Isn't the holiday weekend to blame?

I know there are no Labor Day songs, but don't some stations do throwback weekends and play older music this weekend, you know the whole end of summer thing.

Pandora updated for Friday/September 3rd but for some reason didn’t include CLB songs. Yet Drake’s interactive streams on the platform from August 28-September 3 are already up over 492% compared to the week prior.

That means he got 6-6.5m streams on that platform Friday, likely strong majority from 2-3 songs. So Girls Like Girls & 2 Sexy probably got over 2m+ audio streams each first day there. Huge. Enough to make up for their Spotify losses today.

Exactly. The thing with this is that it’s still relatively uncommon and limited to only the major album drops that have been captured due to streaming, so it feels so novel and strange and almost…not accurate. However, these most certainly would have been more common if music consumption was able to be similarly captured pre-streaming through major album releases like Adele, Britney, N Sync, and other single week million-sellers.

Plus, in today’s music landscape, Drake capturing the entire top 10 or 90% of it simply means his music (individual songs) was consumed by more people than any other individual song. It’s really nothing more than that (and never is). Based on the totals he’s posting since the album dropped, it makes sense and still makes more sense than Butter’s 55,000 people or whatever seemingly having more impact than the millions listening to Drake, Stay, LNX, and whoever else.

literally what is the correlation AT ALL? 💀 Drake taking 9/10 spots requires RECORD BREAKING streams, multiple songs above 4m streams and the highest daily US streams ever. Butter being in the top 10 requires like 20k people to buy 28 copies of the same song.

One requires actual genuine public reception the other requires a very small, no pun intended, army.

Probably yes. I would assume some radio stations went off from their regular rotation for much of this weekend.

CLB will still be more than fine for the week as we still got Apple Music and its still occupying the top 21 positions over there (Donda also being a lot more stronger on there as well). There’s still other streaming platforms so if it bleeds out on spotify but still holds its stability, it’s not the biggest deal in the world.

But the chart is so weak rn. It's very likely he'll land everything within top50 atleast (~12m streams/track is enough to do so)

Some context is needed because the Hot 100 was a lot stronger when Scorpion was released compared to now. It also has fewer songs so every song debuting in the top 50/60 might be a possibility.

It’s also a Holiday weekend though. As soon as he announced that date that was my first thought. Sunday & Monday are also gonna have notable drops.
