it'll be wild if deja vu indeed gets a 14th week in the top 10; that'd match 21's set fire to the rain as the least of the 1-2-3 punch of hits.

I like this, some questions though: do you think that Tombstone being stagnant would be enough to keep it from going recurrent? It might. Also, I'm pretty stoked that Elton John will get his first Hot 100 entry in more than two decades. Let's celebrate Dua for helping him get it as well. Damage was stagnant on its 21st week earlier this year and yet it still disappeared after 20 weeks, so itโs not a guarantee. I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but rather that it is a possibility, especially if the single is being pushed actively somewhere.

Brainwashed seems to be the only song to get more free streams than paid streams, an interesting accomplishment ๐ฟ

Iโm glad TMB is showing some stability. I think it might do a BL type run where the first few weeks it looks like its tanking except this time it would stay in the 15-30 range and then it picks up heavily. Hopefully it could actually hit #1 too but maybe it wouldnโt either because they really front loaded the entire main promotion aspect of the song already (music video, radio push and marketed as a lead single).

Wasn't a fan of the collabs project overall but Antisocial is one of both Ed's and Travis' best songs that should've SMASHED 2 years later and I'm still salty that "Antisocial" didn't notch success on the Billboard Hot 100

For someone like weeknd isn't a good sign..Stability? Where? Maybe on radio only.TMB has reached the peak already. if weeknd decides to take a little break and return around November with a new (better)song maybe he will have bigger success again..

It's interesting she's that rich off just a couple hits. I guess she invested well? The bombing on Wonder is truly one of the biggest TRAINWRECKORDS of the modern era, up there with Man of the Woods and Witness up there with man of the woods? Please,Man of the woods had two top 10 hits and the album opened with almost 300k ... shawn would have killed to have an era like this Mendes was never on Timberlake's level, so they can't be directly compared anyway.

2 years later and I'm still salty that "Antisocial" didn't notch success on the Billboard Hot 100 "Cross Me" too. Maybe it's on me preferring "Antisocial" over "Cross Me", but the latter wasn't bad too and it too also deserved chart success. It's just on the lead single that messed up (I Don't Care)

- Close fight on #2 spot between "Good 4 U" vs "Bad Habits". - Bella Poarch about to chart her 2nd Hot 100 song. Didn't expect that. - Nice to see Elton John and T-Pain back. - 6 songs from Doja Cat's Planet HER. Wow. - BL continues to decline. I just hope it survives another week for its 90th wk. 89 wks will be a bummer. - Never heard that song at #84.

It's interesting she's that rich off just a couple hits. I guess she invested well? One hit song that gets decent recurrent airplay can pay millions. I read an article some years back that said Smooth made Rob Thomas millions. Iโm not sure how many millions (i think the article said) but it was several at least. Assuming Lorde didnโt transition into a lifestyle that requires a mansion and other major expenses, she could very well be set for life from Royals and Team.

True, and that album was also huge worldwide, so it should be a solid source of revenue for her for years to come. And if her words of having "zero anxiety" of not having to bow to commercial pressures are indeed truthful, that's really awesome. What a burden that must lift off her shoulders, just being able to create art purely for her fans and that doesn't compromise her values.

She's lucky if her label is somehow able to keep her music profitable v. the thousands of artists have been dropped by labels over the years. Lorde isn't making music in a bar or in the street - somebody has to pay the costs producing, recording, marketing, etc. so it'll be interesting how that financial model works.

Most big artists that get big enough to stop caring about hits usually get to that point after years and years of hits so itโs rlly impressive that Lordeโs gotten there after just two smashes, happy for her

So we should not feel sad for kesha or katy Perry for example..their careers are over but with so many hits on their discographies the money is more than enough I guess

Huh? Every artist has a short time span to produce hits. Does not mean their careers are over when that happens. If you have enough material and there is enough interest, you can perform your material until you retire, for example

I really can't understand her!!

Maybe Katy's priorities changed when she met Orlando. I mean she has been there, done that as a Pop star. She has had enormous success and very few stars remain at the top for a long time. It's not like artists stop earning money when they stop scoring hits, she earns tons of money from American Idol alone. And who would say no to having a baby with daddy Orlando?

She has nothing left to prove, no one dominated the early 10s like she did, Teenage Dream was a success even the most established artists can only dream of not to mention eight number 1s from 2010-13, sheโll be fine, her career is good.

Lorde's eco-friendly music box reminds me of the "1,000 true fans" strategy. Jessie J said that Party In The USA paid her rent for three years, and she wasn't even talking about recurrent play at the time. That's just how much that one huge hit made while it was hitting, and it was a song she co-wrote for someone else. So I imagine writing and performing an entire hit album (which, like Ms. Perri, she only co-wrote with one other person), followed up by a smaller but still moderate hit album and the revenue from two world tours, would indeed take care of Lorde for a very long time before the recurrent revenue even showed up - especially if, like Rose "Payola" Nylund said, she doesn't have a really extravagant lifestyle.
