For an Elton song this is huge... probably the next UK #1 (before the Adelecalypse).

Wild to see Elton scoring a hit in his mid-70s even with a medley of his songs and with one of the top pop artists right now. Could end up becoming bigger in the US than two of the singles it interpolates too (not sure about it outperforming βRocket Man,β but I guess weβll see). He has one of the greatest catalogs in pop music so good to see him and some of his songs reaching a new audience.

I wouldβve thought Elton had accumulated more UK #1s in his prime time. A bit surprised that someone with such strong catalog of classics didnβt have over 10 #1s in the 20th century. So this is an even better news. Congrats to sir Elton John!

Don't Go Breaking My Heart (1976) Sacrifice / Healing Hands (1990) Candle In The Wind / Something About The Way You Look Tonight (1997) Are You Ready For Love (2003) Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word (with Blue) (2005) Cold Heart (2021) The last 4 were all remakes or remixes of older songs of his.

Thinking ahead here, after this song peaks(and I hope it peaks very high), would "After All" with Charlie Puth get pushed next? As much as I think the Stevie Wonder duet is the superior song, having two over 70 artists would probably be pushing it. Plus Charlie's still trying to break in the US, and this may be the song to do it.

You forgot 2Pac's Ghetto Gospel, also from 2005, on which he was credited as a feature. (And it was a sample of his song Indian Summer, so yes, technically another remake/remix.)

Did he not do that with 12-week #1 See You Again in 2015?

Charlie Puth who has actually had a couple hits on his own - is really still just a featured act for other artists
But is probably the most well known of those that gt their start latching on to huge hits

Aside from See You Again, Charlie Puth has two more songs over a billion streams on Spotify as a lead artist. And not to mention that See You Again, one of the most streamed songs ever, is all about his hook that he wrote. He has a pretty big international fan base, too. It's true that he's struggling after his sophomore LP but so many artists would kill to have massive hits like he does. He has never been the biggest star, of course, but saying he's just a featured act is a serious underestimate.

Even better, the song is now a top 10 hit in Canada rising 21-08 on the Canadian Hot 100 this week and up 09-07 on the Billboard Global 200.

just heard this today for the first time and I'm disappointed. I mean, it's great and all Elton is getting a hit, but I don't understand why it's getting this high.
