-up single. “Blue” was submitted to 3 categories at the Grammy’s so I wouldn’t be surprised if they take the rest of the year to campaign for it.

I'm on the same page as you. As much as I would have loved this to go to #1, it really doesn't matter. This was a hit and was needed for Ingrid. Looking back at the start of the thread we were all worried her label was going to fumble this release (or not even send it to radio) so all in all, I am happy with how this went. Also, anyone reading this who hasn't checked out her new album yet, please go do so. It's brilliant.

Final Billboard Country Airplay peak is #5. I was hoping Ingrid and Sam would get a #1 hit with “Wishful Drinking” but at least it made the top 5. I haven’t listened to her most recent album yet, but I saw her live over the summer and she had some good tunes that I hadn’t heard before so I am looking forward to whatever comes next.

Rises +7 spots to a new peak of #47 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week in its 15th week of charting.
Ingrid's 2nd Top 50 hit (So glad it was able to sneak into the Top 50 after push week!)

Appears this is still being promoted I’m curious if they decided to delay push week. Hopefully this means it can get to #1 on Mediabase at least. Ingrid really deserves it!
